About
Our 8 person sushi bar and 20 person patio is located in a discrete corner of La Jolla, a setting well suited to our name, which translate to "Secret" in Japanese.
Chef Mitsu Aihara presents a menu of traditional sushi and nigiri, along with Japanese style tapas using the high quality products and ingredients.
Everything was fresh and authentic. I love the bar in particular.
Our table (at the bar) was directly over the sink. The lights were quite bright. The service was pretty slow. One of the things I ordered wasn’t delivered to us. Good thing is they have gluten free tempura. I thought this was gonna be way cooler.
The king crab tempura was outstanding! All other sushi was exceptional. Love this place.
The best sushi in San Diego
I loved the food. A little overpriced but it was definitely worth it. Can't wait to be back.
Himitsu is the best. Best fish. Best preparation. Best chefs. Best atmosphere.
Don’t go. It’s tiny and we don’t want to share.
Himitsu was mind-blowingly good. One of the best sushi experiences we've had including ones at Michelin-star restaurants in New York and Tokyo.
Our go-to sushi spot. Getting a seat at the bar is the best bc the chefs really take care of you, but the ladies who wait on the porch tables are always on point. Great place, great service and best sushi in San Diego area.
We had a wonderful experience sitting at the sushi bar watching the chef prepare our selections. The fish is always super fresh and the service is spot on!
Thank you!
I like the relaxed feel of this little cozy place. I arrived earlier then i was supposed to, but the wait wasn’t long and they accommodated us even before the reservation time. The best part is the food, the sushi was super fresh, the waitress was very nice and knowledgeable with suggestions. I would definitely return to try out more dishes.
Food was very delicious! Their Omakase had a great combo of sushi and sashimi. Would love to go there again!
Food and service were both exceptional!
Food was awesome and all the people are nice
Excellent sushi bar!
Another Ota alum doing inventive, flavorful cuisine in a very cool space
I love this place. The quality is outstanding. They use real wasabi. Not that crazy hot green colored horseradish.
Among the very best sushi restaurants in San Diego.
It was our second visit, it won't be the last one, though. This Japanese restaurant is a gem in La Jolla!
The sushi master is exactly that: a MASTER!
Everything was perfect, like the first time. We love Himitsu!
Wonderful food! We went to the bar. All was fresh, delicate, superb! Just want to go back again and again....
Delicious as usual!!
Wonderful little restaurant in La Jolla. I travel here for business and would put this near the top in San Diego area for sushi (other is Sushi Ota). The chef was fantastic. Took a personal interest in explaining everything he was servicing and it was absolutely delicious. The vibe in the room was cozy and friendly, I would definitely return.
The food was outstanding ! We sat at the sushi bar and the chefs recommendations were fantastic.
Good sushi but somewhat limited roll selections and wine by the glass. For the price should have nicer ambience but it’s cozy. Only complaint is that when you order they tend to bring a lot of it out at once. If I order appetizer and rolls and something hot in a particular order I don’t expect it all to be served at once. It’s rushed and doesn’t give a dining experience to eat your appetizer, main course - hot and cold food at same time.
Other than that, it’s decent high quality seafood.
Service was outstanding. Food is very good. Prices are high.
Amazing sushi
A great healthy lunch!
Excellent izakaya style Japanese restaurant. Delicious and interesting dishes. Extremely fresh and well prepared sushi. Only one small criticism: Less wasabi in the wasabi caesar salad! Everything else was perfect,,,
Overall excellent experience. Incredible food. The service was not exactly on-point, but otherwise we were pleased.
Great sashimi... great service. Very nice, quaint place, away from the touristy heart of La Jolla. Really enjoyed our NYE meal....
Great food and service!
Himitsu is reliably outstanding. The omakase is always changing but consistently unique and truly delectable. Presentation is artful, service is professional but never stuffy. They are aways so friendly and welcoming. Every time I leave I swear it’s the best meal I’ve had in a long time. Love how you can specifically reserve at the sushi bar on Open Table (highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar, ordering omakase, and getting a great bottle of sake—a winning formula we have tested a number of times!)
This Sushi is made with love. I love their ceramics and Japanese tableware
Good sushi great fresh and creative but lots of repetition
Amazing place. Local vibe. Great quality.
This place has excellent service very friendly and professional staff and extremely good food!
The portions were small and not worth the price. Would not recommend
The best Japanese sushi’s house in town !
