    This was simply the best dining experience I’ve had in 20 years living in Davis. It’s pricey, but tots worth it! This restaurant is a treasure to have on a small town like ours. Support your local businesses!

    Best Omakase experience I’ve ever had. Chef is incredibly smart and talented and will make you feel welcomed. True and traditional Japanese Omakase. This will be a monthly ritual for us now

    I took my mother here for her 73rd Birthday Dinner. I heard a lot of great reviews from personal friends who also experienced this special omakase dinner. Chef Sithu and staff did not disappoint. This was a 1st for both myself and mom. Mom is from Japan and she definitely enjoyed every dish and experience. Chef Sithu was engaging and informative. Explaining the rarity of each fish and where it came from. Only using quality ingredients while staying true to the traditional Omakase ways of ancient Japan. The servers and sou chefs were also very attentive and hospitality was felt. They even let my mom choose a sake of her choice and served both of us a glass for her Birthday as well as added a Birthday candle on her dessert. It was very much appreciated. My mom and myself have traveled to Japan many times and even though we were in Davis, CA. We both felt in that moment like we were back in Japan enjoying an exclusive meal. I definitely recommend experiencing this Omakse Sushi Dinner well worth the price and experience. I plan on taking the wife back for our Anniversary in October. To Chef Sithu, "Gochiso-sama-desheta, Arigato-Go-Zai Masu" Thank you very much for the exquisite food.

    Amazing dinner, very intimate, the chefs done a fantastic job and we're able to interact with the diners to answer any questions and to inform guest. Every dish was so well thought out and superbly executed. I would highly recommend of you want a very special dinner. The sake pairing was so worth it and the service was outstanding.

    We had the most incredible meal here! Everything was fantastic: the beautiful interior, friendly service, phenomenal courses, and knowledgeable chefs. We appreciated learning about each course (22 total!), where the fish and beef were sources from, and what made each dish special and unique. It's clear the owners and staff are passionate about what they do and providing the best experience possible for their customers - even noticed that we were left handed and subsequently changing the positioning of how they plated our food. So many small details that really enhanced the experience. We don't usually treat ourselves to such nice meals but this was well worth it! Seems like we got even more than we paid for. They also called us ahead of time to plan a dairy-free substitute dessert. Can't wait to be back and bring our friends and family along. Amazing experience!

    So lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber nearby. We just came back from Japan & dined at Michelin star restaurants (1 3-star). Both my husband & I feel Hikari was actually better than those restaurants. The setting is very low key; I feel comfortable asking questions of the chef. Just a great experience overall!

    Our omakaze experience was phenomenal! The food was excellent, and the chefs were so engaging and knowledgeable! We loved everything on the menu and came out stuffed. The servers made the place feel inviting, no complaints whatsoever about service. Hikari Sushi is worth every dollar, and I can't wait to visit again!

    One of the best omakase experience I’ve ever had. The quality was superb and one of the best uni I’ve ever had. The plating, details, and the small stories he tells are amazing as well. I’ll definitely come back as I know it will be a different experience but a delicious one.

    it is not just a meal. it is an experience. Do not go if you are in a rush. Although the individual masterpieces come out without waiting, each taste is meant to be savored. A restaurant seating 15- with only 2 seatings a night, it is individualized.

    We've been to Hikari once before, about a month ago. So when brother and sister in law wanted to try it, we decided to go with them since we liked it the 1st time. Honestly I expected the same food/experience since its only been a month. Boy was I wrong the whole menu and presentation was different, we were blown away once again!!! if you are looking for authentic Omakase yoy have to try Hikari!!

    We celebrated my mother’s birthday at Hikari and were blown away by the artistry of the Omakase. Each course was thoughtfully crafted. We enjoyed learning about the sources of the ingredients and preparation methods that went into each course. The chefs and staff were attentive and happy to answer our questions.     An experience at the highest level, both in the quality of the food as well as the deep level of gratitude in the preparation and service of it. If you appreciate an intimate education with a spectacular meal, then make sure you try the Omakase... It's well worth it and will blow your mind.

    Simply an outstanding experience. We attended the reservation omekase experience. The small venue was comfortably seated, and with fewer patrons than a larger place means a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were attentive, friendly, and seemed genuinely happy. The chef's passion for his work, both the food itself and the ambience of the location, was clearly visible. I greatly enjoyed learning about the food itself as well as the intention behind its creation. I was pleasantly surprised by several of the dishes, having never had such a silky smooth savory custard or properly aged sushi ingredients. The flavors were superb, the presentation lovely, and the location easy to get to.
