It was very good and great to bring a toddler. They mixed up our order a bit, but recovered quickly. Servers are very helpful, friendly and the Pinot's are all great!

Hitching Post always delivers. They are making the best of a bad situation having erected a tent for outdoor dining services. Staff is always attentive and friendly. Food never disappoints.

Second review in two weeks. Simply stated, spectacular steak, perfect pinot (Highliner), and tented tastiness all around. Valiant attempts to create outdoor ambiance, almost succeed. But who cares. Fantastic flavors win every time. Be warned, it's a tad pricey for those marbled Angus cowboy cuts.

Absolutely love dining at Hitching Post. We dined under the outdoor tent which we’ve now done for the second time. Staff is super friendly, service was outstanding and the food arrived hot and delicious. And, wine is superb. Also, we appreciate the addition of the new modern restrooms right next to the tent. Very convenient.

One of our favorite places to dine when in the beautiful Buelton/Solvang area. Plan to return again soon!

When you have to get up to ask for condiments because no one comes to your table AND you don't get a single glass of wine until 3/4 through the meal after having to ask two additional times, even though you ordered it with your food... not a good look. Also it's freezing out there so dress accordingly. I hope the lucky folks who had the pleasure of private tables with heaters paid more than the people stuck inside the freezing tent. Food was great, that's about it.

Great at what they're known for - spectacular 23# double bone-in ribeye. Grilled to perfection and medium rare is, truly, medium rare. Ambience score is only because of COVID outdoor rules, but they have done a great job at making tent dining somewhat delightful, if not distanced. Fantastic Pinot Noir to go with steak!! Gotta go back as soon as possible.

Hitching Post does a great job! Food and staff are terrific. Steaks, ribs and hamburgers are so good, grilled over red oak, great garlic bread and relish tray. Appetizers are good as well especially grilled artichoke. We are not local, but are regulars! !

I was very disappointed in our visit. The food was way over priced for the quality. I ordered the 5oz filet, my husband the 8oz and our friends ordered rib eyes all requested to be prepared medium. All steaks were served med-rare at best. Our server only check on us once as her attention was focused on larger party. I was expecting a higher quality of food and service for the price, sadly it wasn’t delivered. This is very very first review of a restaurant, I sincerely wished I could have rated my experience five stars, unfortunately that just wasn’t the case.

Took my Dad to dinner. Outside in an open sided tent. They had limited indoor seating but we chose outside due to Covid. Everything else was as excellent as always. The food and wine never disappoint. It got a little cool outside as the evening got late but nothing extreme.

My husband and I went the the Hitching Post II for his birthday. It was our first time. We managed to get a cancelled reservation as they were very booked up. We were immediately impressed with the huge outdoor tent they set up. It was a bit cool as the heaters were outside the tent but we were comfortable. There was ample distance between tables which was very comforting.

The server was pleasant and attentive. We received our food and drinks in a reasonable amount of time. The vegetable beef soup was excellent. I had the baby back ribs. They were served without any sauce but were tender and extremely tasty with their seasoning. My husband had the New York steak medium well. He said it was tasteless and tough as well as very pink on the inside. He wouldn’t order that again. Next time he’d spring for the ribeye. And I would order the ribs again.

The server brought a nice complimentary dessert for his birthday. All in all, it was a nice evening.

Went to celebrate my Girlfriends BDay

For an expensive steakhouse , was disappointed in the little scoop of whip cream with a candle to acknowledge her BDay

You would think a scoop of ice cream would have been far better

My wife ordered a small filet, medium rare. When it arrived, it was medium well to well done. We sent it back. When the replacement arrived it was very very rare. Cold in the middle, not cool, but cold. That offered to send it back for additional cooking, but by then everything else was cold. Never again.

Actually we were underwhelmed by this restaurant. After all the hype of being in the movie the food was just average in our opinion. We did have a good Cabernet from brave and maiden that we would tell anyone to get.

We came here on a Sunday, we had a reservation at 5 pm. We got there a little early and decided to sit at the bar rather than a table. Although things have changed since the pandemic, the food was amazing as ever and the bartender aka our server was great! Made me a little sad to see that a lot of the tables inside are now outside in the tent. But, overall it was a great visit! I will continue to come every year as I have been for a long time now! Xo

The Hitching Post is my favorite restaurant in the whole Santa Ynez Valley. It never fails for the best Quality food and Great quality service. As Long as the Hitching Post exists, ill exist as a loyal customer. Plus Genevieve a waitress there is a total babe. Having her wait on me was like having 2 deserts for the price of one. I mean she was Super 🔥 HOT! and so nice! The best service from her. And Shes Super HOT! did I say that already? Anyways great time!

This place is so consistently good, we plan trips around stopping here. Their meat is perfectly prepared every single time. No frills sides, don't waste your time with their apps. Go for the meat and fish and don't forget the cheesecake at the end of the meal.

We sat outside under a beautiful tree and a large moon. At the time we selected a table we didn't realize it was so close to the bathrooms. Food, service and wine selection were all good. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our request. We have enjoyed the Hitching Post for year's and this meal was wonderful too.

Keeping in mind that the restaurant has been forced to serve 'outdoors only' and doing that by putting everyone under a large tent, we thought they did a fantastic job of minimizing the inconvenience to their customers. Everything else about the dining experience was most enjoyable. Our server conversed with us about the wine country and the wine selections. We had a bottle of 2012 Bordeaux blend that was epic and went so well with our filet mignon. The salad greens were fresh, the baked potato as good as Idaho, and the dessert of chocolate decadence the perfect finish. Can't wait to return when we can be inside, but would not hesitate to recommend this legendary venue at any time.
