Hojoko is a Japanese tavern in the heart of Fenway Park. Modeled after izakayas, or drinking taverns, in Japan, the food is meant to be enjoyed with drinks and good company!
Specializing in small plates, the menu encourages diners to share and explore. A Robata Grill imported from Japan is the focal point of the open kitchen, turning out traditional and nontraditional yakitori.
Everything was great! A bit noisy, but it was alright for me.
The food and drinks were so great! We can’t wait to go back.
Always great and unique food. A little load but very energetic atmosphere.
Cool spot. Great drinks.
We went to Hojoko for a friend’s surprise birthday dinner. The staff were awesome in helping us to surprise him and in making it a memorable night! As always, the food and drinks were top notch. I love this place!
Food was great! We tried 7 different dishes between two of us. The hamachi was delicious!
Excellent, fun, food. Great for sharing. We ordered a mix of appetizers, ramen, Curry, and everything was delicious.
Shitake mushroom maki is excellent and unique. The other maki was a bit ordinary and not worth the price compared with other neighboring sushi serving restaurants.
Hojoko always has amazing food! Literally Everything that I’ve tried there is good. Ser rice is not amazing, but it’s not too bad for what you’re paying.
I really loved this place. it was nothing like we expect and it was a wonderful surprise. the food had a unique twist and the service was great . every waiter in the place was eager to help any table. I would highly recommend this place.
This place was very interesting. It had a unique spin on Sushi and many Asian dishes. We truly enjoyed every dish. The Sushi was fresh and and the sharing dished are really good. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very helpful with the menu and all the other waiter that were walking around all were eager to help. I will defiantly go back.
Hojoko has bang average food and a cool ambiance.
The burgers were an embarrassment. 18 dollars for a burger on Pepperidge farm buns with a subpar little patty.
we ordered sushi that only came 30 minutes after we had finished all of our other dishes.
The sushi was also very average. I recommend douzo for sushi and tiger mama down the street as much better comparable options.
The atmosphere was great, but it was very noisy. The service was disappointing; we waited 15 minutes before a drink order was taken, and the server was very brusk. We weren’t checked on during the meal frequently, and water glasses were not refilled. The spicy ramen was good. Don’t order the cheeseburger; it was like ordering off of the kids menu at McDonald’s. The burger was tasty, but very small with a fast food style bun. The French fries came in a small paper bag the size of a small McDonald’s fry order; the only difference being the price, $18 for the burger. Disappointing.
Some of the portions were very small but food was very good. It was eRly and the place was not busy but we felt rushed by our sever who was otherwise nice and very helpful with the menu.
Great menu choices. Something for everyone. Fried chicken sandwich, shrimp toast and tuna tacos are all excellent. Cocktail with mango foam was amazing. Bearded server was very attentive and personable.
Ate here before a concert. The place is always bustling and the food is always above average.
got the charred cauliflower (which can be made vegan) and it was amaaazing!
Great spicy tuna roll - fun atmosphere, sat outside. Nice waitress. Not crazy about potstickers. Would go back!
Some great dishes and some good dishes. Lots of interesting choices on the menu and a disinterested server.
Not able to review the food since when we arrived at 10:23PM for our 10:30PM reservation the kitchen was closed die to the dishwasher was "broken ". We had a drink and left.
Excellent drinks, good food and friendly service. Every item served at this restaurant has a unique flavor or method to it. Nothing is routine, so it's an adventure. For example, I had a shrimp hotdog with kim chee topping and french fries. We went on a night when there was a rock concert at Fenway, so they had a limited menu. Four people $240 included 2 appetizers, 5 cocktails, 1 sake cup, 4 entrees, 20% tip.
We love hojoko. We’ve never had a bad meal here. This experience was fine but our sever seemed overmatched. It took her over 15 minutes before she even greeted us and following table visits were hard to come by. In any setting, that’s a long time to wait. Other than that, the food was great! We will be back!
Been going to Hojoko for years, and hope to continue for years to come. Delish, strange, pop-culture-y, and unique.
Fun hip place, great food and drink. Did remind me of a Japanese club, great stuff. Convenient to Fenway
Awesome food & drinks!
Came here for the first time for dinner before a concert. The food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. We were a little cold as all the windows and doors were open and it was a chilly night, but it was still great. Will definitely be back.
Pre game meal before the Red Sox game.
Food was quite expensive for the quality. Likely better for drinks pre- or post-game.
The only thing we didn’t care for was speed that food came out. Our server did say it would come out as it was ready but sushi is something we like to enjoy over a period of time. It’s a culinary adventure! and the rapid fire service which made us feel rushed.
This is a very special place, and the food is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.
The atmosphere is great and the food and drinks are really fun! Love this place
What a vibe. Great food but presented in a way that made eating so fun. Our server was honestly the best ever. I wish I remembered his name.
Wonderful service. Upscale but casual. Excellent food. Looking forward to going back very soon.
Great atmosphere. Funky decor. Nice patio.
Very good food and diverse menu. Much to choose from even if you don’t go for the sushi/traditional.
Good drink menu.
Our server was knowledgeable and attentive.
It’s quite loud making conversation at times difficult so be aware.
Always a good time at Hojoko. Great place for night out with friends, date night and late night grub.
A cool, contemporary izakaya with Japanese classics and americana staples with a twist.
I've given hojoko a few chances, mainly because I used to go before it got really popular. The bigger bouncer at the door let's girls in who he knows and lets them cut the line. He doesn't check their ID's and they're definitely underage. He told me to get to the back of the line even though I was trying to explain that I had a dinner reservation. Then after he kept telling at me and telling me I wasn't special, the other bouncer came over because I told her about the reservation too and so we were let inside, late for our friends birthday dinner. We got no apology and the bouncer kept letting girls cut. They had also told us we weren't on the list, but then when we talked to the hostess she had no idea what list he had and why he wasn't confirming the reservation with them. This has happened multiple times since I went there and me and all my friends went from pro-hojoko to just being super dissapointed. We probably will never try to go there again.
The sushi and shasimi were excellent. We had food menus but a drink menu at the table would have been nice too. Thanks for a great experience. We will be back.
Great as usual. This is my spot for dinner or a quick bite. Open late night so I am typically here in the evenings. Not your standard hotel bar!
Always a good time at Hojoko. Music, food, service on point
We loved everything we ate and service was exceptional!
