Food was wonderful, beautiful atmosphere. Unfortunately we were there along with a large group of younger kids so the noise level was a bit much. Our server was a little less than attentive but friendly, he did forget to ring in a side. Overall great experience, we will definitely be back.
The food was excellent, with a knowledgeable helpful server. A little pricey but not horrible. We had a nice evening, BUT the experience was kind of ruined with music that was TOO LOUD! and a bit in our face. I asked two different people if they could turn it down a bit but no accommodation was made. This is a nice place and would be more classy if they would turn it down and soften it up a bit. The noise made conversation much less enjoyable and was just annoying. The food and drink was outstanding.
Hogshead is one of my fav places in KC. IT never disappoints. BEST burger ever & the sides are wonderful esp the jalapeño cheesy corn & Mac & cheese. YUM!! Will def be back!!!!
Great wait staff, expensive meal.
Great atmosphere. Friendly prompt service. Both of our entrees were great and the date appetizer was super.
V day w my oldest nephew and daughter. The poutine was amazing, as was the pretzel for our apps! Everything we ordered was great and our server was very patient and helpful w recommendations! We look forward to our next visit!
unique menu and great food
Delicious food, great drinks (bottomless mimosas!!!!), great wait service. Highly recommend for weekend brunch!
Food is not worth the price. We are happy to spend a pretty penny for delicious food but the food sadly was not worth the price. The poutine, however, was delicious! Our Mahi Mahi came out luke warm and barely had any seasoning on it. Our server was one of the most unfriendly servers I have come across. I have worked in the service industry for years and I don't think I have ever had such terrible service. I believe her names was Ashley? She barely came to our table and when she did it was not a pleasant experience. We love food and were only in town for one evening so it was disappointing. The atmosphere was wonderful though!
Went for Sunday AM brunch, and it was fine. Grits for both my wife and uncle were cold, but my standard breakfast was pretty good. The bacon was great, always is. My aunt was surprised they didn’t have any kind of warm tea (or any tea bags). Service was good.
Great food and great service! Loved it all
Hogsheads was great!! My father asked for tartar sauce and even though they did not have it, they made him some from scratch. Amazing service, great food and nice people!!
Creative menu and its well executed. Short rib and KC Strip amazing. Save room for the bread pudding (made w donuts). Almost worth putting on heart plaque. The IPA choices were small and mediocre. Please get Bells two hearted ale or boulevard double wide. Otherwise fabulous.
Busy restaurant week vibe but the food and atmosphere was great. Thoroughly enjoyed our plates!
My husband and I went out for dinner for restaurant week. We wanted to try something new that we hadn’t had before. We sat at the chef’s counter and loved seeing all the action. The chef interacted with us and explained the concept of the restaurant. We love that he sources from local artisans. The food was fabulous. I ordered the KC strip which was almost 2” thick and cut like a filet. Cooked perfectly, it melted in my mouth! We can’t wait to go back to try the Nashville chicken sandwich and pork chop!
The food was slow in coming out. The entree was cold, the soup wasn’t even warm.
We took the desert to go and it was cold. You would have thought they would have warmed it up a bit.
I’ll never eat here again.
Great food, our waiter Ryan was excellent. Highly recommend.
This was the first time for my wife and I to eat at Hogshead. What a treat! Great selection of beers and craft cocktails. We enjoyed the salmon, rum cake and bourbon pecan pie, ouch! We will be back.
First time, had lunch and able visit. Great Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. Would recommend it.
Good venue for a burger and drink. Staff is very attentive. They put bacon on everything (best bacon i have ever ate) good stuff
Pleasantly surprised with the many great Sunday brunch choices and the excellent Bloody Marys.
Four in our party split everything. We had poutine, shrimp and grits, smoked chicken drums, Medjool dates, and for dessert- doughnut bread pudding and foie gras Snickers. All were excellent. I have never had grits I liked before these-super tasty-without that bitter taste they can have. The sauces served with the chicken drums-honey mustard and Carolina bbq-complimented the smoky flavor of the chicken perfectly. The fact that they are frenched-the meat scraped down to the thick end-made them so much more enjoyable to eat. The doughnut bread pudding was excellent-not too mushy-and the peaches sprinkled in are a tasty extra.
