Service was very slow and really not very friendly either!
A great place for lunch. Good selection of dishes, all at reasonable prices.
Food lovely we did ask to move as there was a table of lads but they weren’t overly loud or rude it’s just we wanted it a tad quieter. Staff happily obliged
We had the roast beef which was amazing. Highly recommend this place for a Sunday roast
Sunday lunch at Hixon Green is really good. The chef uses herbs and I really like eating vegetables al dente. Quite often vegetables can be over cooked, but that is never the case here.
My friend ordered Eton Mess, which she found disappointing. I had brownie and ice cream, which was fair, as the brownie was a little dry. However, my other friend had fruit crumble which she said was excellent.
We are all so sorry you have to close during lockdown.
From entering the tiles around the bar were very grubby & all the floors look like they haven’t been cleaned in a long while.
It took 50 mins for our brunch order for 3 people to arrive. Not an easy wait with a 2 yo to entertain.
The staff were very pleasant though but not sure I would feel the need to go back in a hurry unfortunately.

The food was lovely, the down side was how long we had to wait for service when there seemed to be plenty of staff for the amount of customers. Also staff wearing masks over their mouths but not their nose was a concern for me.
Overall the service was good. Improvements could be slightly more prompt on service ie cutlery had be asked for for second course. Came to collect starters and 1 person was still eating. At the start of orders 1 of the group ordered a dessert which was just duly brought out after the main courses. A waiter returning checking if there were any more desserts required would of been appreciated- I would of had a dessert but not when 1 member of the group has been served already.
Beautiful interiors, great food menu.
Unfortunately in our visit, we didn’t experience a great service level. There were only 3/4 other tables so it was very quiet. The staff didn’t seem very motivated or engaged in providing a good level of service - very low energy. One dish was forgotten so one of our group had to wait while we ate our food - two sides were also not made and we had to ask for them.
I would visit again and hope for a better experience because the place itself is lovely and the food was great.
It was really lacking in welcoming and friendly service.
On another note, I would like to point out how dangerous it is to serve hot food and drinks when there is a baby in a highchair. On all occasions when food and drink was brought to the table the staff member leant over our baby with hot items - we had to move the highchair out of the way. Instead, staff should be trained to give to the adults directly and avoid going over the head of a baby sitting at the end of the table. If an accident should occur due to carelessness like this it would be awful. It’s much easier and safer to give food and drink to the person directly at their seat. Please consider this!
We enjoyed a really lovely breakfast here. The food was delicious and we will definitely return.

Our entertainment for the evening was the rain gushing through the ceiling - we hope it didn’t cause too much damage - not HGs fault

The food was excellent , as was my wine and we very much enjoyed it. However we found that the service got slower and slower as the meal went on, such that we got concerned about our parking ticket - an anxious end to an otherwise excellent experience.
Good welcome; chose table; temperatures taken and covid safety in mind. Food very good - quite a lot of rocket! Very pleasant staff. Went with grand-daughters and they were impressed as well.
We use our local Hixon Green frequently. Food consistently good. Service always friendly and prompt. Comfy seats :-)
Mid afternoon meal and the ambience was fine, food was good value and we were able to access a drink offer which was great. The staff were lovely and we also felt that we were perfectly safe and all protocols were adhered to.

Food and service very good and quite good value. However the wine was very over priced in comparison with limited choice
We went to Hixton green for my birthday yesterday. We had to prompt the waiter several times for basic things.
Late to take our order.
Drinks took a very long time.
We had to ask several times for cutlery after the food was hot on the table.
Overall I was disappointed with the service.
Couldn't fault staff. Very cheerful and attentive. Waiter apologised for limited Vegan menu.
My carnivore friend had a veggie main and loved it (pasta).
Vegan options extremely limited (2). Vegan burger was okay. Not sure the bun wasn't brioche, although I was told it wasn't so apologies if incorrect. Brioche is not Vegan.
Side salad of lettuce, cucumber and tomato, not exactly adventurous. NO VEGAN DESSERT OPTION!! NOT EVEN A SORBET!!
So to summarise a nice place to go if you are a meat eater or vegetarian. Don't bother if you are Vegan. I could prep what I had at home which isn't really the point of dining out.

The server didn’t cover his nose with the mask... what’s the point in wearing one if you can’t use it properly.
Food was nice although not much of a choice in the middle of Brunch service. It was very much ‘these items or nothing’ even though we were there into the lunch menu cross over.
Won’t hurry back any time soon especially if there is no Track & Trace which should make the customer feel safer.
We had lunch, dinner and breakfast the next day- everything was delicious and service safe secure and polite
A really lovely meal out with a special feeling, beautiful restaurant covid well worked around food was delicious my only comment on that was I'd say portions could be a little bigger. We shared a med board and 2 light bites but the light bites weren't much more than a mouthful each. Maybe we should've ordered 1 more!

Espresso coffee was puddle in a regular teacup with no creme.
The staff did not encourage diners who were unaware of the recent guidelines of wearing face covering when not at tables. Nor did the staff point out the track and trace and hand sanitiser.
Would not visit again as I would question if this venue is Covid secure and aware of the current regulations.
Other venues I have visited in Lewes seem to have a better understanding of the Covid situation.
I noticed the food was left under the lamps for longer than necessary, as I was sitting near and looking directly at the counter. Which was a shame as the eggs were rather over cooked and I presume due to this.

Excellent signage, social distancing as so few other diners. Which is a shame as the food was delicious. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend to others.

Great food and service in a venue that tries a bit too hard to be cool
When we arrived it was very quiet for a Saturday night but Lewes seemed to be quiet all round. I was very impressed with the detail to social distancing with tables either side of us out of use.
When we ordered our drinks they had run out of sauvignon but the picpoul de pinet was an excellent replacement, my husband ordered the pate but again they had run out of pate so he had to choose something else, when the starters arrived they were laid down and before I had a chance to tell the waiter we had nothing to eat it with he had disappeared out of ear shot, so we had to wait for someone to arrive with cutlery. Overall apart from a few hiccups the food was very good and the service was also very good. I would go back but maybe try breakfast or lunch next time.
Great food, very good service, very good interior design. Certainly deserve to do well through this tricky period.
Chicken burger was raw and staff didn’t seemed too concerned. No direct apology from chef. Will not be going again.

The food is very good, but I was surprised about the lack of social distancing measures. Sure, there is a one one system and the tables are well spaced but the serving staff seem to approach closer than is necessary without masks. What particularly bugged me was a member of staff standing right next me so he could carefully lie the knife and fork on the serviette.
We were taking advantage of the "Eat out to Help out" that HG were doing in September.
Really friendly staff. We had a starter (squid) which was very nice.
Then my friend who is a gluten intolerant vegan struggled to find anything on the menu. We were able to choose something off the 12-4 menu, which I thought was very good. However, there were no gluten free options for a salad dressing. We would have liked even just some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Staff were apologetic, so this is not really a complaint, more of a suggestion.
