The food was subpar and slightly over priced, but the drinks were fire 🔥
Found this place on Yelp by searching for oysters. Nice oysters - we had the painted ladies and the bbq oysters. They had a nice whiskey list with nice cocktails. All food was delicious. Beets and Cauliflower steak. Very tasty. Service was attentive.
Hog & Rocks has been one of my favorite spots since I moved here. It's one of the friendliest places in the city. I'll be devastated when it closes
Awesome happy hour, and the staff made us feel very welcome! Great place, highly recommended
We wanted a local place to meet up on a quiet Monday for a little date night, Hog and Rocks did not disappoint. The oysters were fresh and flavorful. The tartar was my favorite, I could not get enough of it. The staff was friendly and helpful.
All in all I'd head back there any day of the week.
Food is good, but, oh man, service is poor. Maybe lack of training for the waitstaff which reflects poor management.
A major part of the dining experience is being served on properly. If I was at home, I would just get up from table and take my finished dishes to the sink, grab a serving spoon from the drawer, but at a restaurant this would be kind of awkward. Just as getting up to pour yourself a glass of water or wine.
Restaurant needs to improve service.
It was nice. Good burger good friends. They ran out of dollar oysters but life finds a way to go on.
Not very much a solo friendly environment. Food and drinks are good.
$1 oysters for happy hour! Great service and food. We had a party of 6 and felt very well taken care of.
$1 oysters - how can you go wrong? Great food, great service.
Everyone in my party of 7 enjoyed the food and the service was excellent.
The food was delicious so much so that it surprised me. The drinks were all creative and balanced, very well done. The waitress was kind and attentive. The only sad part of the evening was that we got there on time for our reservation and then had to wait half an hour for our table. After waiting that long for our table the kitchen forgot about us for the second course and it took twenty minutes for them to send out four oysters in a half empty house.
Great service. Pretty decor. Construction upstairs was kind of distraction. Lots of loud sounds above. The deviled eggs were the STAR of this meal. We got great whiskey recommendations and had two old fashions and one on the rocks. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The charcuterie plate was awesome. Our favorite was the one with the onion jam. We also got to try the chocolate bread pudding even though they stopped serving after brunch they still let us order it. All in all, will be back again. Deviled eggs!!!!
We went for the SF Restaurant week 3 course dinner and it was delicious. Each course paired with a bourbon cocktail that was well matched with the flavors.
We sat at the bar and the bartender and all staff people were friendly and efficient. Great spot that we would go back to.
Food and drinks are awesome
SF restaurant week - great service. Amazing food
Other than a dark & stormy that was made with light rum (and tasted odd), the meal and drinks were as great as they always are. The prices are a bit high, but quality is always top notch.
Post Theater informal Dining in Mission District. We went to the Roxie which is about five blocks away for dinner post-movie. Had reservations for 7pm, which was a good idea as it fills up rapidly after 7:20pm or so. Had their pig sampler (When Pigs Fly) which consists of proscuitto and serrano ham with warm flatbread. Split one of their fried chicken sandwiches - we're not 18 anymore so that was sufficient. Wound up taking half the pig sampler home. Forget the icebox cake - should be not rock-hard but somewhat closer to cool room temp, at least that's how I remember it from my childhood.
Service is friendly and good. Room can get VERY noisy during dinner hours. Definitely a young crowd and on the hip side, but us older folks are still welcome. Parking is terrible, so give yourself extra time. We came to a 5:15 movie showing so finding parking was much easier and then we just walked to theater and back to Hog 'n Rocks.
If you go early they have inexpensive oysters which are an excellent deal.
GREAT SPOT FOR TASTY MENU SPECIALTIES AND COCKTAILS!
We had a delicious dinner: the all ham "When Pigs Fly", the bone marrow and the Berkshire pork chop were yummy!! We'll be back soon.
Went there for the first time for dinner, happened to stumble upon a reservation for 4 on the spot at 8:45, came right in and sat down, no waiting. The food and service were fantastic. It was a dream. Also shoutout to their delicious Pimm’s Cup with the homemade ginger syrup.
Excellent salads, especially coleslaw, butter lettuce, and beets. Fries are terrific and a huge order. Had the ham flight. Prefer the ham from Spain over others. Reasonable prices for happy hour. Good service, a bit noisy. Only problem, hostess marked us as no show and we have not received OpenTable points.
If you like ham, this is the place for you. Menu is limited but nice and some unusual selections.
Awesome and our server was amazing, laughed at all my stupid jokes!
Everything was fine but the service was terrible.
Too bad I don't live closer, I'd be there every weekend. The food is good, the waitstaff amazing, and the bartenders are friendly and good at what they do.
We’ve been to H&R many times, however this time we felt that we were being rushed even though the restaurant was quite empty. The quality of food has declined.
Great food, ambiance, price and location. The service was great but the food took a while to get out, even when it was a slow night. Other than that, great restaurant.
Came here for brunch with a friend. The cocktails were delicious (especially the Bloody Mary!)
The food, however, missed the mark. I ordered the duck hash, and at $19 I expected a bit more flavor. Small servings for the price. Good meal concepts, but delivery just wasn’t there for me.
Cute Restaurant..The service was excellent with everyone very friendly. We had a salad that we shared with a group of us and everyone agreed it was salty. We sent it back and they were very nice and offered to replace/change the order. The salad came out again and it was perfect.
We were lucky that they had $1.00/oysters on Sunday brunch. Very noisy but overall a nice place to meet friends.
Went for brunch and initial service was lovely. We felt a bit forgotten amidst two loud tables and it took awhile (15 to 20 minutes) to order drinks as well as order food. Once champagne and oysters arrived, it felt like a lovely, lively brunch scene.
Went there for my birthday and the food was absolutely delicious. Cocktails were yummy and service was great.
Great selection of food/drink during happy hour. The small bites/appetizers were so good, didn't bother getting an entrée!
Ham flights aren't something I've seen before and we were not let down, all very very good. The oyster selection was great and they were all very very tasty; I'd love to come back for the brunch specials. Cocktails were great, all the food was great (I could go into detail but just go try it for yourself). Service was great without being stuffy. One comment is that the restaurant was VERY warm and humid inside--I understand it's the Bay Area and climate control is not always priority (especially in older buildings) but it was uncomfortable in here and the restaurant was far less than half full.
Good food for the area. The oysters can run a little expensive and sub-par in quality for what they offer. But the rest is rather well done for the price.
Chris the bartender was fantastic. Tremendous cocktails served and excellence knowledge of the menu and made great suggestions for food choices.
We really enjoyed our brunch. Pork katsu, chicken and biscuit, French toast were wonderful with great flavors.
Excellent service and food at this neighborhood gem!
