El restaurante Homestead trae productos de la granja a su mesa y propone una gastronomía rústica pero elegante de la mano del chef Henssler. También ofrece vinos, licores, cervezas y cocteles únicos, así como pan y repostería artesanales del chef repostero Chris Teixeira, semifinalista del premio James Beard al Mejor Chef Emergente. El restaurante es acogedor y confortable, propone una serie de sabrosos menús de temporada que van cambiando e incorpora ingredientes de su propia granja y de proveedores locales a su cocina reconocida a nivel nacional. Los menús de platillos cambian al menos una vez por semana y los talentosos chefs rompen constantemente los esquemas con creaciones culinarias únicas y de gran calidad. En verano se puede comer al aire libre en la terraza del Homestead, que tiene capacidad para 80 comensales, vistas a los más de 325 m² de huerto ecológico y los jardines colgantes verticales, además de un toldo retráctil que protege de los elementos.

Our table of 4 tried several items and every one was excellent. Our server was helpful and not intrusive. WestFest was going on the night we were there, so the music volume from that was not great. Nothing the restaurant could do about that! Next time we’ll not go during West Fest. And I’m pretty sure there will be a next time.

Enjoyed our food, however the service was extremely slow and we had several items not come out until we asked about the missing dish, and after we asked about the missing dish it was a 20 minute wait until it came out. Some dishes were really good and some I didn’t think were up to par with the price. I’ve been in before and really enjoyed, so our dining experience was quite disappointing this time.

The ambiance and environment were very cool - definitely recommend. The food was pretty average - nothing to rave about, and not likely to make me want to return.

We chose to dine at this restaurant for the first time based upon the menu posted online, which listed a mostly Portuguese menu. Further, the restaurant is identified online as "Portuguese." We were disappointed to view the menu when we arrived, which does not have many of the items viewed online. The menu now states this is a "Latin" restaurant, and the server described the menu as Mexican with some Portuguese fusion. We felt misled by the information online and encourage the restaurant to update their online information. While the food and the service was good overall, we have no plans to return to this restaurant because we can go somewhere closer to home for tacos.

Our server never asked us if we wanted to order mains. In 45 mins it took to get our apps we were not asked once what we wanted for mains. Constantly asked about drinks.. were they just trying to extend our table bill? We ended up leaving before ordering mains as we didn't want to wait to be asked or for the food to arrive timely. Hope next time is a better experience!

Food is wonderful (we shared the whole duck dinner) and the rooftop garden is such a beautiful place to eat on a perfect Chicago evening.
