The Highlight Room Grill
Service was slow but everyone was very friendly and interesting, the food was great, and the view is spectacular!
My friend and I were staying at an Airbnb nearby and decided to hit this place up for breakfast before we caught our flight home. As I probably should have guessed, it was all show and no substance. I ordered tea and had to ask 3 times for honey. My friend ordered scrambled egg whites and got regular scrambled eggs. She had to ask for pepper 3 times. The food criminally overpriced and underseasoned.
All the front of house staff are gorgeous but are either too self absorbed to put any effort into their job or just aren’t the sharpest knives in the box. Or both. Either way, this place pretty much played into every stereotype I have about the LA area and the people who live there.
Ambiance is great. We had incredible views of the surrounding area and the Hollywood sign. It’s this restaurant’s only redeeming quality.
Overpriced, especially drinks. Open rooftop, but no great views.
This place is awesome. Perfect place to take a date if you don't mind spending money in the triple digits. Everything is pricey here but you're paying for the environment, the view, the music etc. I thought It was worth it and my girl was definitely impressed.
It is me and my boyfriend’s first time in LA, so I researched rooftop restaurants for his birthday dinner & came upon The Highlight Room. For starters, our reservations were for 9:30pm and we did not get seated until 30 minutes later. I do not understand the point of reservations if we can not even be seated on time. Then we waited for 15 minutes before a waiter even came towards our table. My boyfriend had to remind the waiter for our drinks which was only two waters & a watermelon lemonade, received another 15 minutes later. Then we were finally able to order when our drinks came back. I ordered the special lobster alfredo & my boyfriend ordered the same with chicken instead. Honestly, it was decent, but I would have rather eaten alfredo at Olive Garden, especially because I expect pasta to be piping hot not room temperature. My boyfriend absolutely did not like his alfredo, so he opted for a burger and fries instead. It’s sad to say that his new food was way better than my fancy pasta. Overall, the atmosphere & music was great, but honestly I would never recommend or even try to come back here again. It was a lesson learned.
Although the view and the trendy ambiance is certainly the attraction, the food is very good, too. It all makes for a relaxing, pleasurable leisurely lunch, although it comes with a price. But worth it.
the highlight room was such a great amosphere, food and drinks were very good too!
I love highlight room, the view is amazing and also is the food. The only thing that I want to complain about is that I booked a table for 12:30 and the table wasn’t done until 20 minutes after. If I book a table at 12:30, I’m also going to get the table at 12:30, not 20 minutes after that.
I came here with my best friend for a girl's brunch to celebrate my birthday. From the moment I arrived to the moment we left, every single element was perfect. I am excited to bring other friends by for a very special meal in a beautiful location. Thanks for helping to make my birthday extra special!!!
The ambiance was great. Honestly, probably one of the most gorgeous places I’ve dined at. Service at the bar was horrible. The bartender did not attend to us even thought he acknowledged that we were standing there he proceeded to serve other people who came after us. After 20 mins we gave up and just waited to order drinks during our reservation time. The server during dinner was attentive and much friendlier than the bartender. Our drinks were super over priced ... $21 for a ciroc cocktail? It just seemed unreasonable. The pasta was okay. The burger we ordered wasn’t anything special for $25. I wish I enjoyed my time here, because I would have loved to come back for the view. I don’t think I will be back, it just wasn’t a pleasant experience or worth the money.
Great views and atmosphere. Services was excellent and food was great. Lunch Selection-Prices a little high? Can understand higher pricing for dinner.otherwise loved it and will come back again!
Tremendous venue with incredible views. Prices were a little on the steep side for my partner and I, but was totally worth it.
Had a great birthday there. Great food and service ! Trendy and amazing views
Great views, especially at sunset!
Although the roof top venue was very romantic the glass windows hindered a clear view of the city.
Our tuna appetizer and soup was delicious - but we were disappointed by the filet mignon.
It did not seem crusted and was only warm. The server was very sweet and efficient.
This restaurant is a real find if you need a place to have a quiet conversation, business or personal. The wait staff is phenomenal. We ordered the fish tacos and the hummus and veggie plate. Food was decent but a little bland and not the thing I would go back for. I will be back because it's a wonderful place to hang out and talk. Of course I'll try something different next time!
The highlight room was recommended to me by a friend when I went out to LA. SO HAPPY I came here! The food was great, and the service was even better. All staff was friendly and willing to help. Special thanks to Brandon, and misty for going above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience! They even have music and entertainment on the other side of the rooftop. The view was breathtaking music was bumpin! Had the best night here . Definitely planning on coming here every time I visit LA. 5 stars !!!!
Beautiful place and views , we very much enjoyed our visit . Our service was great and quick
Great view! Delicious food!
It was good
I don't remember her name, but the manager for the evening insisted on charging me $22 for a side of shrimp for which I've ALWAYS paid $8.00. It shows $8.00 on the menu. She insisted EVERYBODY else who has ever served me the exact same item was wrong.
