House of Blues Restaurant & Bar - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was empty which made for a nice quiet atmosphere, but being that we were 1 of four tables in the restaurant, and they had two waiters, it made his poor service really stand out. It wasn’t bad, he just took way too long between our drink order and food. Took him awhile to notice us initially, so it was about 30 minutes in before we got to place our order. The food was terribly bland and underwhelming, especially for those prices. I got the Cajun pasta, and it was lukewarm and bland. Don’t think I’ll ever eat here again
Food was decent and fairly priced, drinks were ridiculously expensive. The only reason we went here was because a free concert was advertised to start at 5pm. We got there early and the music didn't start til 5:35pm. We had already finished eating by the time it started so it wasn't quite the experience expected. Would have stayed to drink and hang out if pricing had been more reasonable.
I have been here several times and have never had terrible service until tonight. If you enjoy being COMPLETELY ignored by your bartender - THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! The bartenders have tunnel vision, stay at one end of the bar and are too busy on their cell phones to care about the customers. The food was brought out, put in front of us and the bartender walked away. Did not ask if they could get us anything for our steaks or if they could get us another drink. About 8 minutes after the food was dropped the bartender finally came by and asked if she would get us anything. YAY!!! I have only been choking on this food for 5 min!! Thank you!!! I eventually tried to change up my drink and go with something different, so I ordered a pickle-tini. He repeated the order and said absolutely. NO pickle juice... it was Olive juice and Vodka. GAG! Waived down the other person behind the bar, he went to the kitchen and got bread and butter pickle juice. Wow... I remember my first day as a bartender!
When you think dallas... you think TRAINED, IMPRESSIVE BARTENDERS. This - Is - Not - The - Case - At - All!!! I would rather go to a dive bar, smell like an ashtray, eat bar food but actually get served. Ridiculous.
As a musician, this spot need a variety of performers and entertainment didnt start on time! The managers seem out of touch and the staff wasn't ready for busy night! Loved our waitress Miracle even though she struggled with our big party of 25...she had to work our group alone with little help from the kitchen staff and other staff!
We decided to grab dinner before a concert. It took 45 minutes to get our food. And once we got it, it looked like they just took some charcoal briquettes and threw them on a plate. As part of getting the tickets I got a free dessert, but the only one that looked appealing they were out of. I won't ever eat there again.
Went for an early dinner before watxhing Toad the Wet Sprocket. Excellent service. Hostess was friendly. Waitress was very attentive as well as the other mwmbwrs of staff. Food was excellent. I had a New York strip that was cooked perfectly. Wife had shrimp tacos that were perfect for her. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Horrible! Got COLD cornbread apoetizer in a cast iron skillet!? Wierd. Waited an hour for brisket tacos. Never got them !! All they had to do is assemble them and serve... GEEZ! We had to leave-missed the entire set of the opening band at the concert next door. Wake up management team- you have issues in your kitchen. 👎🏽🚫
finally made our way to hob for dinner last night and boy was it ever a disappointment. the menu looked good but the food wasnt. so let me start with our experience. first off we had reservations for two a 7pm. we did arrive early so we checked in and was asked to come back to the front in about 15-20 minutes, which we did and we were seated about 7. so the waiter finally showed up and asked if we wanted to order drinks, we told him we were ready to order our meal too and he said hold on, left, went to some other table to take their order, submit it and then came back to us. we ordered the tacos and pulled pork sandwich. after about 10 minutes had passed he came back and told us they were out of pulled pork, really out at 7 pm??? so changed it to pulled brisket. 30 minutes later still no food. the waiter did come by several times to apologize and tell us it will just be a minute more or we are next. finally almost 8 we received our food. very disappointing. the pulled brisket and tacos were terrible. they were so greasy we couldnt finish eating them, but hey the fries were okay. so all in all a terrible first time experience. i am glad i didnt bring my family like i had planned to do.
The service in the restaurant was absolutely horrible. Their system includes people other than your waiter bringing you your food, so our waiter was able to casually blame everyone but himself for the fact that we still didn't have two of our dinners even after the other 3 people were served 45 minutes previously. We finally gave up and left and got them food some place else. We won't ever go back. It's one thing to have a mistake made...but it really offends when the waiter seemed so unconcerned, and no effort was made to comp any of the other items. They really didn't care, and we won't care to ever go back. Great concert venue....HORRIBLE RESTAURANT!
