Half our meal was great the other half was terrible! Drinks were good and the server was pleasant and did everything he could do to try and save the experience for us knowing that we were not happy with our dinner and expected a lot more from the Ritz Carlton.

The family is staying 4/22 - 4/26 at the Ritz Maui. Service was fantastic at Hook @ Knife..I would say....stick with the seafood..my son and I ordered 2 NY StripSteaks and both were Chewy....The executive chef should seek out a different meat provider. The appetizers and desserts are very good. If this is a experimental concept then the Ritz Maui should contract Gordon Ramsay for help.

The service was lovely and our server, Ara, was so helpful. He even went and got me the recipe for the amazing cocktail I was drinking. Drinks are great, food was fine/good but certainly not worth the exorbitant prices. I want to be amazed by my good when I’m paying top dollar.
Also there was oddly loud techno music playing and it felt very out of place for a ln elegant date night restaurant.

This is a high end restaurant at the Ritz Carlton. Good food in more of a causal environment. With the amount of money you are spending, I was anticipating better service. The steaks came back underdone for my liking and had to send it back. Second time still undercooked but I was so hungry at that point I just ate it. Waiter barley paid attention to my family and me. Ordered a simple ice tea that had more ice than tea and had difficulty getting a refill. It was a disappointing experience but maybe I set my expectations too high.

Overall it felt like the restaurant was trying too hard. Of the many upscale restaurants no the island this one should not be counted among them. The service was okay but they seemed short staffed and the hostess kept running back and forth trying to get everyone seated. The service was lackluster and it felt like we kept reminding our server that we were there. I think they should focus on the showcase and make it better or drop it completely. The night seemed to drag on unfortunately and for paying over 200 it definitely did not seem worth the price. The Ritz should re-evaluate their relationship with this restaurant and work to open the Banyan Tree a restaurant that is actually elegant.

Staff seemed overwhelmed. We waited quite a while (I didn’t time it exactly) for our bottle of wine, they we waited some more. We ordered the seafood tower and that took a long while. I m going to say about an hour. The food was fresh and tasty but three of us burned through it in about 15 minutes....not very much for over $100...we ordered more sashimi $30 for 3 pieces of salmon and 3 pieces of ahi. The pieces were about half of the pieces we are used to about 1”x 1”....we told the waiter we were going to order more and he came back 30 minutes later and asked if we wanted dessert...at that point we decided to split to the bar. The waiter was quite pleasant when we did interact. We are not returning.

Horrible. Fish was sooo previously frozen. Service was disrespectful. I’m sad that this is the only restaurant on site and I’ve got four more days here.

I saw the reviews and was a little worried, but the food was excellent! I had the fresh catch of the day and it was perfectly seasoned and the buffet sides tasted wonderful as well. I'm not a dessert lover, but my God what they had was excellent.

We had an awesome dining experience. From start to finish we were made to feel welcome. They handled all of our dietary requests and the service was excellent. We ordered Sushi appetizers and steak for our main course. Outstanding quality!

This experience was somewhat inconsistent with the other offerings at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. (Not in a great way.) Housed in the breakfast buffet area, but with some additional mood lighting, Hook + Knife is trying to emulate the pop-up restaurant concept that has been successful in other places. That’s where the similarities end.

The cocktail I ordered with dinner was devoid of all flavor. (It almost tasted like one or two of the ingredients were absent. For a pineapple centric drink, one would expect at least a slight taste of pineapple.) The culinary showcase, emphasized by the server as the go to option, wound up being a 1/4 scale buffet of cheese, soup, and pre-made salad. These options were not great. Much of it, save for the seafood chowder, could have been store bought. The seafood catch of the day was good but on the smaller side for the price. Credit where it is due however, the rack of lamb was amazing.

Weirdly, the culinary offerings elsewhere on the property (Alaloa Lounge, Burger Shack, Ulana) are all pretty top notch. I’m not sure why the Hook + Knife experience is lacking in this way.

Overpriced for extremely poor food. Should have paid attention to the posted reviews stating it was poor, definitely correct, way to many other dining options on Island to go here again.

We had the full Bronzino with shashito peppers and tomatoes which was fantastic. Good wine options. The service was very friendly and attentive. It’s Maui and the Ritz!

We had the Lobster Dynamite and Ahi Tuna. The ahi was covered in sesame seeds, but otherwise void of any seasonings. The lobster was dry. The service was good, but unfortunately the food was unmemorable, other than being expensive.

We were looking for a place close to where we were staying and we found this restaurant. Our server Robert was very polite. We mentioned it was our 25th anniversary celebration and they gave us a desert with a chocolate that stated happy anniversary.
There was a small mix up on my wife’s order going to another table but we got what we ordered and the quality of food was excellent. We had a great view from our window table overlooking the ocean...

Wife was happy so I’m happy....

Marginal at best. Service mistake on order. Worst mule cocktail I have ever had. Nice view. Many better choices in area. Buffett deal was expensive. Ordered ala carte instead. Fillet was good, lobster ok. Disappointing for Ritz. Burger shack by beach better choice at this resort.

We are here on New Years’ Eve and were very disappointed. The prix fixe menu really did not have good options for all members of my family, so most didn’t touch courses one and two, the main course was small, and by dessert, people were just over it. We didn’t find most of the dishes very tastey either. The cauliflower soup was like bland baby food. The hamachi crudo was plain and a bit fishy. And then the bill came. $730 for 4 people! Our most expensive meal ever on Maui, and also one of our lease favorite. We will not be back.

My companion and I were a little caught off guard by the Prix Fixe menu being the only option as this was not advertised. However, looking back on it, given that it was New Year's Eve, perhaps we should not have been. We almost walked away as we had been looking for a different set of food choices and we were not convinced that the quality would be high under these conditions, but decided to give it a try. We made the right decision. Much to our surprise and delight, what might have been a mediocre meal, was in fact an outstanding meal. Every course was well designed and executed, with the kitchen staff demonstrating an impressive range of creative techniques and flare from Asian to French. Service was quite good and appropriately attentive. Simply put, this was an impressive dining experience. Although the price tag was high (~$400 with tip, but with limited alcohol), both of us agreed the meal was well worth what we spent.

One word will explain our review. Terrible. Our reservation was for 8:45 PM we were one of the last tables to be seated and it took over an hour and a half to be served. They were a party of four. Our waiter Robert was excellent Trying desperately to make up for the failure of the kitchen to get our food o trying desperately to make up for the failure of the kitchen to get our food our food out. Hey pop up the kitchen and Endeavor failed miserably. We have been a repeat customer of the Ritz and this has to be our worst meal ever. We will not be back.

For a first class hotel, the Ritz-Carlton, this is a poorly run, disappointing restaurant. We waited 10 minutes after getting seated to flag down our waiter to get water and take our wine order. We then waited 30 minutes for our salads and another 20 minutes after we were finished our salads, to get our entrees.

The food was ok, nothing close to the $40 averaged entree costs.

When we complained to our waiter, he was quick to tell us the kitchen and the manager were aware of the delay in our meals, but no one, other than our waiter, made an effort to apologize.

There are plenty of better restaurants in the area.

The ambiance is beautiful in the evening, the service is exceptional and friendly even when they are extremely busy. The dining options are well rounded for different tastes. Looking forward to our next time there..
