Hook & Vine
Kevin and Monica Phillips were dreaming of a place that they could share their love of food and drinks with the community. With many years in the industry, they started planning their dream restaurant. They found the perfect place near the Chesapeake Bay in North Beach, Maryland.
The family-oriented atmosphere and warm welcome will be a fun and delicious destination for everyone. Who doesn't love a home away from home?
Southern coastal cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood, bacon, bourbon, and wine. Menu inspired by the community - choose a new favorite dish each visit. Local beer on tap; delicious cocktails; and not your average wine list. Have a favorite wine or drink - let us know.
Love Hook and Vine. The owners make you feel special and the food is great.
Impromptu girls night out. Two orders of Chicken Piccata over mashed potatoes and an order of Fish and Chips, some wine, and a delightful season virgin mule were on order. Everything was delicious. The service was wonderful.
Hook and vine is always a wonderful experience!
A great evening and dinner with friends and talk. Food was delicious and the service was super friendly and efficient. Had a great night and will be sure to return.
We made a reservation for 5pm were sat as soon as we arrived. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The menu has something for everyone and the food was great. The beer menu is plentiful. Great for date night .
It was a great lunch and the food was delicious.. Our waitress was very personable. .. will definitely be going back. . Thanks!
Hook & Vine made my in-law’s anniversary very memorable. Great food and super exceptional staff/service!
It was a pleasure to meet the owner and chef! We were there to celebrate my birthday and will highly recommend to all family and friends and we are looking forward to our next visit!
Still working the brunch kinks out. Seemed a little dis organized this time but that is to be expected for the first day. The food was still good but not as good as lunch/dinner menu. Drinks were awesome as always! The new staff seemed slower and lost with the computer ordering. This will not stop us from going back! Still the best restaurant in North Beach!!
Strongly recommend hook and vine! I’ve dined there before but on this visit we went for their first day of brunch. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed! The brunch menu was very well put together and everything sounded delicious! My table ordered- biscuits and gravy, breakfast tacos, chicken and waffle sliders and the waffle. Everyone really enjoyed their meals! Everything came out fast, hot and was super filling! Great sized portions and so full of flavor. We also ordered the mermaid mimosas! Simple twist on regular mimosas, again- so great! Monica ( one of the owners) came by to check on us and as always she was great. This place is perfect for any occasion! Just make sure to make a reservation, being a smaller place- it fills up fast and you don’t want to miss out!
Delicious, as always! Stopped in for lunch with a girl friend. A great environment and the staff treats you like family! We both enjoyed our food and time spent there!
Fresh take on burgers and seafood in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
My husband and I had a quiet mid-week lunch date here. The server (who was actually the bartender), was very nice and she was willing to give us some background on the start of the restaurant as well. The food was good - and the crab dip was some of the best we've had!
Thank you again for another great meal and experience. I love, love, love this place!
I'm a bit reluctant to let people in on the secret of this great restaurant! Everything we've ordered (this visit and every other) has been so delicious. Last night, it was sirloin for me, scallops for the hubby, and carrot cake to share. Delish.
The place is cozy and casual, but with a touch of upscale. It's nice for date night or celebration. It's small, and popular - we've had better luck when we've made a reservation (especially on the weekends) so we don't have a wait. The staff is friendly, and attentive enough without being underfoot. Prices are reasonable.
Once again great food and drinks. All entrees arrived timely and cooked well
Make sure you get an experienced waiter/waitress. Unfortunately, Jordan was slow on checking on us about getting our main course entrees (so slow the head chef came to our table to ask if we were only getting appetizers). Then AFTER the bill was paid AND she received her 20% tip...she comes back to the table and says..."I forgot to add your desserts onto the bill! You still OWE $22.00". In my opinion, experienced waiter/waitress would have gone to the manager and stated the bill was already based on a mistake by HER. Other than that incident...the entire meal was FANTASTIC!!! We can't wait until the next time!!!
I really like this place, the crabcakes are Great. The only thing I would change is the noise level, when there is a loud crowd, it’s quite loud . So We don’t go there if it’s just my husband and I wanting a quieter night.
We very much enjoy Hook however, if you are close to the bar area, it is extremely noisy. It is difficult to have a conversation and hear everyone.
