Houlihan's - Overland Park
Went on Valentine’s Day. Couldn’t find our reservation. Drinks came late, one wrong. Appetizer came after entree and cold. Wrong on orders, had to ask for a knife. Not a very good dinner on Valentine’s Day.
Great service/great food
In preparing for a crowd the food was overcooked, therefore, any return will be on anticipated slow times.
I’m still recommending Hou’s, but the staffing was a HUGE miss on this visit. There were loads of employees (although it was difficult to discern because some were in flannel shirts, some in dress shirts, one guy in a chefs coat?) but most of them couldn’t assist with so much as a water refill. Our server was sunny and cheerful, until she wasn’t .. not sure what happened. Food was good, once it was all corrected to match what was ordered. 3of 5 checks had to be reworked- so far no issues with the bank processing. Willing to give them 1 more oppty. Ugh!
It was very crowded & people waiting... so glad I made reservations- we got right in
We picked off the prefixed menu. GREAT value & lots of food. Really good dining experience
I have been a couple times and disappointed each time. Service is horrible, food is mediocre.
The food was amazing and our service was excellent. We were in using our Groupon and it was seamless. Will always go back!!
have had good food here before , got to houlihans at 5:30 had reservation because had other plans ordered the cheesy burger where they bring the melted cheese to your table and put it on in front of you this went well until took a bite we ordered medium and both burgers were really really overly well done and the bacon was brown and crunchy not crisp (overcooked) i did inform the waitress but did not have time for a remake she did not ask if i wanted to talk to a manager just left us to eat with overcooked food
Had a 12PM reservation, finally seated at 12:29PM. Frustrated.
Fantastic service, friendly waiters, the food is good and the price is fair. Shortest waiting time.
Our server, Olivia, was extremely attentive and pleasant. We had a wonderful dinner.
the meatloaf was wonderful, better than mine! I'm a frequent customer because the food and service is great!
Restaurant Week menu was very good - great variety. We expected the Appetizer portion to be small plates - they were full size - so great to share with everyone. Excellent meal - we had a great time.
Party of 4 adults - booth was a bit tight (no overweight people - all just regular adults)
No Coat hook or rack - nowhere to put our coats - which added to the booth being a bit tight. Will request a larger booth in the winter months.
I thought the art decor depicting photos/paintings of vandalized rail cars by graffiti to be very tasteless. This shows that Houlihan's promotes the degradation of private property. After that being said; The food was very good and the wait staff was efficient and friendly.
So great as usual!!
I have brought clients to the OP location a couple times per month for the past several years. The food and atmosphere has always been great, but the professionalism of the service staff has degraded significantly during the past couple of years. There seems to be more attention toward turning tables than ensuring that the guests enjoy their dining experience. The last few times I have visited, the staff seemed somewhat cold and annoyed at any distraction between our initial order and the delivery of the food. During our last visit, our server was only available for our initial order and to bring the check. Our tab would have been much higher if we would have had the opportunity to order more than one drink and could have ordered coffee and/or dessert at the end. The Manager was present, but seemed more focused on running food than managing the house.
Very good experience
We dine at Houlihan's often. We like the happy hour menu and we like the regular menu options. The challenge on New Year's Eve is that the restaurant was extremely busy and crowded. Our server was so nice but he was really having to hustle to serve all of his tables, so it took awhile for him to get to us and take our order. Our entrees arrived while we were still eating our salad, so once the order was placed the food came out quickly. Unlike normally, the Caesar salad was just not good. Our entree was above average. All-in-all, however, they did a pretty darn good job of keeping up with the many diners they were taking care of that evening. We appreciate Houlihan's and will go back when it is a bit less busy.
Houlihans is my go to place. Meals are hand made and fresh. Menus are updated with new meals so it never gets old. Good management and staff.
