We are new to the area and have been looking for a place like this. What an amazing meal, service, and drinks.
Tonight's feature was a ten course Kaiseki style meal ... just wonderful all around. Everything was fresh, hot,, and delicious.
We will definitely be back! Sorry pictures wouldn't upload ...
We went to a Kentucky Kaiseki dinner with a set menu. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent.
I loved the Kentucky Keiseki event. The food was delicious and really enjoyed experiencing all the different flavors. I hope the restaurant does more of these types of dinner. I prefer this type of event than the regular menu.
An absolutely amazing evening to celebrate a special occasion. Wait staff, food & beverage were amazing.
We had the Kentucky Kaiseki set menu. It was great and even greater value.
We typically have great experiences at Holly Hill Inn. However, last night was off. The service was good regarding drinks and friendliness but they never explained any of the many dishes that were brought out. The food was inconsistent. I.e. the tuna was cut very inconsistently across the table and one of my pieces still had connective tissue on it. Another example was the matcha lotus pancake that was missing from the prawn dish. I understand that things happen in the kitchen and it maybe had to be ditched but the server didn’t mention it and even explained that it was typo on the menu.
However, I would like to say that the pork belly dish was great, as was the swordfish itself.
We will definitely come back as this is really the first not great experience we have had here but as a group, we felt like it was an experience and consistency we have gotten used too at Holly Hill Inn.
Their special Kentucky Kaiseki dinner was truly special. Took about three hours—just like in Japan—as we savored one unique course after another. Many items and flavors that were new to me, but everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Frankly, I have no idea how they could prepare and serve such an extensive meal of specialty foods for only $75. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time!
I attended a multicourse special event Japanese dinner and it was an over the top dining experience. The presentation of each dish was unique, beautiful and a feast for the eyes. I loved how regional ingredients were used in nontradional ways. It was a delicious and delightful experience.
Always a delight to do Sunday Brunch at Holly Hill Inn. The holiday decorations are a must see!
Very nice place for a special meal with special friends.
The place is beautiful and the food was fantastic, service Tops!
Holly Hill Inn is always a special dining experience. Creative dishes, great service, beautiful surroundings.
Holly Hill Inn is our go to restaurant for special occasions and one of our favorite restaurants. This visit I am sorry to say the food was awful! It was their holiday luncheon special menu. I ordered the sirloin and it was tough, overcooked, and very disappointing. Our dessert, the jam cake, was dry and too sweet. We have ordered their jam cake for the past several seasons of holiday luncheons and it was always our favorite dessert. I do want to compliment the service. It was excellent as always. They also have provided a safe dining experience during the pandemic and we really have appreciated that. I am just so sorry to have to write this review. It will be a long while until we are ready to go back and give them another try.
I was an excellent meal and I really appreciate the wonderful tastes of all the dishes. The fixed price sounds high but you get a lot of food and at the end to the total is no higher than ala carte and you may have food to take home. The wine by the glass is also very reasonably priced.
Holly Hill Inn is a wonderful place to go for something really special. The pace is relaxing and the food is out of this world! We had the 4 course meal. Each piece of every course was excellent. With the wine flight, an appetizer, and meals for two, our bill came to $165. That’s a lot for us to spend, but it was worth it and we’ll be back for the next special event.
A holiday lunch at Holly Hill is one of our favorite traditions. So glad we could get back this year. We even had a nice visit with Chef Ouita!
We attended the holiday meal this season at Holly Hill. We had heard good things about it. The inn is spectacular as far as ambiance and setting. We had the four course meal however, it left something to be desired. We never received the first course ( not sure if the server forgot about us or if they ran out). Server didn’t mention any issues with it and by the time we realized we had our second course. Second course was great. The main entree was good as well. Everyone chose steak except me and I went with the swordfish. It was very good but portion was a little lacking. The desert trio was also very good. I would have to say the service overall was lacking (at least for us). Not sure if we were not attended to because we didn’t order alcohol as other tables did or if they were just overly busy. However, it is bot really an excuse for our party not receiving a first course or bread ( we had a party of 4 and we received 3 breadsticks after we had finished our main entrees (to little to late). I do not plan on returning.
Our holiday dinner at Holly Hill Inn was outstanding. The food was exquisitely prepared. Flavors were exceptional. The service was impeccable. This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We will definitely be returning many times in the future.
We adore Holly Hill, it’s always a wonderful dining experience.
Birthday Event with my Church group. It was all so nice service and food was excellent.
Service was very slow.
The service once we were seated was great. We did, however, stand in the entrance un-acknowledged for for several minutes. The restaurant is set on a beautiful property in a historic house. It is well worth the visit to this piece of Kentucky history.
Always a treat to have Sunday lunch or brunch at Holly Hill
Our meal was delicious! We had great service and the restaurant looks beautiful decorated for Christmas!
Always bring out of town guests to Holly Hill Inn. Such ambiance, and beautiful food, most delicious! Appreciate everything about Chef Quita.
Outstanding food and service!
Annual Christmas lunch with my wife and mother in law, as always the food was excellent and service very friendly and first class. We will be back. Must do for the Holidays.
Very nice, the food was delicious,, was disappointed that such a lovely building wasnt decorated in the decor of its time....it is a beautiful building
This is a classic favorite and the food did not disappoint.
Sharpen the steak knives! My steak was more rare than medium rare, not a big deal, but the knife was challenged to cut it with. The rest of the experience was outstanding. We will be back if you sharpen those steak knives.
Excellent food and service, atmosphere was quiet with wonderful festive decor for Christmas.
The Holiday luncheon was delicious! And they really added a personal touch for a birthday celebration at our table. It was greatly appreciated!!
Excellent experience with cozy and elegant setting.
Excellent local eats. The squash bisque is so delicious. Good service in a quaint yet classy quiet setting. This was our first visit, a lovely brunch for our 40th wedding anniversary. Attention to cleanliness appreciated.
Celebrated my 50th birthday with a lovely brunch at Holly Hill. The food was amazing, the service impeccable (thank you Graham) and the ambience was elegant and festively decorated for the holidays. Absolute perfection.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal in a lovely setting decorated for the holidays. We had enough to bring home for lunch the next day.
Our food was served cold
they did make it right but should not serve cold soup and food
a bad experience unfortunately
they said because their other resturants needed help so they were shut down for 2 weeks but that should not be an excuse for cold food expecially for the price
Fantastic as always. Glad to be back there in person.
Great evening with excellent food, great service and good company. Highly Recommend!
The Holly Hill Inn is a magical place any night you want to go, but on Cassoulet night it surpasses even that. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this wonderful gem.
