The Highlight Room Grill
Great views, especially at sunset!
Although the roof top venue was very romantic the glass windows hindered a clear view of the city.
Our tuna appetizer and soup was delicious - but we were disappointed by the filet mignon.
It did not seem crusted and was only warm. The server was very sweet and efficient.
This restaurant is a real find if you need a place to have a quiet conversation, business or personal. The wait staff is phenomenal. We ordered the fish tacos and the hummus and veggie plate. Food was decent but a little bland and not the thing I would go back for. I will be back because it's a wonderful place to hang out and talk. Of course I'll try something different next time!
The highlight room was recommended to me by a friend when I went out to LA. SO HAPPY I came here! The food was great, and the service was even better. All staff was friendly and willing to help. Special thanks to Brandon, and misty for going above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience! They even have music and entertainment on the other side of the rooftop. The view was breathtaking music was bumpin! Had the best night here . Definitely planning on coming here every time I visit LA. 5 stars !!!!
Beautiful place and views , we very much enjoyed our visit . Our service was great and quick
Great view! Delicious food!
It was good
I don't remember her name, but the manager for the evening insisted on charging me $22 for a side of shrimp for which I've ALWAYS paid $8.00. It shows $8.00 on the menu. She insisted EVERYBODY else who has ever served me the exact same item was wrong.
Eventually, she corrected the error, but not before making it a BIG EMBARRASSING ordeal. For her to make a spectacle in front of my guests was unacceptable and unappreciated.
Otherwise to date, Highlight Grill has been amazing and addictive. The servers and the hosts are AWESOME and amongst the best for similar type establishments. Of course, manager Mike is second to none. I'm sure if he was still there, the server would have never initially been instructed to charge me an extra $14 per side.
I've seen this done to drunk patrons or patrons who seem to never look at the bill at other establishments. I wasn't drunk or even drinking alcohol. I'm going to chalk it up to a bad apple. It's unfortunate that one act of ridiculousness can put a cloud over so much other good will.
Food and atmosphere is amazing. Real quality food, we got a chocolate dessert and it was really delicious.
Overall, the Highlight Grill wasn't what I assumed it to be- a rooftop delight overlooking Hollywood with delicious food and comfortable setting. The food was, in my opinion, mediocre at best and way overpriced. We had a group of four and everyone following dining here remarked the food was, "Meh." Drinks were also overpriced and relied too heavily on the allure of Hollywood glamour. Our server was very professional and kind. The pool area had party kids from young people looking for their "Glow Up" and the smell of marijuana was overbearing as was the volume of the music. The only real "Highlight" here was in fact, the views. For that, I would say, save your money on the view, go to a restaurant with delicious food and end your evening with a comparable view in the surrounding area.
Food was great ! Service needs to improve. Atmosphere was awesome. Would recommend
Love this place I’ve definitely found my new spot. Everything about it is amazing. The food the vibe the views everything
We stayed at the Dream Hotel and decided to grab breakfast at The Highlight Room as we thought it would be quick and convenient. The service was very slow, our server did not offer water or took our order until 20 minutes of us waiting.
Beautiful view for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For that matter, any time of day.
A hidden treasure with unobstructed views of the Hollywood area.
I had a great time and the staff is always amazing.
Beautiful view, nice location, food was great. HOWEVER, we were there and they were having a pool party going on so the noise level was really really high. I am not sure if this goes on all the time or was a one-off, but with the noise level that high and women exposing so much skin definitely not a place to take the whole family. I would recommend that you call in advance to see what is happening that day and then if you have anyone under 21 may be look at an alternative place. Other than that, the staff was fantastic, food really was great...
Not bad at all - just nothing special. Food is average or below average and definitely not worth the steep tab you pay for brunching there. Way too expensive for sub-par, basic food and ambiance.
My dinner was tasteful, atmosphere was beautiful, the view was amazing, and an overall great experience !!!
We had a reservation for 7 pm and didn't get seated until 7.20 pm. They gave us a glass of champagne and sweet potato fries for the inconvenience.
Food was good. The waitress had too many tables and it took a long time to have her come by to the table whenever we needed anything.
The ambiance was amazing and the food was stunning. I had a sunset dinner with my fiancé and the view was beautiful as dined. I’d definitely recommend this spot.
Great place with an awesome staff! We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t too busy. The food was delicious and the drinks were great. Love the atmosphere, a great place for brunch!
Exceptional service by Imani who made us inc 2 kids very welcome. Food was ok, nothing to shout about but this place is alll about the vibe and location and it was excellent in that regard!
Great for an LA vibe. Lovely views. Good food. Pleasant staff.
The vibe is definitely young here. Don’t bother if you’re over 40. I went there with a friend for Sunday afternoon brunch and booked because of the rooftop location which I thought would be nice for an out of towner.