Had a fairly good time w/my boyfriend there 12/28/2018 at 8. It was weird when we ordered food, the entrees were small portions that came on very large plates. So there was a lot of left over space; that did not look appealing. So, for our appetizer we got the spinach dip with chips and that was pretty good, and the calamari... that was subpar. Now on to the entree, he ordered the prime rib medium rare with mashers and asparagus. That was the SMALLEST piece of steak I’ve ever seen in my life. Ugh. The mashers were dry and inedible, it’s like there was no seasoning anywhere. We literallly had to dump salt on everything we ate. I ordered the salmon w/mashers and a Caesar salad. He ordered a Caesar salad on the side as well. Their Caesar dressing was spicy for some reason.. didn’t really taste like Caesar dressing. Barely touched our salads. Barely touched our mashers. The salmon was good with a BUNCH of lemon squeezed on it and salt. Now to the desserts.. he got the creme brûlée, that was ok. He enjoyed it more than I did. And their brownie batter cake was very dense. I understand how some cakes are very rich and dense but they’re still edible. That cake tasted like chocolate flavored chalk.. even the ice cream didn’t make it better. And the ice cream wasn’t even that good either... I don’t even know why I initially chose that place in the first place now. Just careful what you order. They have huge plates for small portions. The lighting and ambiance was nice for a date but I wish the food matched that same energy. I didn’t get a chance to take the pic of his steak and our desserts but yeh.. the jist
Service was slow, food was so so. Noise level was hi since we were sitting right under the kitchen. Should of saved my money and went to McDonald’s.
Slightly disappointed. Did not have several menu items available as they had run out. Food was fairly average. Not sure I would return.
Our server was awesome! She even took a picture for us. Food was delicious. Very noisy!
Open Table lists bar seating as an option. We chose bar seating for Sunday Happy Hour. But Houlihan's has an open bar policy. Management was kind enough to offer us Happy Hour pricing, but regular seating. Hopefully, Open Table will fix the listing so there won't be any future mixups. Houlihan's is a consistently good food.
Very busy but great service and tasty menu.
Got seated in a timely manner . Middle of Xmas rush. Attentive server.
We were seated cordially and on time of our reservation. The special food menu was excellent as was the price.
We just ordered burgers and fries but they were delicious and filling. The service was great and our food arrived quickly.
Met mom for dinner that night. We grabbed dinner prior to going to concert. It was noisy and i felt as though we were sitting right in top of other patrons. Burgers were good but my fries were cold and mom’s were hot. They brought me out new fries that were food.
Our waitress was on top of it and so sweet! We really enjoyed our date.
Food was great, but they ran out of 14 oz steaks at 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day
Houlihans did not skimp on their food for Thanksgiving. We were all surprised at the thick slices and plentiful slices of roast turkey on our plates. Our dinner came with a scoop full of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, plenty of green beans and a small cup of cranberry sauce that was a sweet touch to the savory taste of everything else. The dinner came with a choice of potato soup or salad as well as a choice of pie—pumpkin or apple. The apple pie was more like a cobbler and yummy. Couldn’t beat this meal at $21.95 per adult. The service was exceptional! Coming back next year.
Food was mediocre at best. Ceasar salad was just plain bad. Server was ok, though food took forever to be served once ordered....1 hour plus. And we all ordered the standard thanksgiving dinner, which you would think they'd have had plenty of. We enjoyed each others company but our meal wasn't part of our memories.
Neeed mre Thanksgiving food choices......sweet potatoes and pecan pie.
Houlihan’s is doing a great job at this location. Eat here often and find the food and service to be constantly good.
It is frustrating when an item is ordered and 8 minutes later the server returns to replace the order; but without a menu. If out of an item let everyone know- if short do a countdown— and bring a menu for reordering.
Excellent service and food. Great selection as well.
Our reservation was not ready at the specified time. Very frustrating. Time management should be key.
Enjoy going to Houlihans every couple months to meet friends for dinner. Great food choices and good food/drinks. Only problem this time was a to-go order I was taking with me was missing part of the meal.
I always enjoy Houlihan’s. The location nearest to my home in Liberty, MO lost its lease, so I haven’t been able to do my usual once a week visit. However, when I am shopping or running errands in the parts of Kansas City that have this restaurant I will drop by. Love their burgers, the stuffed chicken breast and mashed potatoes!
Second time here. Three of the five meals were very good. One was bad and one (filet mignon) was inedible. Our waitress didn’t charge for the food but it was either spoiled meat or had something else very wrong with it.
