Highland Tap Ratings and Reviews
For those on a strict no wheat, sugar etc diet, Highland Tap is great. They turn an ordinary paleo meal into a feast. Hickory grilled filet, grilled vegetables, and grilled asparagas!
If you decide to step off the plan a little--try the delicious icy lemon drop martinis. Best ever!!
What was a hot spot in 1990's, should be again. Tucked away in VA highlands, Highland Tap should be on every paleo, gluten free, Fast Metabolism diet follower's list of places to go where you can have a great meal and not feel like you are on a restrictive diet!
Highland Tap used to be my go to steak place. I hadn't been in awhile and was excited to bring a friend there who had never been. The atmosphere was as I remembered it. Everything else though had changed. Ribeye was prepared incorrectly, sent it back, received no apologies. Then was "scolded" like a child for not liking the cold, grey piece of "f*ck you" steak I received from the cook on the second try. Everything was bland. The cheesecake was stale and frozen. The martini was good. The waitress was sweet. Overall, though. Not what I remembered. I won't be going back. There's too many good steak places in the city to waste my money here.
First timer with Boo for dinner! The wait was long even with a reservation but very happy we waited as the food was amazing! I had the prime RIB and it was to die for (juicy, cook perfect for a medium well)!
As an appetizer we had the calamari and it was the best I ever had in Atlanta😊😊
ambiance was nice but the couples behind us was a bit too loud but it is expected in a very crowded restaurant!
Server was ok but not over the top!
Had moderate expectations, but, just didn’t work out. Server was pretty Koch ch clean out the whole time, had order and food temp issues but couldn’t get wait staff attention. No attempt to apologize or make it right. Four us of all shared the same experience so I doubt this is on our do over list. Sorry, but we gave it a shot.
The food was good, but the service was terrible. We had a reservation for a Christmas lunch for 6 co-workers and we were seated on time and about the same time as two other parties of 10-12. Unfortunately, it was 30 minutes before anyone took our order and almost an hour and ten mi utes before we received our food.
Classic dishes and great prime rib. Great add on menu. We had blue cheese crusted prime rib, pepper corn crusted prime rib, side of bernaise and great crab cake appetizer. All the food was delicious! The service is nice and friendly and its a great atmosphere.
We had a few new attendees at our table. They very much enjoyed their meals and the ambiance. Our wait staff was attentive and informative. Recommendations were great! Food was delicious and filling. Dessert met everyone’s expectation. Excellent choice for our meal and continuing discussions. Thank you!
When I made the reservation, I indicated that it was a birthday celebration. It was actually a double birthday celebration. Mine was yesterday and my friend's is this Friday. No mention of this was made by our host or server. Didn't expect any freebies, but a mention would have been nice.
As for ambience, where we were seated, there were smokers outside and their smoke drifted in when a nearby door was opened. The background music of classic rock were good tracks and played at a nonintrusive level. At least one nearby table was kind of loud occasionally, but not too much.
Service was friendly and efficient.
We both had the prime rib special which was tasty and cooked to our desired temperature. Her side of the potatoes au gratin and mine of asparagus with hollandaise were very good. Rib accompaniments of horseradish sauce and au jus were good complements to the meat.
Terrific option for any type meal in a cozy, quiet environment. Good for socializing or discussing business. Food was very high quality and reasonably priced. Prime rib is a particularly good value. Martini's are nicely served. Setting has a speakeasy feel, with brick walls, wooden booths, and different flare with being below street level on the Highland Ave side. Complimentary valet parking behind the building was great. All staff very cordial and welcoming.