House of Blues...same stuff different location.
Was greeted by a very lovely hostess, Judith I think. Warm, friendly, genuine. Just the right greeting while being out of town! Food was very good Split the shrimp voodoo and wished I hadn't it was really good
Southern Fried chicken was recommended and did not disappoint!
Our server was a little shaky, but hey its house of blues not the Waldorf!
One of our dishes was sorely undercooked, despite a long wait for the food to arrive. Even after taking back the dish, the chicken was returned to us yet again undercooked.
The beer draft list is embarrassingly small and expensive.
Overall, the staff is very friendly and very willing to work around shortcomings of the cooks, but if you're looking for food before your concert, go somewhere else!
First time to visit restaurant. Went to eat prior to a show. Made happy hour. Wasn’t busy at all. Food was good. Loved the chicken waffle screwers. Our server kept disappearing and took long time to come check on us. She also didn’t charge us happy hour prices on drinks but fixed it immediately when I pointed it out. Considering it wasn’t very busy, it was a bit frustrating we couldn’t get a little better service. Even though I would come back if I was seeing a show for convenience.
It wasnt what expected. The waiter was friendly with great suggestions of the menu. The food was not good. It was 14 of us and 3 had to send their good back with 1 having hair in his food. The rest of us kinda just dealt with it because it would have taken too long to get it back.
Very energetic vibes, happy waiter, good hostesses, different variety of choices. The only thing I would change ..i really don't want BAD music while I"m eating..singers too loud and I can't understand them ANYWAY because of the patron noise. I really thing just INSTRUMENTAL music- would work better in the dining area.
This is our go-to restaurant before hockey, basketball, and concerts at the American Airlines Center. We also go there before concerts at the HOB. Dustin is our favorite server. Nice guy and always outstanding service. He told us that he's moving to the concert hall and won't be a server in the restaurant any more. So sad to hear that but a good reason to attend more HOB concerts!
Turkey burger came out pink when we complained we were told that the burger came pre-cooked and the cook just throws the frozen burger on the grill and heats it. He said it was the spices and comped us dessert but seriously... burger was pink. Frozen turkey burgers? Do they even cook there or just reheat?
We had dinner before seeing a show there at the theater. My daughter ordered a dish which was a little spicier then she expected; we asked to get something else. I was surprised to see both dishes on the final ticket. I didn't question it; I just paid the bill. Our server was friendly enough but several times we had to look for her to get drink refills and return the order. Sheila, the hostess was phenomenal so naturally I expected our server to live up to that standard. She did not.
We wanted dinner and a show for a friends birthday. We were there on a Friday night before going to the Foundation Room to hear the Squeezebox Bandits play. First time eating there and the dinners were delicious! 3 of us had the shrimp grits and one had the chicken street tacos with beans. Fun place! We arrived a few minutes before the reservation and were immediately seated. The service was good and we really enjoyed the live music with dinner. Also, love the convenience of valet parking!
Delicious dinner (salmon salad myself, burger and ribs for others in the group). Franklin (our server) was outstanding. Just a warning: if you're going to order dessert, use the buddy system. The banana bread pudding is enough for an army, but so amazing you'll want to eat it all yourself; you'll need someone to share it or knock the spoon out of your hand.
We have always liked going here before shows, but the service gets worse every time. The last few times have been slow even though they didn't seem that busy. Thus last time it took over an hour to get our food even though the place was only 1/2 full. I think that will be the last time we eat there. There are too many other choices in the vicinity.
Drinks are overpriced and weak. We ordered the garlic fries, which were okay but nothing truly special. The jambalaya was nice and spicy. The mac and cheese was flavorful, but couldn't used some cheese sauce; my noodles were completely dry. The live music was a nice way to warm up for the Seether concert and kept the mood nice and light. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. It took some time for our order to be taken, but our waitress checked on us numerous times throughout the visit. Overall, I would return, but I have to say it's nothing to write home about.