The poutine, dates and Snickers are on our regular rotation when we eat here-all delicious!
Had a different but delicious BLT here for lunch once. Decided to try dinner here tonight and it was fantastic. The staff, ambiance, and food are all a little above what you expect. Daniel was our water but more of a "guide" to the Hogshead experience. He pretty much selected both my cocktails, the apps, dinner, and desert- none of which disappointed. So many more things to try on the menu, looking forward to the next visit.
We went for the New Years brunch. My husband had the chicken-n-waffles. It was ok it had a drizzle of syrup which he asked for more but he only had about 3 bites left by the time our waiter got it out. I got the egg white scramble it was tasty but it set to long and was below room temp by the time it reached our table.. Would have been better hot. The music was way to loud we could barely hear our waiter and each other talk. He was way to slow. But the bartender was amazing and she rocked our drinks ! We have been before and had better food.
Jan1, great brunch
I always have a great time at Hogshead! Steak is amazing for dinner and our server was a sweetheart!
Christmas Eve. It was busy but even then, the service was really slow. We never did get the beer that my husband ordered, but we just let that go. The dates as an appetizer was the star meal. The tomato sauce and the go cheese was delicious together. I didn’t care for the bread by itself but it was good with the dates And the sauce. I could’ve had a big bowl of that for my main meal :-) I had the burger which is award-winning, and it was good but the patty was very very thin. The thick sliced bacon was thicker than a hamburger patty. Seriously, not exaggerating. The cheddar cheese grits were OK, the jalapeño cheesy corn was very good, and the macaroni and cheese was good. They brought my husband the wrong entrée. But they let him keep both. The braised short rib was very tender, I didn’t care for the leaks that went with it and neither did my husband. The mahi-mahi was very good and so were the brussels sprouts. We had the bourbon a con pie which was good but I don’t think the crust was homemade. And the donut bread pudding was very different and very sweet but my husband liked it. I thought the place was overpriced. It’s very small so I would always use reservations
Tried this restaurant on Christmas Eve & it didn’t disappoint. Beer selection was great, food was amazing, & staff was nice. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because they were short staffed & we had to wait a while for items. Will definitely go back!
Greeted as soon as I walked in and was escorted to the table where my family was seated. We loved the poutine fries and the Cuban sandwich. The Benedict and the rum cake were also very good. It loud, although I enjoyed the music. The service was very good, thanks Zander!
Overall, it was a good experience, but the music was to loud.
We can’t stop thanking about this place! We had so much fun, and the food was outstanding!
Went to Hogshead to celebrate Christmas. It was not busy when we got there, we were seated quickly and ordered off the happy hour menu. Our drinks arrived quickly- the sparkling wine was delicious! However, our food took forever! We ordered the pretzel, hamburger and fries, and the dates. The pretzel and hamburger were both disappointing, but the French fries and dates were both good! I was hoping for higher quality food and faster service.
First time visit. Sat at chef’s table. Fun and lively. Chef was terrific and so was service. Highly recommend chorizo stuffed dates.
Met some friends there for lunch and drinks. It was a cold day and I don't think they wanted to heat the place any but in all honesty if there had been more than a hand full of people there it would have been warmer. The drinks were expensive and the food fair but nothing too exciting. It was my second time there and I think I have had enough.
Our reservation was for 6:15. We arrived on time but there was no available table. We sat in the bar area and waited 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. We waited another 10 for our wine, and another 10 for our table, and another 20 before our waitress came! However, once our waitress took our order, she was very attentive.
The food was amazing. I had shrimp and grits. The shrimp was large and very tasty and the grits were extremely smooth and very flavorful. My daughter had a filet and said it was one of the best ever! We shared Brussels sprouts and they were wonderful. The only negative was bourbon pecan pie, which was okay—it would have been better had it been warmed.
The ambiance is good and the decor is very tasteful. We will go back.
I plan to have every item on the menu at some point!
really good home-made food. best bacon in the universe.
Went for brunch!!! My wife had the veggie hash. The sweet potatoes and vegetables were so fresh!!! Excellent Sunday morning stop!!!
A little on the pricey side but the food was great and its a beautiful restaurant
