Hotel Chantelle Ratings and Reviews
We ordered several appetizers. The pork belly was crispy and flavorful. The grilled octopus was tender; prepared perfectly. The buffalo cauliflower could have been spicier, but still tasty.
Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. We were not rushed, even though we sat for a long time. A very pleasant ambiance!
I was very happy when i first came into the spot. The music was great and the vibe was awesome. Until i went upstairs for brunch. I waited 20 minutes before a waiter came back to service my table and it went down hill from there. I am not sure if its because we were among the last few tables to be seated or what. After numerous times of being ignored and countless times of me going up to the hostess i requested for a manager. That was completely a jerk!!! I told him we were there celebrating a birthday and that we have been experiencing a poor dining experience. He insulted me by comping my drinks that were equal to 2 bucks. I asked for a cake for to celebrate my friends birthday and was told the kitchen was closed, however the party before us and after us were given a cake. not for nothing but i feel as if they only catered to people of non color. I will definitely will never go back and quite disappointed.
In an effort to trying something new, I ditched the usual bottomless brunch and dragged my brunch squad here on a Saturday afternoon (11/11) at 1 pm.
Atmosphere: The band playing was super loud but you'll get used to it or won't notice them once the alcohol starts to kick in (Sangria punch bowl). The rooftop is extremely hot and will become uncomfortable depending on the number of drinks you have and layers you have on.
Food: There are a variety of options on the menu. My friends and I wanted to try the M.O.A.B.urger (Mother of all burgers) but they ran out. We all ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of fries and tater tots. The portion of food here is a lot skimpier than other brunch spots I have visited and not worth the price.
Drinks: We (a group of 4) ordered the sangria punch bowl which is recommended for groups of 10-12. If you're among lightweights I would not recommend if you are a party smaller than 6-8. Our tolerance is a bit high so we were fine. We also ordered a round of the easy passage but it was trash.
Service: The service here is subpar. We had to ask our waiter twice for the sides we ordered with our meals. We received our sides 20 minutes after receiving our meals.
Overall: The only reason I am giving this place any stars is because of the sangria punch bowl. Gratuity is automatically added due to discounted special brunch cocktail pricing which would be fine if service did not suck. They also sneak water service on to the bill which is not cool since you are not asked whether you want sparkling or tap.
I have gone to several brunches in NYC and Hotel Chantelle is by far my favorite. I made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon with my best friend and we were impressed with the entire experience. The rooftop was absolutely beautiful, there was live jazz music, and the menu had a great selection. I will absolutely be back here.
Great restaurant in the hotel - bar was small but nice. Decorated well, not too dark and not too noisy. Food was delicious (try the brussel sprouts). We went there for the Beyond Burger™ which is VEGAN - BUT it is served on a brioche bun, (which is not Vegan). The only other bread option they had was the gluten free bread - which was fine, but I think they toasted in with butter - so they don't know what VEGAN is. We also wanted the buffalo cauliflower but when we got there, we found out that the cheese is mixed in with the sauce. So, as far as VEGAN dining, we did not succeed very well but we did love the wine and the salad and the brussel sprouts and the restaurant. Just wish that more great places offered real VEGAN options.
It may not look like much from the outside, but Hotel Chantelle is quite the pleasant surprise inside. Warm, friendly staff and cool music welcome you in, and there are comfy candle-lit tables and a full bar. The menu is very creative -- everything from chicken and waffle "pops" with warm maple syrup to a pretzel with cheese dip, to luscious lobster pot pie (what a crust! loaded with large morsels of lobster!) and cavatelli pasta with butternut squash, candied walnuts, and a browned butter and sage. Portions are just right and of high quality, but save room for dessert! The Mounds dessert is ridiculous! It's like a lava chocolate cake but the center is coconut!!! It's everything chocolate and coconut should be. The value was good, too. We went there relatively early for dinner on a Wednesday night, but I bet this place is hoppin' on the weekends.
Despite it being a little too loud, the place was good to meet up with friends. The food waa worth the wait. I had the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. I had to get a side of bacon though. That was my only meal for the day. Regardless, food was good, price was decent. Definitely get the pitcher of the vodka drink. 8
The hostess was terrible , the food was ok not memorable and the bar tender was excellent, I think her name was Gabrielle I even mentioned it to the manager. The ambiance was ok and I expected more of a view from the photos on the website but it was ok, I wasn’t really impressed. If I do go back it will only be to the bar.
Amazing food, love the ambience and service was really attentive! Came for a birthday and the birthday boy got a shot on the house! They were supposed to send a dessert but since the kitchen was closed by the time we were ready for dessert they sent over a shot instead. Super happy!
