Hot Rocks - Sear. Sizzle. Savor.
Hot rock cooking is one of the oldest styles of cooking, dating back to 7,000 B.C., yet it is relatively new to Wisconsin. We introduced hot rock cooking to our menu in 2016. It soon became so popular, that we decided to make it the centerpiece of the dining experience in our restaurant.
In fact, in the summer of 2018, we used it as an opportunity to reimagine, rebrand, and rename ourselves.
Why? Because it’s hot and fresh, at your table, exactly as you like it.
Great food and service. Our waiter was amazing!
Service & ambiance was great! Filet mignon had fatty pieces on it....disappointed by that part! All other food was good
I made a reservation for 8 pm. When my husband, baby and I arrived, we were told they were closed. The door was not locked. We walked right in. There were 4 other people at the bar. The host was at the bar eating. She got up from the bar to let us know the restaurant was closed. I confirmed that she just stated they were closed. I asked for the hours. She said open to close. I asked what time is close. She replied until close. On the website the hours are until 9 pm. The restaurant unofficially closed before their posted closing time. No manager came to speak with us. Very rude and unprofessional.
Was understaffed, didnt like open table ( told someone to turn off reservations after sitting us). The page system didnt work (which seems like a cop out instead of just checking on tables) Quantity and Quality of food lacks. Salmon was falling apart.
A very unique dining experience! Our group tried the scallops, rack of lamb, lobster, and fillet — all turned out fantastic! Definitely coming back for more.
Was a very nice atmosphere. Waiter was very nice.
Very cool place to go. Good service and nice atmosphere. Food was fabulous!!
It was great food, and great service! Maybe some steak toppings. And needs a better ventilation system! Smokey and only half full
Service was slow and not very attentive. Food was just ok. The concept is amazing and the atmosphere is right.
Love that you can cook your own food. Great food!!
We sat at the table for 20 mins and nobody wanted to wait on us. All the other tables around us that got seated after were promptly waited on. We decided to get up and leave and wont be back anytime soon.
Different dining experience. Servers should check in with guests more often. Very good food.
Our family had a great time. Our little guy had fun. He loved the fun drinks and dessert!
For cooking your own food I feel the price should be a little more reasonable. My Husband's 24oz Ribeye had a good amount of gristle in it, for a $54 steak in my opinion that's unacceptable. The stone worked fine for my 12oz Ribeye but wasn't hot enough to cook my Husband's he had to use mine for some of his. You use the same utensils to cut raw meat as you do to eat which isn't very sanitary. All in all we wouldn't go back or recommend it I feel the price point doesn't match the quality.
OUR SERVER WAS WONDERFUL. HE WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND QUICK. COOKING THE MEAT MYSELF WAS FUN. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS.
Our family enjoyed cooking on the hot rock and the food was amazing.
A little on the pricey side but it is the Dells in summer - not sure if the prices will stay in the offseason - service was great, large layout to accommodate larger groups, outdoor seating - only issue was out booth's table felt like it was on a pivot or about to fall off.
Great experience a must try
Had such a fun time! The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. It’s was a bit pricey, but worth it!
was so much fun great time delicious food cooked to order because you cook it
Been going to the high end restaurants like Ishnala and Fields in the Dells for the last hand full of years. We were looking for something different because their prices are typical but the steaks have fallen short consistently for years . Hot Rocks was the best steak dinner we had last week in the dells out of these 3 places. The Hot Rocks Steaks had that top notch aged flavor that we havent seen from Fields since they were back in the woods. Those 2 places have been replaced in our book. They have a great Atmosphere but if you want a great tasting steak go to Hot Rocks> You wont be disappointed.

I have never experienced anything like this. It was a neat place to explore while on vacation. I would highly recommend the adventure to anyone traveling to the Dells area!
I really loved the unique dining service and the unique style of the restaurant. The only issue was that when I was seated, it took about 10-15 minutes before the waiter even introduced himself to us. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
It was definitely a new dining experience! I wasn't sure how it was going to be "cooking my own" steak, but it was no problem. It truly cooks the way it says it's going to. The quality of the steak was excellent! I dine out at a lot of "fancy" steak places in Milwaukee and let me tell you...this was right up there in the quality of the meat! Our waiter was very cordial, friendly, knowledgeable and informative! Will definitely dine there again the next time we are in the Wisconsin Dells!!
Such a unique experience!
Hot Rocks was a delicious experience. It was fun to be able to cook your own food on the rocks. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. I wish there was one closer to my home.
We would definitely eat there again.
Our main course was served before we had time to finish our salads. Salads were not included but a la cart. Not enjoyably to be halfway thru the salad course and have your main course now on the table.
I ordeted baked fish. My husband ordered fried fish. Both were raw inside. The fried fish even had batter on it that wasn’t cooked.
Manager was accommodating regarding removing the main course from our bill.
Still paid $22 and didn’t have dinner.
My husband and I visited here on our weekend getaway to the dells to celebrate our one year anniversary. We both agreed that our meal was thee best food we had tasted in a long time. Our server was absolutely wonderful. Can’t wait to go back!
We loved it here! Meat and fish were great quality! What a unique experience to sear your own meat on a lava rock!
A compete lack of familiarity by the waitstaff and bar tenders with the food and drink menu. We left after the salads were not prepared as the menu described four different times and to top it off then they still tried to charge us for the salads. It was so bad we literally thought we were being punked.
The kids loved cooking there own food. Everything was great!
What a fun place to eat at and great experience. Beyond a place that redefines cooking dinner the restaurant has a good menu and quality food. Really enjoyed the experience and let’s not forget the great desserts and drinks.
I’ve been to a lot of restaurants but I haven’t found one this unique and with such caring servers the price for how good our steaks were was amazing. I would gladly come here again when I come back to the dells you did not disappoint, my boyfriend and I are very pleased and will be coming back!!
It was OK at best. Service was not good, but that is typical in the Dells. Food was good, not great. I wish they offered sauces and more selections
Sunday night with 9 people. The place was nearly empty when we arrived for an 8:30 seating. It made us wonder why it was nearly empty. As it turned out everyone had fun cooking there own dish. The food was excellent and so was the service. For a resort area the price was inline. We’d definitely go back.
Wonderful experience! Filet medallions were amazing. Kids loves the volcano ice cream dessert. Great service! Will return next time we are in the area.
Everything was great, food, service and atmosphere however it was very pricey.
We had a great time!! Service was great and cooking your food on the lava rocks was a really different experience! We loved it!!
I love the idea of cooking your steak right in front of you. The steak was delicious but I feel there could have been more vegetables and potatoes in the meal. I came here two years ago and felt that there was much more potatoes and vegetables on the side. We all left kind of hungry.
Fun for a different night out. Food quality was good and staff was friendly
