This steak has been our house specialty since 1986. The rarest & most sought after cut. Prized for its fork cutting tenderness, its flavor is enhanced by our oak fired grill
A house specialty and our most popular appetizer. Steamed then grilled for a unique smoke flavor, seasoned with our own Magic Dust and served with a spicy smoked tomato mayonnaise
with blue cheese crumbles
Very nice restaurant and staff.
Wasn't aware we'd be dining at such a price in a parking lot. Wait staff was inattentive and the food was just so so compared to previous visits.
Excellent quality meat and expert preparation! Will come back again.
The rib-eye was not up to what it normally is. It was tender, juicy but not seasond well . The garlic bread had no garlic. Sorry to see the shrimp cocktail was not on the menu. We normal come 2-3times a year. I think we will go to hitching post 1 the next time.
You cannot find smoked meats anywhere else like you get here! Tonight we ordered ribs, duck breast and filet mignon. We are three happy diners! Always excellent in a warm, casual environment. Even in Covid times.
Overpriced!! Ribeye steak and seasoned mushrooms were delicious but rest of meal mediocre at best. Garlic bread somewhat soggy. Salad tasteless. Creme brûlée very nice.
Interior of restaurant dark and needs updating even while maintaining the theme of the restaurant.
Would not rebook!
This place is never disappointing! It ranks as one of my tops in regards to steakhouses. I just wished I lived closer to Beulton!
Always have enjoyed our meal and service but last night was a disappointment. It felt like we were at a coffee shop with below average service from our waitress and freezing at our table in the tent area. Our relish tray had some old carrots. Our garlic appetizer was tasty as it has been in the past. Our salad was served on a bread plate so it was difficult to even keep the lettuce and the croutons on the plate. Our filet was so charcoaled it made the experience with the filets all we could taste.
This was our anniversary and wish we had made reservations elsewhere. We were in and out in about an hour.
Was really looking forward to enjoying a special dinner to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We added in the reservation that it was our anniversary but no one in the restaurant ever acknowledged or asked. Service was really disappointing in that we had a tiny table and was very noisy due to large groups. Wait staff was not as attentive as we would have liked. The food was excellent, as well as the House Red wine that we ordered. Would not recommend eating here if you are looking for a romantic spot, best for groups of people.
Disappointed with the food . The quail was dry but the rice pilaf was good.
Food was excellent. Service was impeccable, our server was very accommodating. Was surprised with a Birthday dessert ( Might have put birthdate on Open Table. Husband said he knew nothing about it
Amazing as always.... Celebrated my husband’s birthday and he was truly satisfied... This is our “go to spot” when wine tasting in the Santa Ynez valley!!!
Honestly the best steak I've ever had. It was very tender and cooked perfectly, rare on the inside with a nice crust on the outside. The rest of the meal was great too, I especially loved the salad and garlic bread. We came here because of the movie Sideways, so had no idea how the food would be and were very happy! Our waitress and the rest of the staff were really friendly. The decor is tacky but doesn't take away from the ambiance, and its a steakhouse near Solvang, so thats to be expected. Also $8 martinis! We will go out of our way to come back to the Hitching Post II.
I made this reservation for my nephew and his significant, they had never been to the Hitching Post. It was magnificent !! they said. The meal was cooked to perfection
Thank you Hitching Post for giving my family a wonderful dinner
It was perfect
Great experience. We were worried when we checked in because there were a lot of people waiting for tables. But after a short delay, we were seated at a nice table indoors as we had specified on the open table reservation. Steaks were cooked to our liking. We also had the pork chop which was savory. Two desserts, both excellent. All in all a great evening at a classic!
Did not care for the cocktail (Old Fashion) we had.
It had a maraschino cherry large slice of orange and taste watered down.
The meal we had was excellent!!
Great steak, wine, server Gina, not super busy and clean.
Morgan was a wonderful server!
