When searching for a restaurant/bar for a bachelor party dinner for 15, I came across Hops on OpenTable and remembered reading about the space before in an article. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Some of our party jumped at the opportunity to play shuffle board, corn hole and pool before sitting to enjoy dinner. The menu was imaginative and different, all the food came out correct, hot and the portions were great for the prices. We had a great time at Hops and would recommend to anyone inquiring about it.
Great food and good service. It can get busy at times, which overwhelms the staff. But good overall experience, will be going back.
Hops has a very open dining concept. My husband and I went out for date night which was very laid back but we liked it. We sat in the garden room since we made a reservation on open table which almost felt like private dining. The food was really good and our waitress was really nice. She checked on us numerous times which was great but did not offer us a dessert menu since her shift was ending. We will definitely return especially since it is kid friendly.
Cool space, friendly waitstaff with lots of knowledge about beer, but it's a very loud space and food takes a long time to be served. I liked my vegetarian cheese steak sandwich, but was surprised that it cost $18- seems kind of steep for a sandwich! Kids did not like the wings, or the chicken po boy sandwich, but we all liked the kale salad. Not sure if we'll go back given the noise level and family not liking the food.
Love the vibe! Love the open doors, pool table, great for families or just friends! great neighborhood too!
It's only been open for about 2 weeks, so I think they're still working out some of the kinks. I don't know if they just didn't expect to be as busy as they were - it took about 20-25 minutes to get a Bloody Mary. My burger came out wrong, but it may have just been a mixup. Overall good food and good atmosphere, but hopefully they just have some kinks to work out.
Positives first- the food was great and it was a really cool space, everything else was a mess.
When we arrived we ordered a drink special, $15 for a marg pitcher. After about a 15 minute wait the pitcher came, and it was the sweetest, most undrinkable marg I’ve ever had (could barely taste the tequila). Oh well, no big deal, we thought, however it then took us at least 10 minutes to get the waitress to our table so we could ask to send it back and order something else (10 minutes of waving as she walked by and making eye contact). We then ordered beer and wine and put in our food order. 15 minutes later, the beers come out and we are told they actually don’t have any of the wines on the menu, just a house red and a house white, I order a glass of house white. Then (some of) the food comes out. The last plate of food came 20 minutes (not an exaggeration, maybe an understatement) after the first, and my glass of wine came after the food (so about 20 minutes after ordering, so an hour after my original drink order).
At this point we enjoy the food, which really was fantastic, and have a nice time because it’s a super cool/fun restaurant.
We ask for the bill and the server takes another 10/15 minutes to show up with that, and she charged me for a full ($55) bottle of wine instead of the glass. It took some time to get that fixed as well. The server did apologize for the drink confusion, but never for the wait for half the food (by the time I got my meal, half of the table had finished eating).
It is a new restaurant and I’d consider going back in a few months (once they have time to get it together) for drinks in the cool bar area with garage style doors on a nice summer day, when I can just go to the bar for a drink and not depend on a server. As good as the food was (and it was seriously great) I’d never eat there again because the service was absolutely horrendous.
Everything was pretty good, they had a great beer selection and the food was good. The only thing is that it's super loud in there, so much so that our waitress couldn't hear what we were trying to order and we had a few miscommunications.
This place has so much potential. There’s just a few service issues they need to iron out. We were there on a rainy Friday and they weren’t too busy, somehow we never received our appetizer, I ordered tots with my burger and got fries instead, the waitress seemed frazzled, who knows how this place will pan out but it’s definitely needed in the area.
Service was longer than expected. Never refilled our water. Neglected to tell us which items they were out of. Took a good 20 minutes to get drinks.
Hops is a much needed addition to Brewerytown! The interior is really cool - we especially loved the gaming tables. We had the wings, mac & cheese, and mussels and all were incredible. There was a live jazz group playing that night which was so fun. Can't wait to make this my regular spot!
Really high potential for this place- food is good, drinks are great. Awesome spot to hangout with friends and have a good night out. Only negatives are the sound and the service. I think that the place has been so packed and crowded that Hops may not have been prepared for that. Maybe installing sound absorbing boards and hiring a few more weekend helpers would benefit greatly.
For the opening day we had speedy and efficient service. The servers didn’t overwhelm you but were knowledgeable about the products. We will definitely be making this a frequent stop.
