The food was pretty good but a bit on the high side. The drinks were high prices for an 8 oz glass. We had a 7 on reservation and had to wait 30 to be seated.
Enjoyed every moment the celebration for st Patrick’s Day was real at the House of Blues !!! Loved the staff very attentive and great personalities !!!!
Entertainment was fantastic. The band New Element entertained the crowd during our meal. We would have stayed longer to watch the band, however the restaurant was so cold we couldn't stay. The food was mediocre. Service was pretty good. I would definitely come back to see this band but not to dine.
Went for a friends birthday! Drinks were awesome. Food came so fast. Blues band that night was awesome. We decided to stay and listen to them vs. Going to another downtown bar! Free dessert for birthday girl was so good!
Great experience all the way around!!! Will return soon!
Good service. Good food. Good atmosphere. Good times. Had the jambalaya which was great.
The brisket sandwich and baked beans were both too spicy for my taste. I grew up in Texas. I prefer a milder sauce that enhances the smoky flavor of slow cooked, smoked beef, not one that overwhelms the senses. I could tell the beans were made from scratch, because some beans were slightly undercooked. I really liked the cole slaw though.
We ate here prior to a concert and used the $20 line-jump on part of our bill. The service was good. There was a band that took a break for most of the time we were there. The decor was fun and colorful.
The women's bathroom only had one functioning towel dispenser early in the evening. Then, the bathroom switched to having an attendant closer to show time. I dislike having bathroom attendants. I can get my own soap and towel without help or feeling obligated to tip someone for handing them to me.
We went for a 7 pm dinner with work colleagues. We anticipated seeing an opening act that would focus on blues music. He was loud, obnoxious, only performed bits and pieces of music, and picked a verbal confrontation with patrons at the bar who basically wanted him to quit talking and play music.
Great blues band and good food! Adam was a great waiter and took good care of us!!
The staff was incredible! Food was excellent! Entertainment was great! I will definitely go back and recommend it to others. I loved my experience 👍😃❤🎶
Overall great time and would love to do it again. I music was great we bought a cd. The food was good. We ordered 12 tacos
Service was very disappointing, 90 min. To get our meal... Not good!
We were there for dinner while my daughter was seeing a concert. This place was great! From the receptionist to the security. Im waiting for the next reason to go back.
We ate the restaurant before a concert and the drinks and food were delicious!
Loved the atmosphere and the early entertainment of the different people! The food was good, the best was the bbq brisket, it was great! We were there for the Why Don’t We Boys concert .
Absolutely awesome service, very timely and polite. Our server was incredibly informative about the food and restaurant itself as well as the show about to happen next door. He was able to get us past the line as well as VIP status! It was an amazing night with great food!
Nice every day diner by myself, enjoyed the meal and had a lot of fun with the live music
Great Food, fantastic music and and overall awesome good time.
Very slow service
I was seated within a reasonable amount of time. I proceeded to sit at my table for 15 minutes. No water, no acknowledgement that I existed. I got up and left the restaurant after the 15 minute wait. If the music had been even marginally acceptable I would probably have stayed. It was the worst blues guitarist I have ever heard. I actually taught music in our public schools for a couple of years. I’ve played in numerous rock groups, jazz groups and classical groups. The performer didn’t have a clue as to what she was doing. She’s a fraud.
Great place to gather and eat before a show. We were VIP box for the show so we dined first and then made our way upstairs for the show. Great atmosphere and music before the show. The smokehouse meats were fantastic with the various sauces!
So it is loud when the band is playing. Hard to have a conversation. Most of the food is spicy, beware. Oh, the ceiling MOVES violently when there is a crowd upstairs in the main theater. It is very unsettling. I’m not sure we will ever be back. So many better places to experience the blues in Chicago and better food.
Great place for blues and Cajun!
Food was not great, service okay. Was not busy seems like we should have had better service. Food really was just low end.
We went there for the music and it was great! We weren't in any rush and enjoyed the 3 hours we were there. However, the server was probably the worst one we ever had. Her other tables around us were obviously frustrated as well. I would not count one employee against the restaurant though. We are looking forward to going back!