Service was terrific, staff very accommodating & outdoor space was adequate with nice tent, but it was very cold & breezy without sufficient heaters to provide enough warmth.
Please bring back the cracker basket and include the soup. Stop using Covid as an excuse for everything.
First time there! Great food! Great service! Definitely come back...
No shrimp cocktails. Big tent with no ambiance. Prices rise, rise, rise and portions shrink. Not a fun experience.
Covid tent was COLD-bring a warmer coat than you think you need! Parking lot decorated as best they could, appreciated the safety precautions.
Great food, great service..decor could use updating..especially the restroom
I always love and enjoy their food and this time was no exception. Filet, filet, filet! Yummmm😁
Always excellent service and very well spaced out inside and lovely outside patio area.
Server was not very friendly at the beginning. Very dry. Didn't explain the menu very well.
Steaks are cooked to perfection! Always a pleasure dining here.
We came here for our anniversary dinner. Steak was so delicious, I highly recommend. The place is very close to Solvang.
The service was outstanding! The food was not up to our expectations.
The Hitching Post II is always a treat when we are in the area.
The food and the service are great.
We chose to eat inside this time. They have the tables spaced for proper occupancy.
There is a big tent with outdoor heated dining available as well.
We returned to the Hitching Post II on Friday and were due to sit outside in the outside tent, but I took a chance to go inside and have a glass of wine while we waited for our table. The best move I could have made. I was pleased to find out that our party of four could enjoy dinner at the bar and it was a truly enjoyable experience! The bartenders Art and Bart (I hope I got their names right) were great servers, hosts and ambassadors for the Hitching Post.
We had a great meal (as always), great Pinot Noir (as always) and a great time (also as always). If you ever want to feel welcomed, appreciated and well taken care of and COVID safe, just belly up to the bar, grab a chair and have a fun evening. It was a wonderful way to bring an end to a terrific day of wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Cheers to the Hitching Post and to their great team of bartenders/servers!
The tent structure in the parking lot was set up nicely. It was clean and all the tables were distanced properly. The food was fantastic as usual and the staff was great. It was terribly windy so the chill in the tent was a little overwhelming, even with the heaters.
Food was great and service was good, nothing great.
We were celebrating our anniversary and had not been to The Hitching post since before covid. They have set up a large tent for “indoor” dining. We were sat quickly and greeted by our lovely waitress. She was attentive and steered us in the right direction drink wise. We chose a bottle of Marjoram Rose. Just what was needed. Crisp, delicious not too dry. After listening to the specials and figuring we could split the 2lb bone in rib-eye at a bargain price and have enough for leftovers the next day we went for it. The meal came with soup or salad. We Decided on the salad w/bleu cheese dressing. Grilled garlic bread and baked Potato with everything please. The sides were enough to share. Holy cow 🤣 The steak! Omg! grilled crispy on the outside and a perfect tender Med rare on the inside. Full of Smokey flavor it was the Best steak we’ve ever had! We finished off this amazing meal with a rich chocolate cake vanilla ice cream on the side. Delivered with a candle for our special night. It was so moist, tender and just enough chocolate frosting. A wonderful way to celebrate our 44th. Thanks Hitching post!
loved it and our server was so sweet and helpful. we'll be back again!
Freezing in the tent. It wasn’t until we were leaving that they began to turn on heaters despite wind and cold drafts (evidenced by servers and guests wearing parkas). I had a sweater and jacket and was still cold. I realize this is hard on everyone and I’m pleased they’re open but I’ve had many other outdoor experiences at less expensive places that were handled far, far better.
The Hitching Post has the best steak I've ever had, accompanied by the best Pinot Noir I've ever had. They're doing well serving people in a big tent outside, and it's a little noisy sometimes, but it's just as much fun as ever. Hats off to Harley Ostini and the crew for giving us a wonderful meal during these tough times!
Best wine and steaks. Be sure to have the Highliner and the Grilled artichoke
For being COVID, they are doing the best they can do in the current situation. It would have been better to eat inside.
