HAD A RESERVATION AT 5 FOR SURPRISE. TABLE WAS NOT READY. WE WAITED 20 MINUTES TO GET SEATED. I AM A HANDICAPPED PERSON. ACTED LIKE THEY HAD NO IDEA WE WERE COMING. SEATED PEOPLE BEHIND US. SAT US AT A TABLE UNDER A LEAKING CEILING. SO DISGUSTING LANDING ON THE TABLE OUR HAIR AND CLOTHES. FOOD ORDER WAS WRONG. ORDERED SALADS IN LIEU OF FRENCH FRIES. NEVER GOT THE SALADS BUT GOT THE FRENCH FRIES. FOOD WAS COLD. BAD WAITRESS. RUINED THE SURPRISE FOR MY FRIEND. TERRIBLE.
Made reservations 2.5 weeks before the day of reservations. We showed up and they told us they don’t do reservations on event day (there was a concert). Luckily management stepped in and took care of us. It was insanely busy, so service was slow (our drinks and food arrived at the same time) but the food was good.
We made a 5:30 reservation because we were attending an 8:00 show at City Theatre. Upon arriving, Hockeytown knew nothing about our reservation so we had to wait while they put an area together for us. The service was then incredibly slow. They were out of multiple menu items that people tried to order - Octoberfest beer, meatloaf, and burnt tips. We didn't receive food to our table until 7:00, an hour and a half after our reservation time. One of the people in our group spoke to a manager, inquiring as to when we'd get our food. He came to the table and acted as if he could care less. He said that Hockeytown isn't using OpenTable anymore, and that I should have received an email to tell me (instead I received an email confirmation). When we told him we had been there an hour and a half and still didn't have our food, he told us that they have hundreds of customers, as if that was a valid excuse. My husband and I had ordered a pizza and asked for a little extra sauce but our pizza came with virtually no sauce (if there was sauce on it at all, I couldn't see it or taste it). Since the bad service already was making us late for getting seats to our show, we didn't bother asking for it to be fixed. We used to really enjoy Hockeytown. Now, we don't plan to ever return.
Good food, but menu is small. Probably will go again.
Service HORRIBLE. We booked a reservation for 5:45pm and they did not take us in until over an hour later. We came all the way from Toronto to watch the Penguins play and was almost late for the game since we were waiting so long for a table. The manager did not seem sympathetic either for making us wait and neither did the staff. The place is under staffed and we were delayed even longer for our drinks.
The atmosphere is nice but I would not return here.
we have recommended but our last experience was a disaster! Be prepared if you book 2 days in advance not last minute to wait up to 45 minutes to be seated! One manager stated he had reserved seats waiting up to an hour and no hostess had used those tables yet. People seated without reservation before those with!
Reservation does it guarantee a seat I guess. So much confusion. Clearly the hostess desk needs help!!
This practice has had us rushing through dinner so we could make Red Wing puck drop!!
Management needs to make this flow better . Maybe a separate line for reservation’s so they can be seated first. Tell customers without reservation they will be seated up to 1-2 hours later . Make for a better experience for everyone!
We were seated approximately 25 minutes after our reservation time, 40 minutes after we checked in. The service was fast once we were seated and the prices were very reasonable.
Game day so super busy. You can reserve on open table but wait staff seemed shocked that they allowed reservations on game day. Were seated relatively promptly and service was good. Food was about what one would expect. This is somewhere you go for atmosphere and convenience (close to stadiums). Wait team friendly
Bachelor party. Took 35 mins to get the bill. Brutal
We had a reservation. Was seated promptly. The place was packed before Red Wings game. Food came in a timely manner. Service was good . Food was tasty and hot. The server made a mistake and gave me a side of fries when I ordered onion rings. She quickly corrected the error and let me keep the fries. Both the rings and fries were excellent and hot the spot. The BBQ Smokehouse burger was very good.
We went for our anniversary, the menu was limited, the floor was sticky, the table was wobbly. I think we paid $10 to $12 for a petite wedge salad no dressing. My husband ordered the Asian salad and we were told they were out.
We arrived about 15 minutes before our scheduled reservation to a long line at the hostess stand. There was only one hostess on a night with a hockey game at LCA, a concert at the Fox and a play at the City Theater. The hostess continued to leave the stand to seat people without any back-up. After about 10 minutes an additional hostess came to assist. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the hostess stand where we were told to wait until the original hostess returned so she could seat us. We stood next to a high top table that had remained uncleared our entire time in line. We were finally seated 40 minutes after our arrival. Our waitress came by quickly and we immediately ordered. When the food arrived, the pork in my pulled pork sandwich was burnt on the sides. Because of our time crunch, I ate around it. During our dinner there were no less than 5 tables around us that were never cleared. Hockeytown Cafe appeared to be severely unstaffed and there was no management in sight.
The drinks were very weak, Server was nice but it took a long time to get drink refills-bar was backed up
Food was just OK
Pre concert dinner/drinks. Convenient location near LCA. We were late & hostess was super accommodating. Service was excellent, food delicious! All around great place!