Great meal in a unique environment. Food was true to it’s roots
The food was great but the menu did not mention red pepper flakes would be used generously on one item we ordered. The atmosphere was good but not nearly as fun as I had imagined. It was fun to go once but probably not again.
House of Blues Chicago was one of the only restaurants willing to take a reservation for our large group of 18. The staff was extremely helpful, particularly the hostess who worked hard to set up a table to meet our needs, including a high chair and being seated together at one table. Our waitress was patient and friendly. It took a little while for our food to come out, but given our size this was expected and we had drinks and live music to keep us happy. HOB is a very cool spot with unique decor. It was easy to get to and we had a very positive experience.
Food, decor, and live music were better than expected. Our waitress was polite and nice but was spread thin. This meant that we struggled to let her know when we wanted a drink refill, dessert, or our check. We also asked for a receipt after paying cash (work reimbursement) and left without one after waiting 20 minutes of waiting. Love the atmosphere, worth the patience, but I don't advise going there if you are in a time crunch.
Food was ok. Moreso diner food. Not really high grade. Lotta fried greasiness. Hot wings full of grease, but meat undercooked and over seasoned. Will not return.
Host staff was rude. Could not find a reasonable place to sit two people and ended up putting us in a section where the poor waitress was swamped.
Food came cold, incorrect, and no one came to check our order. Until the manager came seeing we were not enjoying our meal.
Did comp the incorrect meal.
Had a great time. Waiter was just not up to par. I give her service 2 out 5.
Seeing a live blues performance while in Chicago is a must. Finding a blues-themed restaurant instantly resonated as the place to be on a Friday evening. Making reservations insures a table upon arriving, which is important since House of Blues is clearly popular. The preformer had years experience playing blues, the music set a nostalgic and immersive vibe. Excellent quality food. Helpful service. Perfect location. Excellent experience.
At first the waitress( I want to say her name is Tatiana) was very attentive by the end she wasn’t. We asked for our check and it took her 30 min to bring it to us and on top of that she had mentioned at the beginning of the night that she would mark our receipts so we can pass the line. Well by the time we got our bill and paid for our food I forgot about it. When we get to the line the nice usher asked us for our pass the line receipt and I told him our waitress did not give us one. He was so nice and went and got it for us and made sure to let us know for next time that they give us the pass the line receipt. The food was okay over priced maybe next time I’ll try something different. But we had a great time at the ZZ Ward concert!
Went to to see the blues Travelers at the house of blues and decided to have dinner there first. The food was amazing and the service was great too! I recommend the fried chicken and the Cajun pasta. We will definitely be back for a dinner and show soon.
We came for the surroundings and to meet up with good friends. But the food was excellent! Service was very attentive but not annoying. Glasses were kept filled. Plates taken as they were emptied. Live music on stage was great. But before nine it is not overwhelmingly loud. So we were able to have fun talking and could hear each other. I had the steak salad and loved it. The salad had lettuce plus roasted Brussel sprouts and carrots. The sauce was great. I commented to my friends how much I enjoyed it. Others had a po-boy, jambalaya, and can't remember what else. Everyone was full and happy when we finished. Highly recommended.
Food is marginal. City Winery is better experience in this format.
I find it strange that, even with open tables, walk ins will not be seated. I booked a reservation on the spot and was immediately seated, after I was turned away as a walk in.
Horrible service before concert. We walked in with reservations to be sat immediately. The place (from start to finish) was maybe 2/3 full with reservation signs on tables that were never occupied in the nearly 2 hours we were there and with people turned away at the door. Took over ten minutes to be greeted and even longer to get a glass of water while waited for a bottle of wine to be opened and brought to table. The bottle of wine came with cork in so tightly I then had to go get bartender to remove because server was nowhere to be found. Once food was ordered, it was quick and jambalaya good. Have had way better bread pudding. Salmon dish was overpriced for the portion and quality. Live music before we went to se Blues Traveler was really good, but would have been more enjoyable if it hadn’t taken over 30 minutes just to put an order in.
We could not have enjoyed our meal more. Perfect pre-show faire! The cornbread is to die for! Excellent service and you get to "skip the line" for the evening's show. We were seated at our reservation time and out the door in time to be on the rail for Blues Traveler. Perfect night!
