Our 8 person sushi bar and 20 person patio is located in a discrete corner of La Jolla, a setting well suited to our name, which translate to "Secret" in Japanese.
Chef Mitsu Aihara presents a menu of traditional sushi and nigiri, along with Japanese style tapas using the high quality products and ingredients.
I like the relaxed feel of this little cozy place. I arrived earlier then i was supposed to, but the wait wasn’t long and they accommodated us even before the reservation time. The best part is the food, the sushi was super fresh, the waitress was very nice and knowledgeable with suggestions. I would definitely return to try out more dishes.
Food was very delicious! Their Omakase had a great combo of sushi and sashimi. Would love to go there again!
Food and service were both exceptional!
Food was awesome and all the people are nice
Excellent sushi bar!
Another Ota alum doing inventive, flavorful cuisine in a very cool space
I love this place. The quality is outstanding. They use real wasabi. Not that crazy hot green colored horseradish.
Among the very best sushi restaurants in San Diego.
It was our second visit, it won't be the last one, though. This Japanese restaurant is a gem in La Jolla!
The sushi master is exactly that: a MASTER!
Everything was perfect, like the first time. We love Himitsu!
Wonderful food! We went to the bar. All was fresh, delicate, superb! Just want to go back again and again....
Delicious as usual!!
Wonderful little restaurant in La Jolla. I travel here for business and would put this near the top in San Diego area for sushi (other is Sushi Ota). The chef was fantastic. Took a personal interest in explaining everything he was servicing and it was absolutely delicious. The vibe in the room was cozy and friendly, I would definitely return.
The food was outstanding ! We sat at the sushi bar and the chefs recommendations were fantastic.
Good sushi but somewhat limited roll selections and wine by the glass. For the price should have nicer ambience but it’s cozy. Only complaint is that when you order they tend to bring a lot of it out at once. If I order appetizer and rolls and something hot in a particular order I don’t expect it all to be served at once. It’s rushed and doesn’t give a dining experience to eat your appetizer, main course - hot and cold food at same time.
Other than that, it’s decent high quality seafood.
Service was outstanding. Food is very good. Prices are high.
A great healthy lunch!
Excellent izakaya style Japanese restaurant. Delicious and interesting dishes. Extremely fresh and well prepared sushi. Only one small criticism: Less wasabi in the wasabi caesar salad! Everything else was perfect,,,
Overall excellent experience. Incredible food. The service was not exactly on-point, but otherwise we were pleased.
Great sashimi... great service. Very nice, quaint place, away from the touristy heart of La Jolla. Really enjoyed our NYE meal....
Great food and service!
This Sushi is made with love. I love their ceramics and Japanese tableware
Good sushi great fresh and creative but lots of repetition
Amazing place. Local vibe. Great quality.
The portions were small and not worth the price. Would not recommend
The best Japanese sushi’s house in town !
Exceptional sushi and service. Himitsu does not disappoint!
Amazing experience!!! Sat with mitsu and had a blast. Do omakase!!!!
Service distracted, not as good as in the past.
Excellent food and service sitting at the sushi bar.
Excellent newer Japanese restaurant. Fish is extremely fresh. There is only a handful of quality sushi restaurants in San Diego and this is absolutely on that very short list.
Great food. Very good service. Staff was really accommodating
I love everything about this place!
The quality and presentation are top notch!
The sushi chefs are all extremely talented and very communicative and informative so you know the details of the ingredients.
I can’t wait to go back again and again. 🍣
Great food and atmosphere, especially at the sushi bar
Fantastic sashimi, freindly staff. This is my favorite thing to do in La Jolla!
Best sushi spot in San Diego! I would highly recommend Himitsu to anyone who enjoys quality sushi.
Very pleasant experience. Service was excellent and the food outstanding. The restaurant is very small but cozy. I’d go back anytime.
A very welcoming setting and the food was delicious. I want to go back every week if I could afford you.
Went there for my son's birthday and let the host know ahead of time for a little surprise celebration. Service was slow and inattentive. And no special treat for the birthday boy. Food was good, but overall very disappointing.
