I made a reservation, had it confirmed, and when I got there the restaurant was closed. They agreed to accommodate me, but not with the full menu. Very disappointed.
I made a reservation for 11:30 because I saw the 1000 bonus points. I dined and left. Upon checking my account and email, my reservation was canceled. I had to take time out of my day to go back and find out the reason. The manager there said he canceled it because he thought I didn’t dined there. I pulled out my receipt and he apologized. Awful customer service
Corporate breakfast bar. Slow service with mediocre food.
Disappointing experience. Consider this more like Hilton’s cafeteria than a restaurant. Minimal number of servers made for long wait times once at the table. Food was average at best.
Will never go again. Horrible food over cooked or not even warm at all.
The atmosphere feels like you are sitting in a hotel lobby('cause you are) - The food is too expensive for the loud, bustling atmosphere. Our waitress was great though!
Great service, they were very attentive. It was a little loud mostly cause we were seated by the Hilton lobby and there was a conference going on so a lot of people. Good food just a bit spendy.
The lobby area of the hotel was super loud, so we were worried it was going to be unbearable in Hop City. However, the coffered ceilings were a really good choice in the dining area, and you could have a normal speaking voice conversation with your table. You could hear low mumbles from the surrounding tables, but we were pleasantly surprised with the acoustics in the room. The food was tasty. We came for Portland Dining month. Portions were very generous, and we brought home leftovers. It's definitely more than just a hotel restaurant, and we will be back.
Great atmosphere and staff wss amazing. Has great options for dining month
We enjoyed the March Portland Dining Out month special! The food was delicious and the service was top notch. They were great accommodating gluten free needs. Definitely will go back and sample more of the menu items.
Party of 16, food was good, good vibe. Our drinks were filled frequently. Open kitchen style, very unique atmosphere.
Thanks for being flexible about our changing plans.
Pretty good overall and easily accommodated a large party.
Service drops off after 2:00pm.

The restaurant is located in the lobby of the Hilton and had the atmosphere of a hotel restaurant. The food and service were moderately good, but there wasn’t any character to the place and no locals present. We were there as it was really close to the Schnitzer, but overall the experience was underwhelming and there are better options nearby.
We meet for a discussion group every month and really appreciate that we always have a space to talk and get together. The service is great, especially for a group.
The good is fine but overpriced for a bar menu. Service was very slow!
We went for lunch and were the second party to be seated. The restaurant was not busy on a Monday morning. The waitstaff were busy complaining to one another, near our table and it did take awhile for us to be served. It’s good that we received 1000 points for this experience because this restaurant has horrible food and service. My chicken sandwich tasted as if it were last weeks chicken that was reheated and the fries tasted as if they had been fried with fish in old oil. I was unable to eat my meal but the server (who changed during our lunch as if she were in break) didn’t check back until after the bill was paid. When they asked how the food was and I replied poor, they just said have a nice day. This place would go out of business if it weren’t in the Hilton. I will be wary of other 1000 point places since it seems the food is terrible and that’s why the point bonus was elevated. I also feel bad that some travelers might go here and think this place is representative of Portland dining because nothing could be farther from the truth. Won’t go back, wouldn’t recommend, would give zero stars if possible.
Christina the server saved the day. She was delightful. The food on the otherhand...... The Brussel sprouts and chicken sliders were burnt. The dates were good but didn’t need the addition of the honey. The only good dish was the kids hamburger. Last visit I had the flatbread which was good but didn’t contain prosciutto that was supposed to be in the dish.
Had a surprisingly good experience. The food was very good with nice twists on pub food. The charred Brussels Sprouts with Gouda cheese was excellent. Loved the Hop Tavern burger but subbed smoked cheddar for the American cheese that normally comes with it. Had a nice tangy sauce with a little heat on it as well. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. The only value issue was on the wine. They had OK choices but prices were a bit high. Of course beer was probably a better choice for a place like this. The service really stood out. Our server Peggy was terrific. Always there when you needed her. Efficient, knowledgeable, friendly.
