   My husband and I spent 2 nights in Grand Rapids this weekend because I won a trip through Founders Brewing. This was our first time in the state of Michigan. Hopcat was the first restaurant we tried because it was a short walk from our hotel, the menu sounded amazing, and it had great reviews. The restaurant is in a historical building with a beautiful antique wooden bar. A bicycle is suspended from the ceiling, and the walls and ceiling are dotted with funky artwork and lighting. Just walking inside puts you in a better mood. They have an impressive selection of beer, as well as wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverage options. I ordered the Hangover Burger and a pint of the New Holland Tangerine Space Machine. My husband had their Dirty Martini Burger and a pint of the Old Nation Creamsicle M-43. The beer was top notch, and we both said those were the best burgers we’d ever eaten. Both of ours were on pretzel buns, and I wholeheartedly believe every hamburger bun should be a pretzel bun. The seasoning on the cosmik fries was the bomb. Not only was the food and drink excellent, the manager and staff were very friendly and helpful; recommending things to do and see in the area. We liked HopCat so much that we returned for dinner on the last evening of our trip, which was equally as great as the first visit. The manager remembered us, and we had another awesome server. We highly recommend this place, and will return if ever again in the area!

   All around had a great dinner and drinks. Great staff, and the prices are so affordable! My son said his brunch burger was the best burger he’s ever had.

   I'm sorry to hear that the experience wasn't optimal. I would be interested to hear if this was due to the music or the atmosphere of other guests?    Everything was wonderful. Two hour maximum at the table so plan on a second watering hole to end the night.

   Customer service is top tier without being stuffy. Food is great and comes out quickly. Lots of good beers on tap, as well as good cocktails.

   UPDATE: The manager reached out to me right away and wanted to make it right. Very impressed about his concern for a good experience!! Will be trying the meal again :) First time dining here. Enjoyed the atmosphere and we had good waitress. Food out was a little slow, but the biggest downside was my dinner. I got the new Mushroom Tofu bowl. It was mostly brown rice and really dry. I had 6 mushrooms on it and about only a couple of inchlong shreds of slaw! There were also few onions and then the tofu pieces. VERY underwhelming.
