I waited 1 hour even though I had a reservation. My reservation was at 6:30 but they let me in around 7:15. The service was slow as well, no one showed up within 20min after we had seat.
We had May and she was wonderful. It was our first time so she made recommendations for us and it was very good. Highly recommend.
Get the Paradise if your first time… couple apps maybe. Food doesn’t seem much but was stuffed at the end. Great drinks. Love the booths
Definitely did not disappoint. The host, Leo, was amazing. We knew what we wanted but he did make good recommendations.
I had the best experience I’ve ever had a steakhouse!
My new favorite steakhouse! Leo you’re the best!
This is definitely a one shot place for me, it was great service from our lovely waiter who tried to make every experience exceptional. The food was very expensive and gave high hopes of a “nothing short of amazing taste” but ended up being not anything spectacular nor were the drinks. You have to go out into the store area for the restroom which is a pretty chilly travel being that it’s not becoming winter.
We have been twice now and our second experience was even better than the first. Amazing service and conversation & even better food. Will be back
Food, service, ambiance all get high praise in this upper scale Asian restaurant. It's a little pricey but worth the experience of having your steak grilled right in front of you. Cocktails are tasty but pricey as well.
Amazing. Such great service
Went in when not a lot of tables were taken, after we were handed the menu, we had to wait for 15+ minutes to have someone take our order. The server accidentally burn our food, and when we brought it up she just simply cut the burned part off of the A5 fillet mignon. Not to mention the grill surface is never changed during the meal. If you advertise yourself as a prime steakhouse, changing the grill surface would definitely be in my expectations.
CON: way under staff, their menu is a mess (wrong translations, even the fonts look weird), the steak cuts from them weren’t even, server might burn your food
PRO: free desserts
Great new place with quality meats!
A great change of pace. Very unique dining experience.
The food was amazing! We had the sea urchin, lobster fried rice, jumbo prawns and meat platter. Super delicious!!
Also, our private was super friendly and amazing.
Our server Leo was awesome! Different choices of meat gave variety.
The steaks are given one ounce at a time, you can add more ounces if you’d like. The vegan fried rice is good as well.
Overall a good experience
First time there. It was amazing. We are steak eaters and we had never had anything like it.
The food tasted sooooo good! Staffs were friendly and the environment was great! Will definitely come back.
I understand how hard it is for businesses to survive in the pandemic, but for a place that just opened, it seems like they’re spending their money in completely wrong places. I had such high expectations based on great (most likely bought) reviews, and was so sorely disappointed.
The more I think about my experience the more angry I get. I wasted money, time, and calories on things I wasn’t there to spend money on, e.g. rice and pickled veges. I’m still reeling over spending $25 on a urchin don that had less uni on it than an uni sushi (which even at the most upscale sushi restaurants cost under $20). The drinks list is ridiculously overpriced, and the meat, while good, was entirely unsatisfying for my belly. If I paid $150 at Gibsons I know at least I’ll be full and happy. This place is like a narcissistic Gyu Kaku thinking it’s way more than it actually is, taking Chicago diners for idiots. Ew.
Absolutely delicious food. It was so good that we went to Holu two nights in a row. It's pricey but worth every single penny. The service was top notch.
I loved everyday about it. I highly recommend eating here.
I will for sure make this a go to spot.
I think their drinks are overpriced specially we are not even in downtown $20 for a long island. The meat itself was fresh. I went with one of my friend that doesn’t eat raw so I told them to cook it more well to well done and one of the servers were like “ its not good like that let me help you cook them” and it was rare to med rare. Told them we would cook it ourselves 1 server was fine with it that other server came over and started to cook them asking how well we like it but not cooking how we like it. How you can force a customer to eat something they don’t like. Doesn’t make sense.
Great concept having our food cooked for us table side but not like hibachi with other people. Fun atmosphere. Bar has great whiskey from other countries like Japan & Vietnam. Dodd was delicious!
For a birthday, we enjoyed an amazing dinner. Exceptional food and service—can’t wait to go again!
Holu was amazing from the get go. Beautiful space greeted us as well as the wonderful Thomas who was so accommodating and friendly.
We had the “Meat Paradise” and from the presentation on thick wood blocks to the high end meats, was truly a paradise. We also had the Tiger Prawn and the Lobster - wow! Both showed up on salt blocks and beautifully presented. We also ordered many of the side dishes like the Wagu tartar, crab cakes, lobster salad and everything was beautifully presented and delicious!
We can’t say enough of the service by Ashley, who was with us during the perfect cooking of the meats to the seafood with great recommendations on what we shouldn’t miss out on. The wine selection as well as the sake selection was excellent.
Overall, I recommend you have to experience Holu at least once, but when you do, you’ll want to go back time and time again.
Very good premium cuts of meat and great customer service. The servers cook everything for you so you don't have to cook it yourself and ruin the meats (I always mess it up when I do it lol). I did the meat paradise platter, A5 Wagyu ribeye, Wagyu tongue, and Anago eel. The dry age meats from the platter were my absolute favorite, even over the A5 wagyu! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!
Quite expensive. Food was pretty good, but 200$ for 2 you expect sensational.
