Hot Rocks - Sear. Sizzle. Savor.
Hot rock cooking is one of the oldest styles of cooking, dating back to 7,000 B.C., yet it is relatively new to Wisconsin. We introduced hot rock cooking to our menu in 2016. It soon became so popular, that we decided to make it the centerpiece of the dining experience in our restaurant.
In fact, in the summer of 2018, we used it as an opportunity to reimagine, rebrand, and rename ourselves.
Why? Because it’s hot and fresh, at your table, exactly as you like it.
Our table is a bit crowded. It's elbow to elbow and it is hard to cook our food in a small place with 9 people and the different sauces on the sides of our hot rock. Otherwise, everything is good.
Loved the steak being cooked at your table on a hot rock. This place is a gem. And they wear masks!!
Our visit to the Hot Rock was superb. It is a very unique experience and one we heartily recommend.
Mediocre experience despite our servers good intentions. Hard to overcome poor quality of food items. Somewhat cheesy atmosphere - extremely touristy and gimmicky. Would not recommend. Far overpriced for the meal and experience.
Great overall. No complaints. Food was surprisingly very good. I had low expectations as I don't hear anyone locally talking about it. Only suggestion of improvement is in atmosphere.. it looked great, lighting was great, however, the mood was lost by the music... It was pleasant pop rock but it just didn't fit the mood that the place markets, the decor, the menu, etc. So it kinda ruined that effect. It could have hot a home run with the right hawaiian, tropical music.
My kids and I thought the food and overall experience was outstanding! Such a fun and unique platform to cook your food on 700 degree volcanic rock!! It was my daughter’s birthday, which made the trip even more special.
Service was excellent she explained the process great. Food was yummy would recommend
We had a lovely time. We arrived a bit late but we didn’t feel rushed. The sever was very attentive. The food was outstanding. The server was also very kind and brought out an extra dessert and candles for our daughter’s birthday, she was so happy and surprised. Overall we had a excellent experience and would definitely go back!!
Had fun "searing" our dinners (ahi tuna). Portion for the tuna was 2x the size expected. Salt & Pepper Calamari was good but wished more Cocktail sauce provided so we had to choose Tartar Sauce which I have never seen served with Calamari.
Very interesting experience. Worth a one time try, but considering you do the work of cooking, too expensive to go on a regular basis.
All servers seem to be racing around. Our server never came back to refill water or ask if you want additional drinks. We were not instructed on the tiki remote maybe would’ve would’ve gotten drinks if we known we had to press the button to ask for it.
Husbands birthday.
Food very overpriced and also overseasoned. We did get great service from our server who was very sweet.
Amazing food and environment!
The food was great
First time eating her and it was wonderful. The food was top notch. Our waitress Sara was very knowledgeable about the first, how to cook it and answered every question we had. Sara even made suggestions when we asked what was hot rocks specialties. Didn't sway us just suggested. We already have plans to go back in 2 weeks and are bringing our family.
Really good food 😋 very high recommended, good staff
Too much smoke, they need a ventilation system, otherwise delicious! Unfortunately they ran out of ribbeye steak which is why we went their in the first place : (
Food was excellent. The services is too slow. This was our second visit and we thought the service will improve but it took 15 minutes to take the order of drinks and another 15 minutes to have them... needs to have more servers. Our server had to many tables.
The service we received was phenomenal. Great food and fun, relaxing atmosphere!
Great atmosphere and a unique experience. We dine here every time we visit the Dells!
It was very much a "novelty". The tenderloin medallions were fantastic. The drinks were good. The service was a little slow, considering that they are essentially serving you a hot rock and raw meat... and restaurant was a little cold....but I'm being very picky now. It was fun. We both thought it was quite pricey for "what you got"... total package, including portion. The "meat" / protein portion was adequate...vegetable side was scant.....did leave seeking a "cheaper" place for dessert. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I rush there again and again? Nah....
Great food and service. Our waiter was amazing!
Service & ambiance was great! Filet mignon had fatty pieces on it....disappointed by that part! All other food was good
I made a reservation for 8 pm. When my husband, baby and I arrived, we were told they were closed. The door was not locked. We walked right in. There were 4 other people at the bar. The host was at the bar eating. She got up from the bar to let us know the restaurant was closed. I confirmed that she just stated they were closed. I asked for the hours. She said open to close. I asked what time is close. She replied until close. On the website the hours are until 9 pm. The restaurant unofficially closed before their posted closing time. No manager came to speak with us. Very rude and unprofessional.
Was understaffed, didnt like open table ( told someone to turn off reservations after sitting us). The page system didnt work (which seems like a cop out instead of just checking on tables) Quantity and Quality of food lacks. Salmon was falling apart.
A very unique dining experience! Our group tried the scallops, rack of lamb, lobster, and fillet — all turned out fantastic! Definitely coming back for more.
Was a very nice atmosphere. Waiter was very nice.
Very cool place to go. Good service and nice atmosphere. Food was fabulous!!
It was great food, and great service! Maybe some steak toppings. And needs a better ventilation system! Smokey and only half full
Service was slow and not very attentive. Food was just ok. The concept is amazing and the atmosphere is right.
Love that you can cook your own food. Great food!!
We sat at the table for 20 mins and nobody wanted to wait on us. All the other tables around us that got seated after were promptly waited on. We decided to get up and leave and wont be back anytime soon.
Different dining experience. Servers should check in with guests more often. Very good food.
Our family had a great time. Our little guy had fun. He loved the fun drinks and dessert!
For cooking your own food I feel the price should be a little more reasonable. My Husband's 24oz Ribeye had a good amount of gristle in it, for a $54 steak in my opinion that's unacceptable. The stone worked fine for my 12oz Ribeye but wasn't hot enough to cook my Husband's he had to use mine for some of his. You use the same utensils to cut raw meat as you do to eat which isn't very sanitary. All in all we wouldn't go back or recommend it I feel the price point doesn't match the quality.
OUR SERVER WAS WONDERFUL. HE WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND QUICK. COOKING THE MEAT MYSELF WAS FUN. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS.
Our family enjoyed cooking on the hot rock and the food was amazing.
A little on the pricey side but it is the Dells in summer - not sure if the prices will stay in the offseason - service was great, large layout to accommodate larger groups, outdoor seating - only issue was out booth's table felt like it was on a pivot or about to fall off.
Great experience a must try
