This restaurant is permanently closed. Holy Ground is a restaurant and speakeasy where the classic New York Steakhouse meets Smoke House and Cocktail Bar. Named for it’s historic location in TriBeCa, the downtown area once known as the “Holy Ground” in the 1700s borrows from the neighborhoods’ rich and colorful history to create a unique dining and drinking experience.
From the moment you enter the underground space, you are transported to the New York of century’s past. With some surprising nuances, the the 58-seat dimly lit dining room and bar features architectural elements and decor reminiscent of historic dining destinations. Dark mahogany wood cover the space throughout with bold shades of red and vintage touches, creating a seductive and tucked away feel. Holy Ground is open 7 days a week for dinner.

Need better menu options, drinks could have been better. $16 for a half full drink. Overall food and atmosphere were just OK. I also left with a smoky smell all the way home that lasted until the next day. I was really anticipating going to this restaurant for a while but came up just short of meeting my expectations.

Everything was great, nice vibe. Service was on point. A little pricey for a steak, but you can choose something else on the menu what suits your budget.

I had a friend recommend Holy Ground to me and it completely exceeded my expectations. The wait staff, the atmosphere and the food were all about as good as it gets. Will be back soon

Booked through OpenTable and told them that when we arrived. Later we got a msg from OpenRent asking why we hadn't turned up.
Ordered 2 Prawn appetisers, only 1 turned up so had to wait from them to make and bring the 2nd.
Ordered rib, potatoes and brocoli.
Rib and broccoli arrived. Had to ask again for potatoes. Rib was fantastic but broccoli was cold, not even warm, COLD.
Complained and they didn't even offer to take the rib away and start again so we ended up with a 3 course main meal; rid-potatoes-brocoli. An apology but no attempt to make amends or offer any reduction.
The place has potential but would not recommend under the current management.

Picked this spot to meet up with an old high school buddy. Looking for a good steak/meat spot and unfortunately this wasn’t the best. The brisket was super tough, I was expecting it to be much more tender. Sides were of but the drinks were over priced for the size they are. Don’t think I’ll recommend to my friends. Not quite worth the money.

I would recommend Holy Ground to a friend for drinks and atmosphere, but not for dinner. When a $30 piece of fish comes out burnt, is served anyway, and the waiter is nowhere to be found after it is delivered, I think that at least an apology could be expected. (There was none.) And lest the staff say that the fish was meant to be served in that blackened manner (without the seasoning of blackened fish), the same dish was served at our table that night to my friend, and was decidedly NOT burnt or blackened.

Delicious food and cocktails. I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his graduation. Portions are big, we shared the beef rib with a few sides and rib appetizer. I’m not the biggest meat eater though so while I thought everything tasted incredible, I feel like there isn’t much option for someone who’d prefer a lighter meal. My boyfriend loved it though so worth it. Service was great!

It was my husband’s birthday and we made a reservation attesting that.
However, they did not do anything about that. Not even a dessert with a message. Nothing.

The food is amazing!!!!
Ambiance is very cool. We loved that.

Overall experience was great.
Will definitely be back.

Food dry, almost inedible.
Spare ribs dry but we ate
Wagyu so dry that no one could it. We told the waiters. Sure enough dish appeared on bill!!!

Bartender and waiter could not be bothered. Hostess was pleasant though. Last call was 8:45pm, though they never announced it. Big disappointment. They should’ve closed for the day if they didn’t want to provide service.

One of the coolest restaurants to be in. Has this 1920’s Chicago-esque vibe. They play old time music and you sit in these super comfy red vinyl seats. I can’t compare it to any dining experience before. The beef rib is amazing. As well as the spicy broccoli. Skip the seafood — the salmon tartare is underwhelming for price. This is a MEAT place. Order the pork shoulder (if they don’t run out). Ribs are amazing as is the Mac & cheese. I will definitely go again!

We waited FOREVER for our food, sitting underneath an air conditioner that blew freezing air on top of us. There was a 35 minute gap between our first and second courses. The ambiance was...weird, and I felt like I left a beautiful NYC evening (rare) and went into a dungeon.

We made a big ask of this pretty small restaurant for a birthday celebration. They came through with fantastic food (the ribeye is a must-try), super accommodating service, and indulgence of our large group dynamic. We’ve also been for late-night drinks before, which are equally fantastic. They have a surprisingly nuanced selection of after-dinner drinks as well!

The food was outstanding! Everything is prepared well! The menu has something for everyone. Love the Salmon tartare with the dramatic chip, the Ribeye is a good choice and will definitely feed three happily! The cocktails were covered what everyone likes, the Coco Darling was sweet with a kick! Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu!

We had been looking forward to going to Holy ground for a while now. We got there at 9 and they were already out of a few of the things we wanted to have. Heres what we got: winter citrus salad: very small lacking greens. Flavors were very good but should have been about 25% larger for the price maybe add more greens? The pork belly- very good. Probably my favorite thing we ate. It was thick and topped with chiccaron and herbs. We then had the broccoli which was delicious and the scallops we got 3. A couple sharing 3 scallops is pretty rude but whatever they were very good. For the meats we had the butcher steak and 1/2lb brisket. The steak was good. Cooked perfect sliced and had a spicy chimichurri sauce. The brisket was dry and the flavor of the smoke reminded me of church. If you're looking for bbq there are many good places in NYC idk if this is the one. For dessert we ordered the special which the waiter came back and informed us they were out of. Ok. We got the sundae. The sundae was fine. Basic vanilla and chocolate ice cream. The "star" was the toffee fudge sauce that was brought out in a small metal cup drizzled sparingly and then whisked back off into the kitchen??? Why??? The only way we got to enjoy it was by scraping it off the sides of the glass. They really should have left it on the table or put the sauce on in the back.
