Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood Restaurant & Bar
But eating seafood is only part of the fun. Everything tastes better around the table with friends, swapping stories over music, getting down and dirty and eating with your hands – all with a cold drink at the ready, ‘cause that spice ain’t no joke. We set out to share the saucy spirit of the boil with folks everywhere – testing our very own recipes, inspired by fiery Cajun home cooking. The Hook & Reel seafood boil dishes up the “reel” deal – the full backyard boil experience and flavor, with a twist.
It’s a party, so we always laugh loud, and eat big.
This is listed as a Cajun Seafood Restaurant & Bar. First off, there is absolutely nothing Cajun about it. Don't go there expecting this to be a Cajun restaurant - it's not - what it is, is another of the MULTITUDE of crab and shrimp places (where the food comes out in a bag, on a tray) that have been popping up like weeds all over SC. that have been replacing the Chinese buffets, as those now seem to be going out of style. With that said, what we ordered was REALLY GOOD!!!
They had a BOGO on 1 lb. of shrimp, which we opted for. We added 1/2 lb. of crawfish, potatoes and corn. Everything is a la carte, and with each add-on, it can get pricey. We got it with the Special Blend seasoning. In general, I could not have been more pleased – it was delicious. The crawfish, however, were a little scrawny.
It is quite pricey - blame it on COVID - blame EVERYTHING on COVID - seafood has just gotten outrageous. Some of our favorite places have just removed certain things from their menus because they are cost prohibitive. For a place that primarily serves the food that has skyrocketed in price, it's tough.
Again, the food was very good, as was the service – but it’s more like a Chinese restaurant trying to do Cajun, than a Cajun restaurant, but for what they are doing, they do it VERY well. We’ll definitely go back.
This is an absolutely wonderful place to have a meal, especially if you like any kind of seafood. Not expensive. Just go and enjoy!
Crab legs and mussels were good. Lobster tail and sausage not so good.
Loud music, confusing menu, very small bowl of soup. Ambience was kind of weird.
First time. Wonderful food.
We were visiting the area and stopped in for dinner. From the minute we walked through the door until the minute we left was great. One of our party has a gluten allergy and they were so helpful to make sure she got the right food. Service was great, food was great. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you are in the area! Definitely going back when visiting there again.
Family night dinner get together…and the food was very good, well-seasoned, and fresh.
I had one of the seafood boils and it was great! Very nice blend of spices without too much heat. Service was excellent too!
The only less positive comment I will make is the high volume level on the "background" music.
Food, service and atmosphere were great. Would eat here again!
A return trip for us and same great food and service. We'll definitely be back soon!
Food and Service was great!!! Why the loud music? No one wants to listen to music that loud while having a nice dinner out
Good place for shellfish. Nice place for families.
Great service - good value for food - only music was too loud
Lunch was awesome.. It was fun seeing the steam bag come out and being presented to us. We will go back. Food and sauces were very very tasty.
First time for us and we really enjoyed it. Food was great; fun environment. Will be back next time we are in town!
Great food, great service. Music was a little loud.
I chose this restaurant based on the reviews and I can certainly concur. Everything and everybody from the time you walk in the door until you leave makes this place special. I especially love the way your meal is customized so that you get exactly what you want. The food was delicious, the service was superb and the price was competitive. I will certainly return.
Food and service was awesome. Unedited DMX and gangster rap probably not a good call for the majority of families.
The food and service was great!
It took a while for our server to come to the table. It seemed like no body had assigned tables. It took 45 minutes to get appetizer. Mozzarella sticks(they were not hot). Took another 30 minutes to get meals. They did not all come out together. We had to request drink refills and silverware. Fried fish plates were cooked well but no seasoning. Overall not worth the money.
Server was inattentive when there was no one I the restaurant . Food was so so
Enjoyed the food and service was great.
Seafood boils were fresh and delicious
Maria was our server for the evening and was excellent! She was so patient with our table and made great suggestions. She was polite and entertaining. The food was outstanding and I would highly recommend the hush puppies as an appetizer or the shrimp and crab legs with any meal.
We had a great experience, great customer service and the food was amazing!!
Food was decent but the restaurant was very under staffed. Our server was working her absolute best and we appreciated that.
That being said that overly loud Soca music made it impossible to carry on a conversation. Management needs to turn the volume way down. Not sure I would go back just due to that alone. We might return someday.
We enjoyed sharing one of the boils. The food was tasty. The music playing and the decor were enjoyable.
It was me and the wife anniversary and she love seafood. Found the place online and tried it out. It’s definitely a great place to eat. The food was awesome. The waitress was amazing and real. We will definitely be back
Hostess was very disorganized and overwhelmed upon our arrival. We were a Party of 6 with reservations for 7pm. Didn’t even check out reservation, just scribbled our name down on a notebook. Saw several parties after us check in with same response. After waiting 30 minutes, we were seated. Waitress was great, but they were out of several items (chicken fingers, sweet potato fries, etc) Took an additional hour to get our food- which was good but not amazing.
The boil was great and the house seasoning sauce was amazing!
Would not recommend.
Mother’s Day - great food, great wait staff…CLEAN!
We made reservations but had to wait an additional 30 mins past our reservation time. Even then I had to ask for our table.
This was our second visit; the food is good and the price is reasonable.
Great fresh seafood in a casual setting
I went in thinking this was a great local seafood place but seemed to be more of a chain restaurant hurting for business.
Cute decor, good food and service
Food was good. Our service was great.
I want there for my birthday dinner and the waitress was excellent but the management had very poor customer service. At the end of our dinner we proceeded to pay the bill and the manager used my card to pay for another families meals. I will never eat there again.
