Here, on the Central Coast of California, BBQ has always meant grilling over an open fire of red oak, a style of cooking that is native to our area and goes back to the days of the Spanish Rancheros. By combining the old and the new, we have created an exciting cuisine with outstanding steaks, ribs and chicken, along with fresh fish and seafood and vegetarian options. We also create our own (world class) wines for sale in the restaurant and to the public. Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Wines have garnered an excellent reputation. Try them here or purchase on our website for your enjoyment at home.

Now featuring Hitching Post Burgers in the HP Sidebar Mondays - Wednesdays! Oak-grilled 1/2 pound ground sirloin on homemade cheese bun with our famous french fries for just $12.

The absolute best steaks on the planet. The Rib Eye, OMG you can't even imagine and even the Halibut, devine! I can't say enough as to how awesome the food is here! From the grilled artichoke appetizer to the Hitching Post Pinot's to the Salsa, garlic bread. I could go on and on, so yummy. Going to go back soon.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time! We arrived about half hour early and they accommodated us right away. Our server, Robin was amazing. She spent time with us but was constantly on the move making sure everyone was happy with everything they ordered. She was efficient and attentive. Food was just great! We can’t wait to get back for another meal!

Used "Open Table" to reserve time, which simplified the process. Staff was friendly & helpful. Full bar options for cocktails, as well as local wine selections. The relish dish provided before the leak, brought back good memories from my youth, when most steak houses did that. Menu selections were plentiful for any desired meal, as were the portions, and food was savory and cooked perfectly. Will recommend to friends and plan to return soon....and will try something different.

Entire experience was poor despite good service. Food was mediocre at best, wine was okay, ambiance was okay. We won’t be going back

This was our first visit to Hitching Post 2. We were extremely happy with the service and our appetizer of grilled artichokes ( very yummy) and their signature filet mignon, both cooked over an oak wood flame grill! Fantastic!
Kristin was our server and she was very attentive and professional.

Will definitely come back when we are in town again!

Six of us, family, enjoyed our evening at the Hitching Post. The food, service and atmosphere are great! One in our party had salmon and one swordfish; but, I recommend any of the steaks...after all, it is pretty much a steak house! A little noisy on a busy night; but, very enjoyable evening and dinners.

I don't recall our waitress's name, but she was wonderful and very attentive.

We went with a baby and she was very accommodating and helpful.

I wanted to make sure she got complimented for the great service.

We go to HP2 every year and it's always been a great experience.

If pinot noir and steaks are your thing, it doesn’t come any better than this. The atmosphere is welcoming, the artichoke appetizer is outstanding and the steaks are flavorful and well prepared. Non-steak options abound if that is what you’re looking for. For wines, they specialize in Central California Pinot noirs and their wine list is extensive, earning their Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, but they do have others. Highly recommend their restaurant!

This was for my wife. Took her on the Sideways tour. Stayed at the Sideways Inn. Drank at the Sideways Lounge and dinner at the Hitching Post ll. Still looking for the restaurant in Los Olivos they used for filming! Great weekend getaway. Great service and food at the Hitching Post. Make sure you make a reservation. The bar also has a wait list. Busy place!!

It's the same for then last 20 years, and that's probably the problem. Now its sorta cheesy with most of the competition offering a better experience and better food. The loud, crowded dining rooms are a growing put-off. The tourist trade keeps it going.

Ambiance was nice. We arrived 10 minutes early and was seated early. The hostess and our waitress and assistance were friendly and courteous making sure we received the best service not just us but the other guests seated around us. The food was delicious, seasoned well and we enjoyed every bite. Awesome and great place. We would definitely come there again. Thank you and God Blesx.

Food was amazing and service was great... was very bummed "Burger Night" is only in the very crowded and much louder bar area. But solidly delicious... Duck, Ribs, Steak, and Artichoke all deserve mention... don't skip the wine!