Super disappointed. The only good thing about this place was being seated right away. We had chicken meatballs that were rubbery. Our waitress rushed us to clear away our plates to get ready for our dinners. Then she left us for 45 minutes. We had to wave her down and ask what happened to our food, she ran to check and returned to say that the host was calling down to the kitchen. A minute later our dishes arrived, all cold. We figured they must have been sitting around for at least half an hour. It was past ten and we didn’t feel like complaining because we didn’t want to wait another hour for food. It was such a disappointment that everyone was still complaining the next day. We will never go back or recommend it to anyone.
hostesses are not the greatest- can be snide/attitudinal...will often say no spaces are available without a reservation while several tables sit there empty...also the live music can be a little quirky at times...maybe use a stereo system and just play modern music, would liven the vibe
We had the best evening Here, totally took advantage of the happy hour deals oysters $1 each I had these for a starter yummy..cocktails are fresh and great value. I booked a Wednesday night groupon deal 2 lobster bake meals, 2 drinks & 2 desserts $67 Amazing service & ambience certainly will be revisiting xx
We came primarily because it was a rooftop restaurant and had great reviews. We were not disappointed. We were seated before our reserved time, the service was prompt and efficient and the food was wonderful. Arguably the best french toast I ever had, stuffed with ricotta and served with real maple syrup. My partner had lobster eggs Benedict, also wonderful. The deviled egg appetizer was a great start, perfectly made and three different kinds. The view is nothing special but great to eat outdoors and the restaurant is charming. Highly recommended.
Really cute space on the rooftop and very good live jazz duo. But this place is a factory, give you a 1-1/2 hour maximum for Sunday brunch. Fine for a typical meal, but Sunday brunch is leisurely and slow-paced. We chose to sit at the bar where there is no time limit and the full menu is avaialable. That helped, but the drinks are not very good so we ended up going to a different place later to enjoy Sunday brunch drinks. Food items are great, but not executed as well as they could be. For example, the breakfast sausage lollipops with pancake crust were a bit doughy. The fried chicken in the chicken and waffles was a bit bland. The truffle egg fondue was heaven, though!
This is my second dinner at Hotel Chantelle, sort of disappointed compared to the first. Between the two appetizers and entrees, the Broccoli Flatbread was hands -down the best pick, highly recommended. The roasted brussel sprouts were good but nothing spectacular. The real let-downs were the entrees - the vegetarian burger was trying too hard to taste like meat, but it was unremarkable-tasting meat, and the texture was chewy. The sides that came with the smoked salmon (radishes and romaine lettuce) were tasty but the salmon itself wasn't anything noteworthy. My husband and I dined here on a gifted groupon, otherwise the prices really wouldn't have been worth it. On my last trip I had mushroom ravioli, no longer available but THAT had been really delicious, and the fish tacos, still available and definitely would have gotten them again if I didn't get a fish entree this time. Overall, this restaurant is most worth it for the happy hour (that's where you actually get a good value) and the appetizers (the best, most intense flavors).
We had a great time at Hotel Chantelle. We were on a girls trip with 6 girls and were looking forward to the open air rooftop restaurant and were disappointed that the roof couldn’t be opened up due to weather. However, the food was tasty and creative! We loved most everything we got, except for the chicken and waffles on a stick. It literally tasted like it was microwaved. We all tried a bite and everyone hated it. It was surprising because everything else was wonderful! The drinks were fun and delicious! Service was ok. Fun atmosphere!
We got seated for our 730 reservation and then we're told that we had to leave the table by 930 because they had a big reservation coming. That is rude and unprofessional
The food is great but I'll think about coming here again.
I don't like time restrictions when dinning and specially when you have out of town guests visiting.
A bustling and loud brunch! Great priced drinks with the brunch option. A live band we're playing whilst we are - lots of fun but maybe a little too loud as we couldn't hear each other speak. Reasonable quality food and great service. A must visit with friends and larger groups.
Do not drink the Sangria. It's completely awful.
Chicken and waffles appetizer was not worth the money.
The ambience was wonderful for our date night.
Have the skirt steak, it's so tender an succulent.
My boyfriend had the scallops.
The best was the apple crumble dessert. Oh so yummy!
I want to go back for brunch.
It was my first time dining at Hotel Chantelle and it was fantastic. It was a Friday night and I was running late from Long Island, but the staff was so accommodating and didn't make it a big deal. Cool spot located in the lower east side with a cute rooftop area. My friend was there for happy hour and the prices were right. I had a delicious peach bourbon drink and also had the salmon for my dinner. Both were exceptional and the presentation was on point. Can't wait to make my way back.
Throughly enjoyed my time at Hotel Chantelle. The service was prompt. The scenery was beautiful. Quiet rooftop dining. Food was delicious. Great portion sizes. The waitress who brought our food was very friendly and attentive. I was impressed and would dine there again.
