Hinterland Brewery & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We dined at Hinterland for a business meeting. After reading the reviews about the loud noise level, I requested a more quiet area. We were seated in their back area and it was a little better. This is a beer hall with high ceilings and can get very noisy. The décor and atmosphere were fun. For Appetizers we had the cheese curds, tonatto toast, brussel sprouts and the new, adventurous bone marrow appetizer. They were all very good. For dinner, two in our group had the artisan sausage platter, two had the burger and I had the Blackened Barramundi. All were very tasty. I think the pricing is crazy though. $16 for a burger is hard to justify. I probably will be back, but not for the overpriced dinners. This would be a fun place to hang out for happy hour and appetizers.
Overpriced. Underwhelming! My husband and I both had dinners that were very disappointing. His tiny piece of salmon was served on a bed of undercookeded sweet potatoes. My burger was missing the Neuske’s bacon and the “garlic” fries were missing the garlic! Add in two beers, a small appetizer and our bill was $73.00!!!
Took 2 hours from the time we sat till the time we got our food and it was not busy. Then they brought the food and gave us all the wrong dishes so there was no organization in delivering what else actually ordered.. Food was cold. Took a long time to get our check.
Mediocre is the best explanation I have. The burger was flavorless. The service was not good and we got charged 20% gratuity because we had 8 people. The menu is weak in comparison to what they offered at their previous location. I will say that the drinks and beer were outstanding. We’ll probably return for drinks, but not a meal. I’d rather fo next door to the hotel restaurant.
Love this new location. At first was disappointed that they changed their "thing" (so I thought). I was expecting the amazing personalized service and menu I had come to enjoy at the previous downtown Green Bay location. It was an amazing atmosphere...I would call it upscale sports bar - amazing décor, fun drinks, and amazing food. However it was just that a sports bar...not what I thought we were getting. Then I learned that the dining I had been expecting was available in their upstairs dining area. That is so amazing - double bonus - amazing upscale sports bar AND what I can imagine is the most amazing dining experience (solely based on my past experience with this place). Highly recommended!!!
Food was absolutely terrible. From the pizza (extremely spicy) to the soup (cold) and especially my husband's steak which was subpar in size and quality and delivered cold. Five of our six meals were cold. Seems as if they waited on everything (including the expensive sea bass and steak) to finish the pizza since the pizza was the only thing warm.
Table next to us also had cold, poor quality food and requested the manager talk to them. We chose not to do that since it was our son's 18th birthday and we didn't want to ruin the party. After talking with our neighbors and discovering that we too were not happy, she did stop by and talk to us.
I feel the manager did what she could do in responding to our experience, however, I don't think this is what Hinterland wants to be known for.
The food was marginal and the ambiance was bland.
The biggest issue I had today was the lack of service. After I sat down the first server did not touch base with me for 20 minuets. The server who finally did was very nice and apologetic. They even offered me a free drink for this slight. After taking my order I waited an additional 25 minuets for my food to arrive. The food was hot, thank goodness, and the flavor was ok, but the size of the plate had everything stacked on top of each other. I asked for and did receive an additional plate to separate the “food pile”.
Now if the restaurant had been busy I would have understood the delays, but when I counted there were 19 people there and 7 servers.
Overall a disappointing experience.
Huge disappointment! I expect a clean, organized venue when paying $16 for a hamburger. The restroom was dirty, only 1 out of 3 toilets were functional the others were clogged. The restroom sink was filthy. The restaurant was unkept as well. The staff didn't seem to know what was going on and they were short on menus. Our waitress was nice enough, but the menu seemed to have changed, for the worse, since Hinterland moved to Titletown. Food was good, but I would expect tastier for the price.
The food was tasty but not worth the price. Enjoyed the beer! The bartender and waitress were attentive. I found the noise level to be too high for conversation(hopefully they can find a way to buffer the noise). The atmosphere was interesting, very authentic German heritage beer hall. Did it once, probably won't be back. Oh, and fruit flies...
The food was good but the atmosphere was disappointing. This is our first time visiting the new location and we miss the vibe and the overall ambiance of the old location. The staff was all very young and inexperienced, resulting in slow and poor service. The high ceilings mean busy evenings are incredibly loud - it was difficult to hear the others at our own table.
We were seated upon arrival. The server was new-ish (about 3 weeks experience here).
We sat down and he immediately asked us what we'd like to drink. Keep in mind this is a brewery with an extensive beer list. Nowhere on the beer menu was there anything about flights, and the server neglected to mention it. Found out after we had started on our drinks when we saw one go by. We ordered the fried brussels sprouts (delicious), the fried cauliflower(delicious and a bit spicy), edamame hummus (also good). Our friends had a (good sized) Ribeye which they said was very good. My wife and I shared the Chicken "Tikka Masala" which was tasty. We needed to ask for additional plates and steak knives. There was no anticipation by the server. The dessert was a bourbon bread pudding and was very good. All in all, the food was very good, the beer was excellent, the restaurant was nice, and the service could use a bit of training. We all would definitely return.
We sat at 6:45pm (party of 8), ordered right away, got our appetizers and drinks promptly--however, our food did not come until a few minutes before 8pm. Really unbelievable. The cauliflower app was not good, burger was decent, pizza OK.
The atmosphere was beautiful however, and the server was nice.
If you are in a hurry, don't go there. Also, the restaurant was busy, but not off the chain slammed.
The food was absolutely delicious, but, unfortunately, we could not enjoy it due to cold fingers and shivering. We were seated in the back room of Hinterland next to the windows and could not take our jackets off the entire evening. I downloaded a room thermometer app, and it was 62 degrees inside. Very few of the customers had their jackets off, and our waitress stated that she asked management to turn up the heat due to the complaints. She was very frustrated and offered dessert, but we declined as we just wanted to leave to warm up. At the price point of the food, it was extremely discouraging and disappointing. We would like Hinterland to succeed in our community, and their downtown business was fantastic! We will graciously try it again, but will not go through Open Table. Instead, we'll call directly to secure a fireplace table to avoid the backroom again. Either that, or we'll don our longjohns, hats, mittens, and parkas. This gives new meaning to the term "Tundra!" :) We did email management but never heard anything which we hope is not indicative of a dismissive leadership. We will definitely recommend to out-of-town guests for a fun Lambeau experience.