The “restaurant” is at the far end of the roof and to access it one must walk through the pool area . The pool was empty, but the smallish patio around it was jammed with women in thong bikinis. After weaving our way through a gauntlet of too much skin we made it to the Highlight Room.
The restaurant is very small and the bar takes up a good portion of it. The “smart casual” dress code and prohibition against, tanks, tees, shorts and flip flops was ignored completely.
The service was indifferent and the drinks mediocre - served in plastic glasses due to proximity to the pool. The food was good enough, but not outstanding. It was noisy with annoying background music, but the view of the city was good.
It may be different in the evenings or during months when the would be Vegas show girls aren’t on parade, but I can’t speak to that. In my opinion, they should stop trying to hype this as a restaurant and advertise it for what it is - a pool bar with food.
This may be great for the younger crowd, but not for me. All of the reviews said the atmosphere was great. I wish there had been a Caveat Senior warning in at least one of them. I would not have booked had I know what the place was like.
The ambiance was very good, however the service was not good just ok and the food cost more than what is was worth.... I had the waffle plate, now the waffles were good, but the chicken "no taste, no seasoning" at all. My son had the burger, he was expecting way more "taste wise" for the cost - $25 for a burger and fries, ridiculous. Again, the ambiance helped with the disappointment in the food and service.
Food was lackluster. The expectation of an upscale dress code was not met by other patrons nor does it seem fitting when you have to walk past a hotel pool and lounge area. Dress code as listed on the site should be revised, at least for breakfast/brunch. Our main server didn’t seem particularly attentive. A woman who happened to work the desk was more helpful. Couldn’t recommend this establishment at all.
Great crowd. AWESOME General Manager, Patrick rocks!!!
Came with a friend to celebrate with reservation. We were seated 20 mins after because our seats weren’t ready. Ordered, took about 35 mins for food to come but was unbothered because the scenery and the music was enjoyable. Our experience was good so far and our waiter was great but not until the end. Ordered dessert, that took another 20 to 25 mins to come but again we were unbothered. After finishing our desert we took a few mins to sit until the hostess came and told us if we weren’t ordering any more food then we’d have to give up the table for other reservations and they needed the table “now” as she stated. We thought it was rude, so we got up and ask the supervisor or who ever the person was if there was a time limit while eating dinner they stated an hour and a half, which is BS and never heard of a restaurant with a time limit when it took ordering our food, drinks, dessert and having to be seated longer than the dinner time limit they stated. At the end of the day my opinion may not matter, but they definitely need a better host or hostess and not one who looks like she got a stank face, which ruined our night!
I had the minestrone soup, pretty good, and branzino-very savory sauce and the accompanying blistered tomatoes and arugula were delicious. Hubby loved his avocado toast and scallops but wished there were more. The views are amazing if you keep your eyeline above some of the ugly nearby rooftops. we saw a beautiful sunset.
Old time Hollywood in a new by the swimming pool package.
The servers attitude changes to rude once we told her we didnt want to buy alcohol
We were sitting at the table for 25min and nobody asked for our order until we called them out, no water, no drinks, NOTHING. And we were only 5 tables there. Once we call them out, they served everything so fast. The place is nice, but honestly, I won’t be back.
My Server was amazing! My server was amazing!! MY SERVER WAS AMAZING!!!
Beautiful rooftop setting with the Hollywood sign as a backdrop. Our brunch was excellent and the service wonderful.
Great service by our waiter Alex... The view and the food was awesome! Thanks Again!
great views, good food and drinks. service was good too. I keep coming back for brunch!
At risk of hyperbole, I have to say that this is the best restaurant we've ever been to. The food, service, ambiance, and city views were simply outstanding. We do particularly like this kind if the small-plate restaurant, where you can order two or three things instead of one large entree. There are also some full-size items on the menu, like the chicken sandwich or hamburger.
We went there for a week-day lunch and had tuna poke, lobster toast, burrata salad, and fish tacos. They were all impeccably presented and tasted amazing. The wine and cocktail we had were also excellent.
It didn't hurt that our waiter was super cute and reminded us of Paul Rudd. All of the other staff were great fun.
I don't want to go overboard with this rating and I think I've thought about it carefully enough. So I do have to say that this is indeed the best restaurant we've been to just about any where in the world, or certainly one of the top two or three.
Please do take all this effusiveness with as big a grain of salt as necessary.
Girls day out for us included friends from out of town - we all had a blast!
The view was awesome, right in the heart of Hollywood and you have the perfect view of the Hollywood sign. Great ambiance, they were actually about to have a pool party when we left but one of the bartenders told us we were more than welcome to stay for it. But the food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and attentive. One of my friends food came out really late, so our server took it upon herself to give her an appetizer for feee...on top of subtracting a few other things she ordered from her check. Would definitely come here again.
