Horizons is one of our all time favorites on Amelia Island. The chef and owner, Courtney Thompson, is a genius with fresh fish. Everything we’ve ever eaten there has been wonderful, but the fish is outstanding. Don’t leave without having a piece of her coconut cream cake - outstanding!
Our favorite place to eat on the island. One of our guests said best meal she’s ever had and could eat there every night. Don’t forgo the soufflé for dessert. Incredible!
Hidden gem. Favorite place to go on Amelia Island. Food is fantastic and the souffles are amazing.
We are foodies and felt the food was great, better than the food that we had at the Omni Plantation restaurants, and 1/2 of the price. Went for dinner and Hubby had the meatloaf which he loved, I had the flounder with corn relish- it was the best meal I have had while down here this week. Try the coconut cake, it’s fantastic!
Owner and wait staff are warm and welcoming. The food is consistently good and the dessert souffle is to die for!
Great feel. Staff really care and are interested in service. I would for sure recommend it for couple dinner.
Great place! Entertaining and fun. Food was fabulous ~
Food was excellent, wine, a generous pour. Look forward to going back.
Our meal was delicious. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Wasn't crowded so the noise level was zero.
The food is always excellent and we always look forward to coming back!
Not well prepared for large Valentine crowd. Ran out of food, didn’t have any house Cabernet. Wait staff was very young and not as attentive as they should be. Food was awesome though! I think it was just an off night for them and I’d still go back.
Wonderful, healthy, delicious meal. Great service!
Always have a great experience at horizon. The food is very good and service excellent. Try the blue snapper, you will not be disappointed.
Food was mediocre taste wise, and food that was supposed to be hot was cold.
Made reservations though "Open Table". Called restaurant to confirm, and they replied that no reservation had shown up. Reserved over phone. Seated promptly after arrival @ 1815. Chose from "Restaurant Week" menu. Both of us had same entree and thought the green beans could have been cooked about a minute longer. Pretty crunchy, even for "Al Dente". Consistently good food over the years we have been coming. Understand changes are coming to Horizons. Will try again after they're made.
All 4 of us enjoyed our dinner. The noise level was very pleasant for a comfortable outing.
Desserts that were had very delicious. Molten cake outstanding.
We chose Horizons because they served Beef Wellington on their special restaurant week menu. The entrees were brought to our table with a 3/8-1/2 inch fillet of beef wrapped in mostly RAW pastry dough. We ordered the beef cooked medium, brown with a red center. It arrived medium rare, to rare, fatty and stringy. After explaining that the pastry was still raw, ie: semi translucent uncooked, it was taken back to the kitchen. What was brought back was my beef with the old pastry removed put between 2 layers of pre-cooked cold pastry layers. Certainly not beef Wellington. The vegetables that were served had been precooked, sitting in a warm plate. We were offered two glasses of wine, (or a dessert which was already included with the meal) as compensation. My idea of restaurant week is a time when restaurants are trying to gain new customers. Never again! Don’t waste your money! This was most certainly NOT $41/dinner quality!! The price point FAR exceeds the quality. And, the “compensation” was insufficient to offset a ruined meal!
Restaurant week attendees, service (Shawn) was attentive and very helpful only surpassed by the quality and value of the food. Blackened grouper was the star of the show.
LOVE eating here; we ate here during Restaurant Week and loved the choices! Am saddened to hear that Courtney is moving onto another game but wish her ALL the VERY BEST. Hope whoever takes over Horizons or "NEW Horizons" is as good as she is.
The food was outstanding! Meat cooked just as I asked. Wild mushroom and brie soup was excellent
Our waiter, Sean, was very personable and interesting to talk to. He took excellent care of our table. The food for restaurant week was excellent.
Great ambience and we had a wonderful time. Kudos to Courtney and her crew.
I have had many great meals at Horizons, but was disappointed in the citrus encrusted fish that I ordered during Restaurant Week. The fish was definitely overcooked and looked blackened (although this was not the description). Also the Bread Pudding had little flavor and was very dry. I am hopeful that this was a one time experience and other's at the table who ordered different entrees were very pleased with their meals.
Lunch was so so.. not heated well. Cheese was barely melted.
Odd experience; on a Saturday night, only 3-4 tables were full, or even set. Good food, thoughtfully prepared, but with zero atmosphere. The overall experience belies the kitchen.
Outstanding food as always, > 20 years dining there.
Great food and service in this local restaurant. Their Chardonnay Wine List is outstanding with many wines to choose from at very competitive prices. Definitely will be back again.
Steak & Lobster was delicious! Nice crowd & atmosphere.
Simple but very nice ambiance. My every visit has always left me feeling really good about using open table for my reservation. Splendid service and the waiter is a joy to have served you.
Good neighborhood eatery with very good value.
Snapper and Lobster bisque excellent.
We have enjoyed dining at Horizons for years. The food has always been fresh and excellent. We are at the beach and expect fresh seafood. Horizons does not disappoint. Please do not expect deep fried. This seafood is much more elegantly prepared. My father prefers beef and he declared the medallions excellent. The waiter did an excellent job too.
This restaurant greatly exceeded my expectations! There were so many entrees that appealed to me and everyone in our party loved what they ordered. The appetizers were excellent, salads were fresh and the main dishes (rack of lamb, seafood cioppino, chicken piccata and salmon dish) were all amazing. We will be back. Great find and would definitely recommend!
The food was absolutely amazing!!! Blackened blue snapper was out of this world! Highly recommend!
The food was great. I was in the area for a business dinner and Horizons worked out great. I would absolutely recommend it.
Outstanding fish prep and specials that are unique. Salads and app specials also featured.
Excellent local restaurant with a nice menu and fairly priced wine list. It was our 2nd visit since we moved into the area 2 weeks and we will be back. We enjoyed each of the menu items selected and they were all cooked to perfection.
A salad as an entree. Excellent. My husband had the whitefish. Fabulous. Would definitely go back
Very nice evening out with my sweetheart! Both looking forward to our next visit.
Food great as always. Gumbo awesome. Groper prepared perfectly. Soufflé amazing. Wines are amazingly inexpensive. Hard to find a better on the island. Just a little hard to find, in the back of Berkshire/Hathaway.
Great food meets great friends. Just off First Coast Hwy, a restaurant with gourmet food that you are craving. A relaxed island atmosphere . One side with while linen table cloths and the other with booths and place mats. I met a charming and loving couple, The Hooves, so delightful and friendly. Chef Cortney ( and owner) is wonderful...so talented!! The food is good; cooked to order. Gluten free available upon request. The day I went, they launched a new menu.