Eventually, she corrected the error, but not before making it a BIG EMBARRASSING ordeal. For her to make a spectacle in front of my guests was unacceptable and unappreciated.
Otherwise to date, Highlight Grill has been amazing and addictive. The servers and the hosts are AWESOME and amongst the best for similar type establishments. Of course, manager Mike is second to none. I'm sure if he was still there, the server would have never initially been instructed to charge me an extra $14 per side.
I've seen this done to drunk patrons or patrons who seem to never look at the bill at other establishments. I wasn't drunk or even drinking alcohol. I'm going to chalk it up to a bad apple. It's unfortunate that one act of ridiculousness can put a cloud over so much other good will.
Food and atmosphere is amazing. Real quality food, we got a chocolate dessert and it was really delicious.
Overall, the Highlight Grill wasn't what I assumed it to be- a rooftop delight overlooking Hollywood with delicious food and comfortable setting. The food was, in my opinion, mediocre at best and way overpriced. We had a group of four and everyone following dining here remarked the food was, "Meh." Drinks were also overpriced and relied too heavily on the allure of Hollywood glamour. Our server was very professional and kind. The pool area had party kids from young people looking for their "Glow Up" and the smell of marijuana was overbearing as was the volume of the music. The only real "Highlight" here was in fact, the views. For that, I would say, save your money on the view, go to a restaurant with delicious food and end your evening with a comparable view in the surrounding area.
Food was great ! Service needs to improve. Atmosphere was awesome. Would recommend
Love this place I’ve definitely found my new spot. Everything about it is amazing. The food the vibe the views everything
We stayed at the Dream Hotel and decided to grab breakfast at The Highlight Room as we thought it would be quick and convenient. The service was very slow, our server did not offer water or took our order until 20 minutes of us waiting.
Beautiful view for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For that matter, any time of day.
A hidden treasure with unobstructed views of the Hollywood area.
I had a great time and the staff is always amazing.
Beautiful view, nice location, food was great. HOWEVER, we were there and they were having a pool party going on so the noise level was really really high. I am not sure if this goes on all the time or was a one-off, but with the noise level that high and women exposing so much skin definitely not a place to take the whole family. I would recommend that you call in advance to see what is happening that day and then if you have anyone under 21 may be look at an alternative place. Other than that, the staff was fantastic, food really was great...
Not bad at all - just nothing special. Food is average or below average and definitely not worth the steep tab you pay for brunching there. Way too expensive for sub-par, basic food and ambiance.
My dinner was tasteful, atmosphere was beautiful, the view was amazing, and an overall great experience !!!
We had a reservation for 7 pm and didn't get seated until 7.20 pm. They gave us a glass of champagne and sweet potato fries for the inconvenience.
Food was good. The waitress had too many tables and it took a long time to have her come by to the table whenever we needed anything.
The ambiance was amazing and the food was stunning. I had a sunset dinner with my fiancé and the view was beautiful as dined. I’d definitely recommend this spot.
Great place with an awesome staff! We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t too busy. The food was delicious and the drinks were great. Love the atmosphere, a great place for brunch!
Exceptional service by Imani who made us inc 2 kids very welcome. Food was ok, nothing to shout about but this place is alll about the vibe and location and it was excellent in that regard!
Great for an LA vibe. Lovely views. Good food. Pleasant staff.
The vibe is definitely young here. Don’t bother if you’re over 40. I went there with a friend for Sunday afternoon brunch and booked because of the rooftop location which I thought would be nice for an out of towner.
The “restaurant” is at the far end of the roof and to access it one must walk through the pool area . The pool was empty, but the smallish patio around it was jammed with women in thong bikinis. After weaving our way through a gauntlet of too much skin we made it to the Highlight Room.
The restaurant is very small and the bar takes up a good portion of it. The “smart casual” dress code and prohibition against, tanks, tees, shorts and flip flops was ignored completely.
The service was indifferent and the drinks mediocre - served in plastic glasses due to proximity to the pool. The food was good enough, but not outstanding. It was noisy with annoying background music, but the view of the city was good.
It may be different in the evenings or during months when the would be Vegas show girls aren’t on parade, but I can’t speak to that. In my opinion, they should stop trying to hype this as a restaurant and advertise it for what it is - a pool bar with food.
This may be great for the younger crowd, but not for me. All of the reviews said the atmosphere was great. I wish there had been a Caveat Senior warning in at least one of them. I would not have booked had I know what the place was like.
The ambiance was very good, however the service was not good just ok and the food cost more than what is was worth.... I had the waffle plate, now the waffles were good, but the chicken "no taste, no seasoning" at all. My son had the burger, he was expecting way more "taste wise" for the cost - $25 for a burger and fries, ridiculous. Again, the ambiance helped with the disappointment in the food and service.
Food was lackluster. The expectation of an upscale dress code was not met by other patrons nor does it seem fitting when you have to walk past a hotel pool and lounge area. Dress code as listed on the site should be revised, at least for breakfast/brunch. Our main server didn’t seem particularly attentive. A woman who happened to work the desk was more helpful. Couldn’t recommend this establishment at all.
