Place was closed when we arrived said they shutdown
It took over an hour for the food to come on a Sunday afternoon. Clearly something was off in the kitchen. When the food did come it was all very good from Breakfast items to salads and pizza. Cool atmosphere, parking is challenging.
Good food, came out a little cold. Service was terrible!!
It was horrible. The hostess at the front took my friend and I to am excluded area of the restaurant outside of where everyone else was sitting. 10 minutes went by and no one came over to greet us or bring water. Another 10 minutes goes by and I finally got one waitress attention near the bar. She told us that she was unaware we were even sitting over there. Felt very discriminatory to me because I am unsure why we were sat over there in the first place instead of with the others. Then, there was only one waitress working over 6 tables. How is that okay... we just gathered our coats and left because we were not pleased and there was no apology given.
Had my work group’s holiday party here and had a great time. Great venue with lots of space and activity options, plus lots of wonderful food choices (there were a few allergies) and excellent drinks. 10/10 would recommend
I made my reservation 3 weeks before we were scheduled to attend an event in the city. I received a call several days before to confirm my reservation. We show up only to be told the restaurant is closed due to a private party but we could sit in the lounge (no tables) if we wanted but there was a limited menu. When I asked why they would take and confirm my reservation if they were not serving dinner the girl had no idea why and did nothing to make it right. Threw our whole evening into chaos as we had to find somewhere else to eat and make it to our event on time. I will never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Our experience was horrible. We booked this restaurant for a chill birthday dinner. Shortly after booking the reservation I received a call confirming the reservation. Fast forward to the day of the dinner we all arrived to a day party just ending. We had a vet difficult time finding the staff, as there were customers who sat behind the desk where the staff should have been. When we finally found a staff person to assist us we were informed we were not even supposed to be able to book a reservation at all. We were there for a birthday and ended up having to find somewhere else to go at the last minute. The birthday girl was devastated.
Fun filled and welcoming.
I made my reservation through open table a week ago after seeing pictures of the beautiful ambiance and offerings via social media. However, when arriving to the restaurant we learned that they were actually closed. Hops still honored our reservation! This really meant a lot to me because it was my moms birthday and finding and relocating to a new restaurant would’ve been aggravating and a lot to do last minute...so I really appreciate the flexibility and hospitality despite the mishap in the booking system! The best part about the experience was that the food was AMAZING. Chef Shay and the manager Terrance really took care of us despite the fact that they did not have anystaff or a bartender working. They were very pleasant, checked on us regularly and my mom left with all smiles! I will certainly be returning to dine at Hops (during business hours Lol) and I will be recommending to my family and friends as well. Thank you so much again!
Loved the restaurant! The waitress was super nice, and the overall atmosphere was laid back and relaxing.
Well it was terrible. Our waitress went MIA, food took forever and then only half came. Then they said they would comp the food that never came, but when the bill came...the missing food was still on it. Don’t waste your time or money here.
This place is absolutely horrible. I do not recommend going here. We waited over an hour for a pizza and our drinks remained dry unless we flagged down our waiter who couldn’t of cared less about anything going on at the table. You could clearly see the kitchen and the workers within on their phones, while it was plain that food was taking longer than acceptable to reach a table. We managed to get a manger when she brought food to our table. When told of our complaints she did nothing to compensate for the underwhelming service and food. We had to remind them to take things off our bill because most if not all of our food was inedible. I would recommend this place to someone you really didn’t like.

I really didn’t like the mandatory pre assigned seating. I placed my reservation a month prior to date and had no say on where I sat nor was I notified about my seating. Also, I was charged for someone else’s drinks. The servers we’re really polite and the music was GREAT. I just wish those two obstacles could’ve been avoided.
My Family Had A Great TIME And We're Coming BACK!!!!!!!!!!
Our waitress, Deborah, was so nice and sweet.
I ordered a cobb salad. When it came out, the lettuce was wilted and not fresh at all. I was highly disappointed! I really wanted another salad, but was afraid that it would look the same. I ended up having to order the chicken/shrimp pasta, which was good, just not what I had a taste for.
Took a long time to get food. Waitress was wonderful but a brunch waiting an hour for a food was tough. Food was okay, not great.
Food is consistently good. However, the service is lacking- often can’t find our server, they forget an order, or a drink. Their Big Hop at brunch is pretty great and reasonably priced for how much you get. But stay away from the mimosa- had them on two separate occasions and it’s flat cheap champagne.
Food was horrible. Drinks were weak. Price is high. Good looking place and a nice waitress. I don’t think it will last. I won’t go back
Redo of the space is very well done.
Food was a standout, tuna tostada and short rib both stellar.
Service was spot on-site unlike the previous incarnation of the space.
The place looks amazing, food was ok. Mimosas were full of orange juice. We had two pitchers of mimosas and didn't feel a thing
Food was delicious, atmosphere was great and the service was good. I highly recommend this place.
Celebrating my son's birthday brunch. Really enjoyed it. We will be back
Service was great, food was okay. Tandoori chicken pizza was basic just ranch chicken pizza. Other sandwiches were kind of dry, fries were great.
Good location. A bit noisy. Good food. Great booze selection. In a revitalized location in Philly. A good choice.