Great girls afternoon dinner. Our server, Kat, was great! Pork Chops were great. Seafood Platter was great. That catfish though! YUMMY. Drinks were great! Desserts were great. We sat on the porch. Beautiful meal, on a beautiful day!
My first time at Hook however never took away from the stellar service we received -- made the evening that much more enjoyable.
Hook and Vine is always a solid place to dine. The drink and food menus are creative. The service is good and the space is lovely.
Extensive cocktail list
Hook & Vine was a nice little place, very cozy and nice ambience. Enjoyed a little bit of Baltimore’s Hon vibe with our waitress who was fun to talk with. Nice variety on the menu which was available all day, versus separate lunch/dinner selection. The only thing that prevented me from giving the food 5 stars was the temperature. We had a noon reservation and had the place to ourselves so was a bit surprised that the Shrimp & Grits entree was just barely warm. The Jambalaya had enough “heat” to make up for the temperature and my son and husband thoroughly enjoyed it. And the lobster ravioli had nice big chunks of lobster in it. The deviled egg appetizer was served way to cold which took a little from the flavor.
Love this little gem in the heart of North Beach! Chef Charles presents a delicious and creative menu for all tastes, and Monica and team deliver terrific service and great recommendations. Love the approachable wine and cocktail list too!
Very nice restaurant. Tables are a little close so it's hard to have a private conversation. Food was excellent.
Food was very good. Service was very good as well. Met the owner who have us special attention for mu wife's birthday. When my wife advised her meal was too spicy for he to eat- she took it off the bill. Also gave us a free piece of cheese cake. Ambiance was very nice and relaxed. We will definitely return.
Great spot! We enjoyed our lunch very much and will surely return!
Porch was a nice setting. Cocktails were quite good...purple haze and jack berry lemonade. Main dishes were very good (carb cakes sandwich and halibut) but all the Sides were unremarkable.
Wonderful, courteous service. The menu is varied without being overwhelming & the food is excellent!
Great food and wonderful atmosphere. A perfect Friday night date! Delicious food. Loved the summer cocktails! Highly recommend.
I found the food to be quite good. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly. The esparagus was also grilled to perfection, not overcooked as is a common issue in restaurants. The creole sauce was complex, flavorful, and not overly salty. My guest had the crab cake which was fantastic. A solid amount of crab with just enough binder to home it together...a proper Maryland crabcake. The key lime pie was also fantastic. It's clear they have someone skilled running the kitchen. The wait staff however was another story. Although friendly, they were quite lacking in floor management. They use handheld devices to take your order, which although one might think is a good thing to keep things orderly and timely, it was actually a detractor to me. Instead of connecting with guests, the servers have their faces buried in the handheld the entire time and are essentially just recording orders. Servers are the gateway to the kitchen. They should be knowledgeable about the food so that they can help the guest choose something they will more likely enjoy, which will boost the positive experience of customers for the restaurant. It doesn't require fine dining waitsaff, but it felt disjointed, like eating at a fine restaurant with diner quality waitsaff. Overall though a great restaurant with delicious food. I would definitely recommend.
Having my Birthday Celebration there after the jets ski party, this was THE best recommended place to dine. The food was 10 Stars, yes 10 Stars... Our waiter was so patience and served each of us and followed up to ensure everything was fine.. I highly recommend this nice cozy restaurant to anyone. Great appetizers, food and drinks
the jewel of NB continues to rise as a high tide
best grouper meal I have had in 50 years ago on the west coast of FL
Knowing Hook & Vine is a small, popular location we made reservations. We arrived on time and were seated in minutes. The place was hopping so, was a bit loud but not obnoxiously so. The weather was hot and humid and that did seem to affect the temperature inside, too. Our server, Monica, was AMAZING. Super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and very accommodating. The handmade drinks were unique and enjoyable. The chicken piccata was on point. We will definitely be back.
It seemed as if the restaurant had just opened. Tons of confusion, cold food, poor service
Great staff and food.
Great place. Good food and cocktails. Would've given 5 stars but felt a little rushed to order dessert even when I was still eating my entree! Would definitely return!
Great service and food, very nice ambiance. It can get a little loud at times, but I really enjoyed being there. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful!
I was there for lunch with 2 friends and we dined on the porch. That is why I said the noise was moderate. Motorcycles kept going by....not Hook and Vine's fault! The food was very good and it has a very nautical appeal inside. Very nice!
