    My friend and I went for a Thanksgiving splurge. We split a Signature Omakase and a Signature platter of sashimi- everything was delicious, but the steaks were the stars for me. Truly some of the best bites of my life, curated at our table. Our servers and grill master were cute, the big booth seating was spacious and comfortable, and the vibe was chic but chill. So worth the expense. I can't stop talking about it. I will absolutely go back, and I'm getting a whole Omakase for myself.

    Second time here - not as good as the first. Steak wasn't of the same quality and they brought the salad out with the steak instead of at the beginning. Asked for medium rare and each piece was basically overcooked. Not itching to go back at these prices.

    We saw Holu on Instagram and went to check it out. It’s not just hype, it’s legit. Delicious steak flight, seafood options, and the Japanese wagyu was worth every penny. A person cooks the meat to perfection at your table and service was excellent all around. I had the Gozu old fashioned and it didn’t disappoint. All in all, we would definitely dine at Holu again.

    We signed up for a specific menu experience/price. When we got to the restaurant, we were told that we would not be able to do that because they removed it from the menu. It was the first time we had been told that. A similar experience/menu was now just about DOUBLE the price we signed up for, via OpenTable. Was disappointing and very expensive. They should really honor price, even if slight adjustments have to be made.

    This is a definite do again for us! The service was great and the steak was cooked to perfection for both me and my husband (I like rare and he likes medium). Whether it's a special occasion or just for fun-- highly recommend.

    Had a party of 14 & we were grouped in 4 tables around each other. Total of about 4 servers working for our section. Our group was a fairly easy group- little to no relevant allergies, no special requests, but they still managed to forget three couples’ fried rice and sushi. We kept flagging the staff down to grab our missing orders over the course of the hour - but they never brought it out and kept making an excuse that the kitchen was really busy and couldn’t accurately push out orders. I’m a little disappointed since this was my third time here. Food quality was there, but service was just not what I remembered from previous visits.

    They did not offer the fixed price option for everyone at the table which was listed on the online menu. Food was good, but service was a little weird here, as was the overall vibe/ambience given the price point. Waiter took our drink and food orders at the beginning of the meal and we never saw him again until after we paid the check. The guy cooking the meat at the table tried to find a waiter for us to order more drinks, but couldn't, and eventually we ordered through him even though he was saying he didn't normally take the orders.

    Amazing time. Carnivorous spread is the way to go. Service was very accommodating and friendly. Recommend good wine too. Everything that came out was top notch. You certainly get your moneys worth here. Although the steak was the main attraction, the sushi and oysters were a grand slam too.

    We went to Holu on a recommendation and we couldn't have been happier. The food was absolutely delicious. Our server was so helpful, kind and engaging as she perfectly grilled our different cuts of steak. She offered great suggestions on what to order as the menu all looked so amazing. The sushi was really fresh and cut in large pieces. Definitely a value. The restaurant has a modern, sleek vibe and is near a Japanese market. It's a cool part of the city and off the usual path for steak restaurants. We will be back for future special occasions for sure.

    Great service! They guided your menu choices so that you didn't order unnecessarily, cooked the meat for you at the table while being extremely mindful of the pace of your dinner and what other food you were working on. The food was very good quality and delivered on the flavors

    We had the steak flight and the meat was some of the best I've ever had. The woman that cooked our food tableside was so polite and helpful. There did seem to be a couple communication issues with our orders throughout the night but they were addressed and corrected in a timely manner. One of my favorite meals of all time and we will return. Everything seemed to be made with very premium ingredients and lots of love. I'll be recommending this place to everyone I can.

    I was very disappointed this time. They brought the same amount of snacks for two people as they did for five people, which doesn’t make sense and feels cheap. The meat was initially cooked medium, as we had requested, but then it was cooked almost rare. Service was just so-so. This was a complete opposite experience compared to my previous visit.

    Finest quality aged beef in Chicago. Had the Kobe A5 Fillet. That was amazing. Honestly I’ve had true Kobe before in Kyoto (got the cow nose prints on a certificate lol), it is amazing meat but it still needs to be cooked. The grill technique in front of you is pretty cool and our steak was always perfectly cooked. Anyway the only thing I could think of to compare the Kobe A5 Fillet is foie gras. It was that fatty, melt in your mouth beef. Salt bowl and two sauces to dip into which I used and thought enhanced the experience though not necessary for a purist certainly. Also highly recommend the short rib. Liked 2 of the apps: foie gras tuna dish and the lobster dish. Both great. Wine menu is small but fine.This is probably the best steakhouse in Chicago for steak. The glass aged meat trays had beautiful aged meat 30-45-60 and even 90 day! (I didn’t know that was an option on the menu but evidently they have customers that ask for it aged that long). Next time I’ll be trying that! Make no mistake this is a high-end restaurant. It really belongs in River North to be honest but enjoy it now before it does.

    10/10 would definitely come here again. The worker Leo was super fun and kept us entertained the whole time. Serving vegetables instead of rice with the different kind of meats was 100% more enjoyable.

    Great experience. Got the carnivore package and added A5 ribeye and filet( Get them!) . Leo was so nice and we had a great time talking to him. You leave satisfied by I know I could have had more. Next time we come we’ll get steaks instead of the package now that we know what we like. Dessert was okay. Soft serve was better than the ricotta/pistachio cake. Overall great experience especially for a celebration or date.

    We were disappointed in our experience. When I booked, I booked for the meat feast, however our waiter told us that that was ‘only for people who couldn’t read the menu’. We were confused about how we should order for a family of 5. We ended up ordering a meat flight, but was told ordering 1 per diner was too much. So we ordered 2 flights for the family to share. It was a meager portion, which the cook cut up into 5 tiny bites. No disrespect to the cook, who was lovely and did a nice job, but the tiny little pieces were just comical. We added another steak to our order, which provided another 2-3 bites per person. We did have a cocktail (or mock tail) each, and a bottle of wine, but it felt strange to spend over $600 and leave hungry. Perhaps we ‘ordered wrong’, but we were given no advice on how best to experience the restaurant the right way. We would never return, and I hope this serves to warn people that this restaurant is not worth the money.
