Highland Tap Ratings and Reviews
My family and I went to Highland Tap for my husbands birthday. The staff was warm and informative. The food was delicious, flavorful and pipping hot. My husband loved his prime rib and my daughter said the chicken fingers were the best ever! We will definitely be back.
We have been dining at Highland Tap for about 30 years and have never been disappointed. We always ask for our same Waiter, David. He makes our dining experience very pleasurable and always with a smile! It is such a treat to dine at Highland Tap! Thank you! Wayne and Joanie, Inman Park.
Servers were attentive and friendly. Food was served in a reasonable amount of time. Extensive beer list. Ample portions. My husband enjoyed the tuna tartare. He had prime rib; I had trout with grits and Brussel sprouts. We split the Baileys chocolate chip cheesecake. Well worth the calories.
Tried something new for Valentine's Day, it took over an hour for an appetizer, rarely saw our server, our entre came out about 1/2 hour after our appetizer and it was room temp at best. When I requested to see the manager the lady that came to our table was fairly polite and apologetic and offered to comp the meal. I told her I wasn't really looking for anything free but apparently that was her only solution so she snatched my plate up and we were on our way. The food looked like it would have been good, I would have liked to warm it up to try but this may have been only bcs I was starving at this point.
A cozy place for a fresh dinner with variety. I took a fried so we could catch up after a long absence. It was quiet so we could talk,. The waitperson was attentive but not at all intrusive.
No one seemed to mind that we sat for hours. A lovely winter's evening.
We usually enjoy Highland Tap. Despite the noise, the food is good and reasonably priced. The service is usually excellent. On our last visit, my companion ordered a Caesar Salad with salmon and the lettuce was brown and somewhat wilted. This has not been our usual experience. The only "hitch" in our recent visit was that we presented an Open Table gift certificate and it seemed to confuse the server a bit. She later said that the manager had to call Open Table and get it validated/approved. Since it was our first time using a bonus certificate, we weren't sure whether this is the norm.
Wish we didn't have to walk thru a cloud of cigarette smoke on the way out. I don't care if people smoke but 6 or so smokers at the main exit tainted an otherwise good drinking and dining experience. This won't keep us from returning but try to find another better ventilated place for these folks.
We've had better food. The food was good but it wasn't exceptional. I ordered a house salad with ranch dressing, but blue cheese was brought out. No big deal. I had the filet. It was ok but not flavorful. My wife had the trout and said it was good. The server was prompt and attentive. The décor was dark and rustic. Kind of reminded me of the old Steak and Ale restaurants. Drinks were strong and not watered down, but too much for the wife.
Overall it was good. If you live close, by all means give it a try. If you traveled over an hour to get here, like we did. I believe there are better places to go.
We were warmly welcomed upon arriving and sat immediately despite being early for our reservation. The server greeted us promptly and we ordered drinks--they were out of the wine I selected, but she knew and suggested an alternative. We ordered an appetizer but needed a minute to consider the menu and specials. An extended period of time later, approx 7 minutes, we were able to flag the server down to order. The food arrived in a timely manner, but the au gratin potatoes I ordered were barely like warm and more firm than expected. I asked the server to warm them up and she did so promptly. Overall it was an ok dinner with several small issues. I have been to this restaurant several times over the years and will continue to go, but it might be a while before I return this time around.
Nothing that we ate was good. The carpaccio was overly slathered in the aioli, the French onion soup tasted bizarrely sweet and unpleasant, the onion rings were soggy, the baked potato insipid, the signature burger just bland. The filet mignon was fatty and had a bizarre flavor in the meat that we did not enjoy in the least. Although this place has great ambiance, we will never be returning here.