We were a group of 5 needing a quick dinner before a Portland Arts and Lecture event at the Arlene Schnitzer Auditorium. Our waitress was so helpful in making sure we had our drinks and food quickly, so that we were on time for the lecture. And the auditorium is a short 3-minute walk from Hop City Tavern. This was our first time at this restaurant, but it won’t be our last!
We were seated right next to the wait staff prepping area even though the restaurant was mostly empty. The lightning was so bright that it felt like we were in a cafeteria. Needs some help with ambiance.
Located in the Hilton Hotel Lobby is Hop City restaurant and I must say for a hotel restaurant it is very good. I have had dinner here twice and on both occasions the food and service was excellent.
Happened upon this place. Had the specialty burger and it was so good. Very flavorful. Our waitress (Peggy) was super sweet and accommodating.
Uninspired beer selection. Slower, sometimes inattentive service. Waffle fries were underdone and cold. Waitress did comp them but very disappointed.
Took a group of co-workers for Portland's Burger Week. I made a reservation for a long table and was sat immediately. Good thing too because the place was packed with fellow burger lovers. The food was really good, including the vegan's side order and the special side dishes offered for burger week. The staff was quick, courteous, and accurate. High marks, especially since this restaurant is not usually busy at lunchtime they were prepared and brought their A-game.
I don't make it a habit of dining in hotel restaurants of the cities I live in, but Hop City Tavern was part of the Portland Burger Week promotion. So, I made an exception. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and service.
The place was empty at 5:30 but began to fill up around 6:30. Our server, Pegge was excellent, our food was well prepared and generous, and the price was right!
Great for lunch. Get the fried chicken sliders and big charcuterie board
Prefer not to comment. For sure, we will not be back again. No wonder the points, no one else was there.
Lovely, well provisioned BREKKIE Buffet & hand-crafted veggie omelette daringly served by Micah w a smile & a soothing personality!
Nice staff: Micah @ BREAKFAST, Anthony @ Dinner
Both kind & professioal :)
Absolutely love this place it was very convenient and the food was delicious. The bar was adjacent to the restaurant which will create a louder environment during happy hour, but otherwise was a great place to eat.
Anthony provided gr8 service, the flatbread was decent (overpriced!), the selection of brews on tap is fantastic! It’s a quick in-and-out eatery
The industrial design & the large, loud convention crowd, made the noise almost unbearable.
Solo diners ought 2 B OK, carrying on a conversation or even placing an order is a audio challenge!
Yummy Brussels sprouts! Wait staff was super nice and very attentive.
All food was great but especially enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and bacon-wrapped date small plates. Very friendly and helpful waitperson. Highly recommended.
Great food - very creative and tasty. Wait staff was great but seemed a bit overwhelmed. Understaffed? Long delay between appetizer and entree. No time to eat our dessert (going to a show), but waiter was more than happy to box it up for us. Much appreciated.
We recently ate at HopCity and selected options from the dining month menu. My husband ordered the Scotch eggs and I ordered the shredded salad for the first course. They were quite good. My husband ordered the lamb burger. Although he ordered it medium rare, it came medium to well done. I ordered the crab pot pie. The filling was good, although a bit salty, but the crust was tough and difficult to eat. The service was slow. The food sat on the counter for a time before it was served. The desserts were sweet but not flavorful. We will not return.
We chose this spot for my wife's birthday as part of Portland Dining Month. However, at first we were not a huge fan of the ambience/layout due to the "open concept" style; no walls, you could see into a small grocery market, a strange open area seating room, etc.
We felt quite silly when we realised this restaurant was part of the Hilton Hotel! It all made sense after that. So while the ambience was not quite what we were expecting, it definitely was not a huge negative once we figured out *why*.
Food was delicious, service was fantastic, and it was a pleasant experience all round.
