Outdoor dining was great. Plenty of space and umbrellas for cover. Lunch was fast and delicious.
When we arrived at Houlihans and told the Hostess that we had an OpenTable reservation she told us that we would have to wait at least 20 minutes. We reserved an outdoor table and could see that there was only one of the outdoor tables taken so there was plenty of room for us to be seated. She said that if we didn't want to wait we should go to a different restaurant! We had expected a different kind of welcome.
Our request to be seated outside was because of Covid-19. So, when she said we had to wait indoors for at least 20 minutes to be seated, we could not accept that. We insisted that she seat us at one of the empty tables outdoors. She did, but never sent a server to serve us. Eventually, a server saw us sitting there and asked if he could help us. Otherwise, we could have sat there for hours.
After that, the server was great and the food was great. Too bad our experience had to start off the way it did.
Good food and friendly service, they definitely need additional staff we were a large group and had only one server so the wait for food was long at times but he did his best. The food was good and portions were large prices are reasonable. My second time at this particular location. I plan on returning , they cleaned between guests and follow all CDC protocol.
Very good menu with variety; service was excellent; finding in general with eating out restaurants have run out of some ingredients, no big deal, but frustrating
Food was good, wasn’t cheap but average. I’d go again.
I decided to go to Houlihan's for my birthday since they were the only local place that were taking reservations for my party of 10. When we were seated, there was a party of at least 30 people sitting right next to us... Mostly young children who were sitting on the opposite side of their parents with very little supervision. The kids were yelling and screaming so loud that I could not hear anything my family members were saying. I looked around and could tell that others around us were just as annoyed. I get it... Kids will be kids because I have children myself but it was disgraceful and disruptive, especially since not one staff member went over to say something to control the noise levels. Our server was awful. Granted it was her first day and we did not find out until the end of our meal but she should not have been assigned such a large party. They were so short staffed. I literally saw two servers the entire night. We had to ask the server at least 3 times for drinks and refills several times. When the food came, one of the kids in our party was missing their dinner. The server must've forgotten to put it in and it took over 30 minutes to come out. Another person in our party was missing their side and that took just as long. Once again, I get it... First days can be rough but young beginners really need to start out with smaller parties, NOT large ones. This just goes to show how understaffed they were. For the amount of money spent, this type of service is just totally unacceptable. Houlihan's has really gone down hill since it first opened up. I always used to go and I loved it. I will never be going back here ever again!
As we entered, there was a very energetic group in the dining area. The host kindly asked if we would prefer a less noisy are, and that was much appreciated. Our cocktails and burgers were delicious!
Wonderful as usual. Chance is the best! He makes it much more enjoyable to dine here.
The staff was working hard to accommodate, but they were noticeably short staffed. The entire restaurant needs a renovation or, if not in the budget, at least a good cleaning.
3 hours for a dinner for 3. Served drinks but didn’t say what was what to tell the two boozy drinks apart. Food took forever and the risotto was horrible. Ordered a replacement and that took forever. Got it when the rest of the party finished. Server was not attentive at all. When the chef brought the replacement out after we cancelled because it took so long we ordered dessert through him because our server walked away when we told her we wanted to order dessert. It wasn’t busy at all. Disappointing.
Wonderful as always. Service was amazing with Chance. He’s the best server in NJ. I love coming here mainly because of him
Our first time out and about since pandemic started. We very much enjoyed some of the pandemic related changes in terms of the touchless pay and the availability of other touchless items, though we did not take advantage of them. The food was typical Houlihan's food which is to say exactly what we went there for.
We Are At The End Of COVID-19 Lock-Down. It Was Great To Dine Out Again. The Houlihan's Staff Were Excellent.
2nd time trying houlihans over the past year, both times with different company. nice looking bar area, very clean restaurant. the food is just ok at best, its good, but nothing special, or memorable.
Always love Houlihans. Haven’t been in a while and it was great.
Wonderful experience as always! Delicious food and excellent service. Chance is the best server!!
Went to redeem my free birthday entree and was really happy when I found out they still have the Jambalaya even though it's not on their menu. It's my favorite dish and definitely did not disappoint. I love it because the taste is great and there's andouille sausage, shrimp and chicken (was cooked perfectly). If you want something else, they do have a great 19.99 3-course meal which includes appetizer or salad, entree & dessert. They give you lots of choices like filet mignon, scallops and shrimp, so it's really a good deal. Next time we go back that's what we'll order.
Very underrated food. Drinks and service also above average.
Food was great. Service was outstanding. Chance is the best!
We celebrated our son's Birthday. All was ok. Staff kept everything clean and safe. Food was good.
They may be understaffed/have new staff due to the pandemic, because previous reviews seem great. I would love to try them again. However, my main dish along with my guests came out cold. The appetizers were great though, no complaints there. We were never asked if we needed refills on drinks - seemed like the waiter was flying by and was hard to let him know what we needed.
Obeying COVID protocal
Service was great. Food was very good. Ambiance was spacious but cozy. Love the paper menus. The drinks are a little pricey but I guess that's the going rate. We get together with friends at Houlihans. Consistent.
The service was impeccable and the food was really good. They are a little pricey, but you do get a good quality meal so I rated the value for your money as average. I definitely recommend it, though, hands down. Although some offerings might seem similar, it's very noticeably in a class above the typical Chili's or Applebees and you will notice this the moment you take your first bite.
I waitress was wonderful very engaging and funny . The food was very tasty
We go often, but food can be hit or miss. Service is always great and love that they have 2 patios at the moment.
I really like the seared scallops and risotto, my friend had salmon ,I think we were both pleased...
Service was very good.
I did not eat but had beverages. Drinks were OK at best.
Overall, good experience.
Service was excellent. I ordered the scallop entree which was filling and delicious. The drinks were great. Lots of mosquitoes since we were outside.
They did not honor our reservation and we waited 45mins longer than the reservation time. They told us if they were to seat us they couldn’t seat walk ins. The food quality was poor and the service was terrible.
It was a bit of a different experience on the patio ,we enjoyed being able to have a dinner out of the house and look forward to indoor dining again even with distancing .
Everything was perfect that day including the weather. Thank you for a first dine out experience since Covid.
Great food and clean location. I love that they have a low carb option for sides (mashed cauliflower is delicious).
Everything was great Only 2 severs but they did a wonderful job
Houlihans in Parsippany is a nice place to grab a bite.
The waitress was very sweet and accommodating. She made suggestions and popular choices of drinks and the food came out promptly and hot.my husband and I both had Moscow Mules and fish and chips. My husband said "he would definitely order this again" . It was fresh and large portions. I couldn't believe how fast we were sitted, served and ate. We were only there an hour and did not feel rushed at all. We would highly recommend it and go back.
The burgers were good. However overall the restaurant was dirty. There was something on the ground in every section of the restaurant. We got there just before 2pm I would think that is enough time, during a slow period for SOMEONE to pick up a broom or vacuum and clean up it, was a turn off. Our food took a long time to get to us. It will be awhile before we come back.
Loved our server. The young lady made every effort to assist with our meal and drinks choices.
