Hojoko is a Japanese tavern in the heart of Fenway Park. Modeled after izakayas, or drinking taverns, in Japan, the food is meant to be enjoyed with drinks and good company!
Specializing in small plates, the menu encourages diners to share and explore. A Robata Grill imported from Japan is the focal point of the open kitchen, turning out traditional and nontraditional yakitori.
Best meal in BOSTON!!! Seriously will go back there every time we are in town!
Amazing meal. I simply cannot say enough good things.
Great food fun atmosphere !
The whole environment is fun and festive. The drinks were a highlight , yummy and heavy on the alcohol. The hot dog was rich and smoky and the edamame the best I have ever had!
I had reserved a table some days before going and requested a table near the outdoor section. We reached 20 mins before our reservation and there were a lot of empty tables but they were giving us 2 bar stools instead of table, which we requested a table and there were loads of them near the outdoor seating but the host insisted we sit on a table inside. Just felt a bit weird. Our server was super nice and food was decent otherwise
A fantastic experience! We loved every bit of it. Some of our favorites were the shrimp toast, lamb shoulder, kimchi fried rice, crispy chicken wings, spicy miso ramen and the braised beef short rib udon. Our service was exceptional as it has always been in the past. We had an out of town guest with us and he was so impressed with the unique experience.
Favorite restaurant in Boston!
Our server Makaila was very knowledgeable on the food and had great drink recommendations.
The ramen we had was subpar and really didn't warrant the almost $20/dish when there are better joints less than 10 minutes walk away. Okay place if everywhere else is booked up.
Always fantastic- so much food, great drinks.
Food and service was excellent. It was pretty crowded so seating was pretty cramped.
I think the grills could use better ventilation because we walked out smelling like the food.
Really enjoyed the flavors of everything, especially the Kim Chi fried rice.
We came here for my friends birthday and the food and service was incredible. The cocktails were divine. We will be back.
Food was great！Tasting amazing！It's a bar, I will try the drinks next time.
Slow service. Food and drinks were awesome and very unique!
A place for fun... the food okay... more you eat, the salty it is in the mouth. definitely recommend the mushroom tempura, it is oyster mushroom with onion ring batter. The shrimp toast have lots of shrimp paste over the thin toast. The torched uni was okay, the nori butter taste no butter at all. If you don't like the torched taste, don't order it. I want to order the wasabi sushi with the baby bottle but no one want to eat it... kind of disappointed since I did not get to try. Shitake mushroom tempura was something special, don't try it if don't like the truffle oil. Funky chicken ramen had a thick soupbase. The short rib udon was okay but it is not oily at all and the udon taste like thick chinese dried udon. Kimchi fried rice was kind of fusion style compare to the kimchi fried rice you eat at korean restuarant. Chicken wings was on house but not a fan of it since it was marinate with miso.
Nori tacos are amazing! And eggplant dish is also great! Would highly recommend!!
My mouth died and went to heaven. Everything on the menu that we tried was out of this world amazing. We had the hiramasa sashimi, brains on crack, glazed Japanese eggplant, mushroom tempura, and sashimi rice bowl. Everything was so delicious.
The food was good especially the ramen. The ambiance was very unique. I liked how casual and colorful it was. It took a while to get our food, but besides that everything was pretty great.
We had a blast. Great experience. Loved the pickles, Hamachi-kama, ume-shiso chicken... Unique, delicious food, fun vibe. A treat!
Love this place. Funky scene and menu, but everything fits perfectly and the food/drinks are great!!
Be bold and try the brains. Seriously, they’re worth it!
Loud and hurried. Went for a birthday and they brought out a birthday dessert for the birthday person but didn’t ask anyone else if they wanted dessert and quickly brought the check.
Fantastic atmosphere, service, and food! The dumplings we had we the best we have ever tasted! It is slightly pricey for the portion sizes, but the quality of the food makes it worthwhile!
We loved the spicy tuna and grilled shrimp rolls. The shrimp and pork potstickers were amazing too. It's an upbeat, fun, casual restaurant with great service and excellent food. Looking forward to returning!
I have been to Hojoko and I love the food, typically have had good experiences. I went tonighf
Enjoyed a wonderful meal and great saki options! Fun decor, will return!
Great experience, great food, ended up with a 26 hour first date thanks to Hojoko. #bomb #besttruffleshrooms
Always exceptional service, food, and drink.
We started with drinks at the bar. Bartender was terrific. Moved to a table where we had made a reservation. Drinks and food were outstanding. Person taking our order had zero communication skills and no personality. Did not converse with any one at the table and left before every one at the table had given her their order. Other wait staff were much more attentive to our table, clearing dishes and answering questions.
Wonderful as always!
Food and drinks were good, but had to wait 40 minutes even with my reservation. Portions are also a bit small.
Everything was great except for 2 minor things. 1) the food was excellent but definitely overpriced for the portion sizes compared to other similar restaurants (specifically Tiger Mama and Myers + Chang) but it may have been just what we ordered. 2) our server was very responsive at the beginning of our meal but we waited almost half an hour to get the check and that was only because we flagged down another server.
Great cocktails, better food, live music almost every Thursday night. Reservation is needed on weekends, but probably not Monday-Wednesday
Came in on New Years eve - great food, great cocktails, great DJ. Jennifer did an incredible job taking care of us.
As usual, delicious. Extraordinary service. I love this place.
Amazingly creative menu! Kind of a hipster vibe, but also family-friendly. Every single thing I’ve tried has been delicious!
Great food, bad service. Our party of 4 had 2 different servers throughout our dinner. One got us water, the other took our order, and delivered our check. Never saw them other than that. Food runners brought our food. Food was awesome. The scorpion bowl we ordered for the 4 of us was 85% ice and 15% liquor, 100% overpriced. I felt bad leaving a bad tip, but we needed more drinks during our dinner that never happened, and even wanted to order more food, but no one came. Once again, great food! Servers need some training though.
Food was generally very good. The sushi was extremely fresh, but I wasn't wowed by any of the small plates we ordered. All in all, a good meal.
Food creative and delicious. High energy place; fun for groups, fun night out. $230 for 3 of us (one didn’t drink) so not inexpensive. Would go back.
We love Hojoko - it never lets us down for a casual fun night with amazing food. The beer and cocktails are sensational, but the wine list is short and not stellar. The atmosphere is funky. The entire experience translates well for all manner of occasion and the chefs are remarkably flexible for translating dishes into vegan/allergy free alternatives. Recommended without hesitation.
Food underwhelming - various dishes tried. Had much higher expectations based on ratings. Very loud, turns into a bar/club late at night. Ambience is fine but don’t go for the food if you are a foodie like us.
