HopCat returned to Royal Oak in 2023 at the corner of Main and 4th Street. The expansive space features multiple sidewalk patios and a massive wrap-around bar. We’re just down the street from the Royal Oak Theatre, Oakland Community College, Stagecrafters Baldwin Theatre, and the Royal Oak train station.

HopCat was founded on the principles of bringing local craft beer a bit closer to the communities we love. We’re known for our award-wining Cosmik fries, which are beer battered, sprinkled with our signature cracked black pepper seasoning, and served with a side of warm cheese sauce. From burgers to tacos, our menu offers a range of delicious options.

We went on Thursday for the Burger (3-6 pm) night. $9 for burger / fries and drink. The burger was a single patty but very thin. But the price was right. It would be a poor burger value at full price. Cosmik fries weee awesome as usual. The brownie dessert was great. Service was excellent by the bar tender aunt Royal oak. Bar Louie nearby on Main St has a huge burger on special on Tuesday nights.

The food was not amazing at brunch. It was actually not even good. My friend ordered the $15 avocado toast and what came out was two large slices of bread with approximately 1/4th of a standard avocado on it. We asked for more avocado and they sent us a ramekin with another two slices of avocado. Everyone else’s food was just alright. The server was very nice and attentive, but it was just not worth the money.

Had an absolutely great time w/ my girls. Cinco Nite, not overly crowded. Those Strawberry Margaritas were EVERYTHING. !!!! Our waitress was very pleasant & we will be back

Our waiter was FANTASTIC!! He went above and beyond to accommodate us. Recommended an IPA and was AWESOME- I’m usually picky and he nailed it. Food was delicious and restaurant decor was great. Definitely will recommend and will return!!

We came for a Valentine's brunch and had a great time. The strawberry basil margarita pitchers are amazing and the new brunch menu slaps! Our waiter Sam was attentive and very kind. We will be back!
