   Friendly and welcoming. Accommodating for kids and gluten free. Gave us extra roast spuds when asked! Veggie option was a bit weird and just sliced veg compressed. Lovely occasion!

   Sunday lunch was good standard. Like the fact that dogs are welcome inside. Staff friendly. We sat outside in the garden - great space but could do with a spruce up - furniture looked scruffy and garden was tired looking.

   We arrived at 6, the time our table was booked , no one was interested in giving us any sort of service . We found our table and after waiting at the bar for 15mins we asked if we were going to be served drinks and was told we were stood in the wrong place, when our food arrived we had to eat it with 3 dogs belonging to the pub staring at us waiting for food. The barman was more interested in when we were leaving. We did not get any service what so ever apart from our food being bought out and we had to go to the bar to order anything . Standard I suppose for a low rate pub but our experience did not reflect our £200 bill. Not a good choice for what was my birthday meal

   As they were not notified of the booking thru Open Table, and it being Friday night, needless to say, there was no tables available when we arrived. When finally given a table we ordered but after 40 minutes no food had arrived so we checked with the bar. No order had been placed with the kitchen. Upon reflection we thought that the bar staff we more interested in chatting and drinking amongst themselves than serving or providing service. Will not be going back.

   This pub is cosy and the beer is good. The staff were helpful. The food was good but only one choice of dessert plus ice cream was disappointing. Some of our party were not keen on the three dogs in the bar especially the one that came and sat under our table.

   The Hope and Anchor were great. Especially as they fitted us in on a busy Sunday when the booking from this website hadn't been passed on to them. I wouldn't use Open Table ever again.

   Excellent Sunday lunch in the large peaceful garden. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good value and an wide selection of beers and ciders.
