Hojoko is a Japanese tavern in the heart of Fenway Park. Modeled after izakayas, or drinking taverns, in Japan, the food is meant to be enjoyed with drinks and good company!
Specializing in small plates, the menu encourages diners to share and explore. A Robata Grill imported from Japan is the focal point of the open kitchen, turning out traditional and nontraditional yakitori.
Chill vibe, great music. The groove is excellent for a date cos it’s not super loud. The main area is also a chill place with karaoke on certain days. Food is mostly good.
Came here with a couple of friends for a celebratory dinner. Stand outs were the passionfruit cocktail and the spicy pork ramen - best ramen I've ever had in Boston! Our neighbors ordered the sushi roulette, which looked like a lot of fun, I would do it with a larger group. We were seated inside at a long table overlooking the pool. I'm looking forward to bringing friends & family here and sharing the funky, unique vibe! Dine here if you are in Fenway!!!
Nice atmosphere, creative and tasty food. Close to Fenway Park and a great place to go before or after the game. enjoyed the visit.
introducing some friends to Hojoko & they loved it as much as us!
My son and I went to Hojoko for dinner. The Saki was a bit pricey, but they have a large selection of different Saki wines to choose from.
We had Sushi and Sashimi and it was excellent! They have a large bar and I would recommend this place for the food or just to stop by for a drink.
It was a great way to celebrate my son’s birthday. Great food, excellent service.
Hojoko is a great find. We lived in Tokyo a number of years ago and the atmosphere reminded us of our favorite casual restaurant in Roppongi. Hojoko's menu is unique and a little kooky. The service and execution of the food was spot on. We loved the hamachi, eggplant and okonomiyaki. The spicy tuna and charred cauliflower were a little bland, but all in all it was a great experience. We will definitely be back!
I was there with my friends for my birthday. My boyfriend mentioned it right at the beginning that we were celebrating and the server didn’t seemed genuine on the interactions following the comments .The server was not very attentive, kinda ignored the table most of the night . I can see that he had a pretty big section however just lacked on service . Drinks and food items were missed throughout the night. The food was very good and we had a great time.
Hojoko exceeded all expectations! I would definitely recommend it for anyone considering going. My boyfriend doesn’t typically like Japanese fusion food but he loved it too!
The food was really great and we had a nice time once we got over the $60 parking fee! After speaking to several people, we got it reduced to $30 but it was a lot of work to make that happen.
I’d definitely go back and search longer for street parking.
Dynamic restaurant. Needs to get service part together. Seemed pricey for what we ordered.
The groove or the vinyl lounge is an excellent addition to the restaurant. The food is delectable, we got the charred cauliflower which was perfectly smokey, the kimcheesy fries and the fried chicken sandwich all of which were good portion size as well as delicious. A great selection of cocktails as well. The music was definitely what I came here for and was not disappointed.
Hojoko is just as amazing as I had anticipated! Only heard great things about the food and drinks here and also wanted to check out the Groove and was not disappointed. The restaurant servers were very friendly and attentive, however it took a long time to get drinks at the bar. Rob is an amazing chef - the tacos were to die for, the funky chicken ramen was delicious, and the karaage was a great drinking snack.
Kimchi fried rice was amazing! Portions a little small for price but great taste. Funky chicken was a very salty--highly recommend getting spice option.
A personal favorite!
We had a horrible experience! It was really ridiculous that this restaurant wouldn’t take my US government issued ID despite the fact that I’m way over 21; and this was the firs time ever that someone told me I cannot use my official ID which I use for everything. When I talked to the manager, she had a terrible attitude and made us feel uncomfortable, even the military couple sitting next to us pointed that out. Because of all that, we had to just leave without putting in any orders. I run a restaurant in Boston myself, and I know for sure this is not the way you treat your customers.
This place is fun. We came in on a Friday at 6:30 and they already had great live music going - we knew we were in for a good time. We were seated right away, ordered a mai tai and the Japanese high roller cocktails and an order of chicken tails. I would come back for the chicken tails alone. Crispy, salty, savory, juicy, with a hint of smoke from the Japanese style grill - this was the best way to start our meal. It was perfect. We also had the chicken ume skewer, chicken meatball (amazing), crispy chicken wings and okonomiyaki. We cleaned our plates. Everything hit all the right notes and paired perfectly with our cocktails. We made another reservation to come back while we were sitting there. Love this place.
Great food and great service - very fun
The food and service were good. Didn’t love that a bus boy cleared dishes without asking or making eye contact, just grabbed and walked away. Grilled chicken was incredibly salty (I put salt on my salt). Very, very noisy. Felt about 10 years too old to be there for 8pm on a Saturday night (I’m mid 30s). Overall, I would go again but more for cocktails or snacks than sit down dinner.
Loud/fun group place, good sake, bad food
The lazy bones handrolls were outstanding! The presentation was incredible and it tasted yummy! I have never seen sushi served like that before! Absolutely AMAZING!!
Food was incredible. Atmosphere was very high energy and fun!
My favorite place in the entire world. Great food, great drinks, great staff. Pretty expensive but worth every penny.
Loved the food and the service was most excellent!
We had a phenomenal experience. Our host, Alec, was brilliant.
Our bartender Ian was warm, friendly & attentive. His recommendations were spot on & he was very knowledgeable with the menu as well as drinks.
It was a decent hang out spot but not the place to go to experience really good ramen.
This is an awful place to go if you have shellfish allergies. Most of the food is deep fried in the same oil.
Ordered a wasabi roulette and waited for over 45 minutes. We ended up cancelling it since our friends already finished their meals.
Love this place. Very hip and the food is outstanding. Fun with a big crowd so you can order one of everything.
Not what I expected, but was ok overall. Very limited menu, very noisy place. I probably wouldn’t go again, but do try the Wasabi Roulette roll if you dare!
I love this place
Best meal in BOSTON!!! Seriously will go back there every time we are in town!
Amazing meal. I simply cannot say enough good things.
Great food fun atmosphere !
The whole environment is fun and festive. The drinks were a highlight , yummy and heavy on the alcohol. The hot dog was rich and smoky and the edamame the best I have ever had!
I had reserved a table some days before going and requested a table near the outdoor section. We reached 20 mins before our reservation and there were a lot of empty tables but they were giving us 2 bar stools instead of table, which we requested a table and there were loads of them near the outdoor seating but the host insisted we sit on a table inside. Just felt a bit weird. Our server was super nice and food was decent otherwise
A fantastic experience! We loved every bit of it. Some of our favorites were the shrimp toast, lamb shoulder, kimchi fried rice, crispy chicken wings, spicy miso ramen and the braised beef short rib udon. Our service was exceptional as it has always been in the past. We had an out of town guest with us and he was so impressed with the unique experience.
Favorite restaurant in Boston!
Our server Makaila was very knowledgeable on the food and had great drink recommendations.