When searching for a restaurant/bar for a bachelor party dinner for 15, I came across Hops on OpenTable and remembered reading about the space before in an article. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Some of our party jumped at the opportunity to play shuffle board, corn hole and pool before sitting to enjoy dinner. The menu was imaginative and different, all the food came out correct, hot and the portions were great for the prices. We had a great time at Hops and would recommend to anyone inquiring about it.
Hops has a very open dining concept. My husband and I went out for date night which was very laid back but we liked it. We sat in the garden room since we made a reservation on open table which almost felt like private dining. The food was really good and our waitress was really nice. She checked on us numerous times which was great but did not offer us a dessert menu since her shift was ending. We will definitely return especially since it is kid friendly.
Cool space, friendly waitstaff with lots of knowledge about beer, but it's a very loud space and food takes a long time to be served. I liked my vegetarian cheese steak sandwich, but was surprised that it cost $18- seems kind of steep for a sandwich! Kids did not like the wings, or the chicken po boy sandwich, but we all liked the kale salad. Not sure if we'll go back given the noise level and family not liking the food.
Love the vibe! Love the open doors, pool table, great for families or just friends! great neighborhood too!
It's only been open for about 2 weeks, so I think they're still working out some of the kinks. I don't know if they just didn't expect to be as busy as they were - it took about 20-25 minutes to get a Bloody Mary. My burger came out wrong, but it may have just been a mixup. Overall good food and good atmosphere, but hopefully they just have some kinks to work out.
Positives first- the food was great and it was a really cool space, everything else was a mess.
When we arrived we ordered a drink special, $15 for a marg pitcher. After about a 15 minute wait the pitcher came, and it was the sweetest, most undrinkable marg I’ve ever had (could barely taste the tequila). Oh well, no big deal, we thought, however it then took us at least 10 minutes to get the waitress to our table so we could ask to send it back and order something else (10 minutes of waving as she walked by and making eye contact). We then ordered beer and wine and put in our food order. 15 minutes later, the beers come out and we are told they actually don’t have any of the wines on the menu, just a house red and a house white, I order a glass of house white. Then (some of) the food comes out. The last plate of food came 20 minutes (not an exaggeration, maybe an understatement) after the first, and my glass of wine came after the food (so about 20 minutes after ordering, so an hour after my original drink order).
At this point we enjoy the food, which really was fantastic, and have a nice time because it’s a super cool/fun restaurant.
We ask for the bill and the server takes another 10/15 minutes to show up with that, and she charged me for a full ($55) bottle of wine instead of the glass. It took some time to get that fixed as well. The server did apologize for the drink confusion, but never for the wait for half the food (by the time I got my meal, half of the table had finished eating).
It is a new restaurant and I’d consider going back in a few months (once they have time to get it together) for drinks in the cool bar area with garage style doors on a nice summer day, when I can just go to the bar for a drink and not depend on a server. As good as the food was (and it was seriously great) I’d never eat there again because the service was absolutely horrendous.
Everything was pretty good, they had a great beer selection and the food was good. The only thing is that it's super loud in there, so much so that our waitress couldn't hear what we were trying to order and we had a few miscommunications.
This place has so much potential. There’s just a few service issues they need to iron out. We were there on a rainy Friday and they weren’t too busy, somehow we never received our appetizer, I ordered tots with my burger and got fries instead, the waitress seemed frazzled, who knows how this place will pan out but it’s definitely needed in the area.
Service was longer than expected. Never refilled our water. Neglected to tell us which items they were out of. Took a good 20 minutes to get drinks.
Hops is a much needed addition to Brewerytown! The interior is really cool - we especially loved the gaming tables. We had the wings, mac & cheese, and mussels and all were incredible. There was a live jazz group playing that night which was so fun. Can't wait to make this my regular spot!
Really high potential for this place- food is good, drinks are great. Awesome spot to hangout with friends and have a good night out. Only negatives are the sound and the service. I think that the place has been so packed and crowded that Hops may not have been prepared for that. Maybe installing sound absorbing boards and hiring a few more weekend helpers would benefit greatly.
I want to like this place a lot, but my first experience there left much to be desired. I had a group of about 8 people. Being as it was a Saturday, I decided to reserve a table. So my friends and I are seated and the nice waitress took our drink orders. The food is where the problems began. Our orders had to be taken twice because the kitchen lost our orders somehow. So some of our party got their food and others did not. So we ended up waiting about 45 minutes for nothing. When my food finally came the orders did not include a sauce or something for both myself and my girlfriend. The food was tasty and I do recommend the cheesesteak, but it is not worth waiting 45 minutes for.
So I ordered a simple drink, orange juice. It took the waitress forever to fill it. It's not like the didn't know we were coming.
To be fair, I think Hops has a lot of potential. I would even give it another shot. I think if they had more waitstaff, they would be ok with managing the volume that the place gets. The kitchen needs to keep up with all the orders and not lose them. It's a cool vibe and a great space, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I will revisit some time in the near future and provide an update.
For the opening day we had speedy and efficient service. The servers didn’t overwhelm you but were knowledgeable about the products. We will definitely be making this a frequent stop.
