About Home 231
Home 231 creates a comfortable yet stylish restaurant that offers contemporary home-style cuisine, service and atmosphere. Our chef has created a menu that utilizes local products, ranging from meats and poultry, to farm fresh eggs and seasonal produce. Our food is described as simple and approachable American food with a modern touch. Join us indoors or outdoors on our courtyard and allow our servers to create a dining experience you will remember.
Our outside patio is booked on a first come first serve basis. Making a reservation for the courtyard does not guarantee the courtyard seating, but we do our very best to accommodate all requests. Private parties in the courtyard will move all requests for outside to our indoor dining room.

Home 231 Ratings and Reviews
We are new to the area, and we came across Home 231 on this app. We were delightfully surprised. From the amazing cocktails, to the perfectly composed entrees, and finishing with delicious ice cream we were WOWed. We will be back and we are looking forward to trying brunch. Our server Mike made the experience all the more wonderful, and he managed to keep the timing of our courses even after the restaurant filled up. Food was to die for, and I can’t wait to go back.
This was my first time to Home 231. I can honestly say that this was one of the best meals I have ever had. I was there with some of my girlfriends. We ate appetizers, (which were out of this world good), soup, and salads. It was more than enough food and we took some home. We also had really tasty and fun cocktails!
Consistent is the best description. Food is fresh, good flavors and unexpected specials. Service is very friendly and attentive too. Their drink specialties have fun names & good flavors but the candied bacon in the martini gets me every time. They've got a drink with a clever name but the proceeds go towards Breast Cancer as a fund raiser so kudos on helping others too. Very accommodating to customize my dish for my gluten & dairy allergies too.
My wife and I made our reservation via OpenTable and indicated we were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. They seated us in the very exclusive window table. (Nice Touch). Our desert arrived with sparklers and some sweat treats to enjoy all wrapped in a beautiful box. To top it off the staff gave us a Happy Anniversary Card. I never have been disappointed by the food or service at Home 231. They appreciate your business and make you feel very welcome. Sunday brunch is also a winner here!
My second time visiting - and it was as good as the first! The service was great, if a tad slow (nothing unusual for a busy place, though), and food was delicious as always. I really appreciate the uniqueness of their selections and the quality of their food.
We had an excellent seat by the window, alone in a little nook, which provided a memorable dining experience. Overall I’m incredibly pleased. This is my favorite restaurant in Harrisburg!
Everything we hoped for. Ambiance and service exceeded expectations. They set up an outdoor table for us and acted happy to do it. Server Dustin was knowledgeable and engaged in a little friendly banter without being intrusive; he was there at the right times (but not too frequently); he treated my 9 year old respectfully; and when we asked an ingredient question he remembered to ask in the kitchen and brought us back the answer. We sat outside because it was a warm fall night and the residential street is so cozy with the overhanging canopy of trees and the glowing strretlights. We enjoyed watching the people on the street come home, walk dogs, etc. There were many enticing selections on the menu. Because of the soups, creative sides/veg, and sharing plates I was able to try a few things whereas my husband ordered an entree. The food mostly lived up to the menu descriptions, though we found many thingsto be on the heavy side. I give it an A-, and with a few tweaks (or maybe on other nights) could be an A+, eg, the Brussels sprouts side was terrific but the ones at the bottom were *swimming* in grease (I do not shy away from bacon grease or butter but I couldn't eat those sprouts...I mean, call me crazy, but I do prefer my food to taste like the thing I ordered), and the hush puppies had a too- thick crunchy layer like a food truck donut which made them richer than necessary. The hush puppies would have been a home run if the flavor of the bread hadn't been dulled by the thick deep-fry shell. That is not to say we didn't enjoy what we got. We fought over the one bowl of tomato soup we ordered. My husband was over the moon about his pork ribeye. And my daughter traded me her hush puppies for my duck tacos because she loved them so much. And lastly, even the food runners and the bartender were super to us. Jocelyn made a very fancy non-alcoholic sangria for my girl and when she ran into us inside she remembered us and asked how she liked it. Everyone was very caring.
My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a road trip and we were very pleased. Its a cute place in a historic looking neighborhood. We had an excellent salad with pickled blueberries and yummy fish tacos and fabulous fries. There was a nice wine by the glass selection although we stuck with ice tea and fresh lemonade. The service was friendly and attentive.
We have never had a poor meal at 231 North! The service was good, but not as exemplary as we have had other times here - there was delays with dessert and the dessert menu changed.
We will definitely come back again - it's a great place for Sunday brunch especially if you are going to the Harrisburg Symphony that afternoon.
My wife and I celebrated our 7th anniversary here and the atmosphere was very nice. The food was excellent in both taste and presentation. The portion size was perfect. The wait staff was very friendly, professional and attentive. The price was very fair for the food and drinks we ordered. There was off street parking located about 75 feet after the restaurant . If I had one complaint, there was an emergency exit door at the front of the restaurant the staff kept using, and it would slam shut. I wish they had been a little more aware of how loud the door was and closed it a little more gently. Took away from the atmosphere of romance a little.
The food was very good. The ambiance of the place would have been better, but we could hear the servers can complaining about how long they were going to be at work. Our server seemed distracted, and while she wasn't inattentive she could have been a lot better. She constantly seemed to be in a hurry. It takes away from the meal when the staff are obviously not thrilled to be at work.
Made a reservation for lunch at Home 231 on Wed. 10/4/17. Was in Harrisburg for a business meeting with the president of the company and not being familiar with Harrisburg I found Home 231 through a google search. After reviewing the reviews and checking out the menu I thought this would be a great choice for our brief lunch. Boy did we hit the jackpot. Great atmosphere, excellent very fresh lunch options and very friendly staff. The shaved brussel sprout salad was off the charts and my blackened barramundi tacos were on point. Heck, even the homemade chips were a winner. Can't go wrong here!!
We had Brunch & it was fabulous!! Our server was great & sorry I can't remember his name but very knowledgeable on the menu & specials. The chicken & waffles were to die for!!! I hope this stays on their menu - it was perfectly done & loved the flavorful chicken breast with poached egg. My hubby loved his Chorizo dish so we will be back for more especially Mimosas & Bloody Mary's.
Very slow service but most of the food was very good. Brunch might not be representative of other meals, though. The egg sandwhich was very bready and kind of dry. Shrimp and grits very good. The donuts were great but we had to wait for at least half an hour for our entrees to come after we ate them, so the donuts just made us feel kind of sick in the end. Would have been much better if they'd come right before our food. The waitress didn't say anything about the long wait for food so that must be normal.
We joined friends for a weekend together in Harrisburg & researched good Sunday brunch spots. We really lucked out choosing Home 231! I had a hard time choosing just 1 thing but the quiche of the day was incredible! It was served in a cast iron pan with flaky homemade crust & perfectly seasoned wild mushroom, poblano pepper & corn filling. The outdoor patio setting was a real treat. But maybe the best thing was the exceptional service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & even staged our table for a group picture. We will definitely return to Home.
Just a suggestion.. make a reservation. There was quite a line waiting to be seated.
My husband and I found this restaurant on Open Table while we were traveling through Harrisburg. We had a wonderful meal after a long day of driving. Cozy, intimate atmosphere. Food was all delicious, cocktails tasty , service was excellent. We really enjoyed Boudin ball appetizer and the shaved Brussel sprout salad. Both entries were excellent but unfortunately no room for dessert. Highly recommend this cute restaurant.
