House 406 Ratings and Reviews
I had scanned the menu ahead of time to ensure there were dishes I could at least pretend were ketogenic friendly. I spotted the broccoli and cauliflower crusted whitefish on the menu and went with that. I expected something sort of bland, sort of perfunctory, but was very pleasantly surprised. The dish was inventive and very delicious (I all but licked the plate). My friend ordered the same dish and was similarly impressed. There was a delicious-smelling pasta at the next table. I look forward to trying it when this longgggggg diet is over.
One day Early Valentine dinner turned out just great!
Chopped salad big enough to share and really good, dressed lightly and tastefully. Onion soup with perfect balance of cheese/bread/broth. Then entrees of gnocchi with salty-spicy sauce ( perhaps a tad too salty...) and the Parmesan crusted whitefish on a bed of cauliflower with light cream sauce. Nice!
House 406 is consistently impressive and beckons us to return again and again.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday on Saturday night at House 406. While we were a bit surprised to find it in a strip mall, what surprised us even more was how our meals surpassed our already high expectations. We each thoroughly enjoyed our entrees (mini filets and seafood linguini) but it was the lobster crostini that stole the show. As a nice touch, the restaurant delivered a surprise treat for us to share in celebration of her birthday. The service touch was just right and the hostess was ever so kind. We didn’t come with the kids thinking the menu may have been slightly more sophisticated for their tastes but from the looks of the menu there seems to be plenty of great options for the entire family. We’ll be back!
The flavors were delicious. My Prosecco with Aperol was a great drink. I enjoyed the fish with accompanying vegetables. Others in our group loved their meat selections. The chocolate dessert (we shared it) was decadent and fabulous. The service was attentive and caring.
The filet and lobster tail special was well cooked and nicely presented. The lobster was just a bit salty, however. The space isn't huge and tables are therefore placed close together. Don't expect any privacy here. The acoustics make for an extremely energetic (downright loud) experience. The food and service were on point, which will bring us back for more.
Food was very good but service was lacking. the waiter was not as attentive as he should have been. We had to flag him down to order drinks and to order dinner and dessert. He actually dismissed us for another table when we were politely trying to get his attention. It's like he wanted the bare minimum interaction with us.
My second visit confirmed my initial assessment of this restaurant. If you arer a North Shore Foodie, you MUST add House 406 to you dinner line up. Freshest, most innovative spot I have found. Chef Amador gets it right. I am working my way through his menu.
Been here many times, this was the worst experience we had there. Dining room was freezing cold. Had to keep my coat over my legs.
Waiter did not understand what vegetarian meant, and told me I could eat fish and then he decided I was vegan. I ordered off menu due to lack of veggie options. Had no flavor-suspect because server insisted I was vegan, so no butter or cheese.
Dessert-pear upside down cake, no flavor at all. Did not eat it.
Will not be back
Cocktails and wine were good. Scallops and Chicken Marsala were very good. Cod was cooked well but very bland. Gnocchi dish tomato sauce tasted like it was out of a can.
Very noisy. Waiter was attentive but never asked how our food was. We had higher expectations.
Been there twice, service is slow. Combination of waiter not taken our order and slow kitchen. Dinner took 2.5 hours for drinks, salad and dessert. When my food finally came, the lobster tail was under cooked. The lava caje dessert took a half hour to come and it looked like a mess. Pretty expensive place for both food mistakes and slow service, over-priced and over-rated.
Great food, including options for our vegetarian/pescatarian tastes. Service was on spot, always ahead of our needs without being invasive. Noise level is a bit high on the main floor, had a table in the back which was slightly elevated with a pony wall which really lowered the noise level.
We’ve been here three times and would come again!
This was the first time dining at House 406. All of us had seafood. Our friends said that the striped sea bass which was a special was outstanding. My husband loved the flavors of the organic salmon. The crab cakes were delicious- very little filler. I️ especially enjoyed the frisbee that they were served with. Entrees are high quality and presentation and flavors are outstanding
Filet was overcooked (not medium rare as ordered), stuffed shrimp was dry and "crab" stuffing was more like bread crumb stuffing. Could not find the crab portion of the meal. Dining room was extremely loud. Very expensive menu and overpriced for the experience in my opinion. One and done for me.
