Wow! Amazing atmosphere and service! The food was great! The server was attentive, kind and explained everything well! We’ll be back for sure!
We ordered the pork tacos, an appetizer we really enjoyed on our last visit. We had to send them back. The dish was completely different than our previous visit. We literally go out to eat only six times a year. This was a waste. Putting kale slaw on shredded and cubed pork was awful. Less trendy ingredients would be a better idea. The cubed pork was full of fat. The replacement meal was flatbread pizza. I loved the peppadues; however, ground beef on pizza is awful. The same kale looking slaw was on the pizza. ....I believe. We will not return. PS..Hamburgers should not look like a giant meatball.
It was fabulous.
Wonderful place for a special occasion, service was great with a laid back feel . Waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the wine selection and the menu. Definitely will be going back
Eric was our server. He was extremely attentive and made great recommendations. The atmosphere was fantastic. It is a lovely restaraunt with a small amount of tables. It made the dining experience even more pleasurable. I like that the source their ingredients locally and made for a wonderful menu. Everything we had was delicious and I would highly recommend Highland Avenue to anyone who is looking for a great place to dine. Make sure to ask for Eric, he will not disappoint.
Been there twice so far everything was excellent
The oyster app was the best oysters I have ever had. We are never disappointed when we leave.
Amazing 4 course Valentines Day dinner. Very reasonable price with a wine pairing for a little extra. All done to perfection in a quiet back room with a view of the city. Will definitely be back to this restaurant.
The staff was very welcoming and provided a number of great suggestions. Would like to see a larger draft beer selection; however, they had several good options with a variety of styles. Locally sourced ingredients that were prepared well. Can't say enough about the friendly staff.
My husband and I had made reservations for Valentine's day, this was our first time at Highland. Our server was very nice (Audrey) and when I told her I have tree nuts allergies she immediately wrote it down. I order the veggie flatbread for appetizer and the Farmer & Chef Vegetarian and my husband the smoke chicken. When the flatbread arrived, the person that brought the food informed us they omitted the pesto since it has pine nuts, this is great customer service. The main course was delicious, i will definitely come back again soon.
Valentine Day fixed price menu was excellent. We went for the wine pairing as well and we're not disappointed. Always excellent just difficult to carry on a conversation due to room acoustics.
Wonderful service and great food with perfect wine pairing.
My wife and I came for Valentines Day. It was our first visit. The food was phenomenal. The service was excellent. The server was very knowledgeable. We will definitely be returning.
More Craft local Beer Choices are needed both draft and bottle.
Another great meal at Highland Avenue. We love the innovative food, and our server Eric was terrific.
Always enjoy dining at H.Ave. Bar service is best in Hickory. Food is expensive but high quality. Queen's Feast was good value, 3 courses. Excellent service.
We came for the Queens Feast and had a lovely meal. My trout was delicious!! The parsnip and Brussels sprouts salad was tasty and different - it’s alwasy nice to have something unusual that one wouldn’t be making at home. The only thing I might take issue with had to do with wine. It was half price bottles on Thursday but neither of the more moderately priced Pinot Noir selections were available. So I had to order beyond what I would normally have spent. I really think the restaurant should have offered my only remaining choice at the lesser price of my first which was not available. This is also not the first time this has happened.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all. They have a varied menu both in selection and price.
Our first visit to Highland Avenue was very, very enjoyable. We have lived in Hickory for a couple years and, for whatever reason, have not been there for dinner. We will return soon!
The prix fixe dinner was a solid value, original, and quite tasty. Also a sandwich entree was ordered. The "fried chicken" sandwich was huge, the fresh cut fries were just that, and the price was terrific. Our cocktails were tasty - bartender not stingy with the pour.
Lovely food, everything we had from the appetizer to entrees were divine. It was a nice surprise when our waiter told us bottles of wine are half off on Thursday night—win! Lovely atmosphere and venue. Will return.
Everything was terrific. Great service.
Excellent food. Excellent atmosphere. Excellent service. Nothing more to say but excellent.
Great food and service. Excellent shrimp and grits, steaks, and desserts.
We enjoyed our meal at Highland Avenue very much. My wife had special diet requirements, and staff cheerfully accommodated these. The food was very good, and service was spot on. We look forward to returning to Highland Avenue.
Family in town for the holidays. Thought Highland Ave. would be a great local treat. We were not disappointed.
Fabulous food and service as always. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Hickory.
Great romantic dinner for a birthday. Service was okay, but it didn’t have an impact on the evening. Food was outstanding and so were the drinks. Will go back.
One of my fav for dinner. Excellent cocktails. Can enjoy a conversation. Food is always well prepared.
Our first time eating at Highland Avenue. The experience was excellent from start to finish. Shrimp & grits were amazing! Staff was very friendly and super accomodating.
Outstanding again. We found this place on Open Table and really love it. They have good wine capabilities and while they, like every one else struggles with older corks, they know their stuff. The food was great. They know how to make a Prime Rib. Hard to find really good Prime Rib.
Worth the visit for sure.
We saw an article in Our State Magazine about the restaurant and thought we would try the restaurant. The food and service were great. There were several large groups and we thought it might ne noisy but it was not bad at all. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Hickory.
This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Service is always excellent along with the food.
Looking forward to my next visit on the 23rd of this month.
I love this place. Food is excellent almost all locally or regionally produced .. waiter was outstanding and very knowledgeable and accommodating. And those Shrimp and Grits!!! This is absolutely one of the best places to eat in the area
We had a party of six that was still sitting comfortably together. The food and drinks were great along with the service. It was our first time there and we will be back.
This is a real gem in Hickory. The connection to Michael Pullen explains the quality but is still a surprise catch for this small city.
Excellent food selection, preparation, and presentation with good alternatives for gluten-free.
Nick did a very capable job serving us.
Average at best.
We are never disappointed at Highland Avenue. It is such a gem to find in little Hickory, NC. Everything from the food to the decor is next level and transports you to big city fine dining. If you’re ever in Hickory, put it on your list.
Really great service. It was a quiet evening, which was nice, and allowed us to get to meet an owner, a manager, and our server and they all did a great job welcoming us and serving us.
Highland Avenue has a great mix of menu offerings that change seasonally. I think the food quality is very good with an appealing presentation. The service is very good ad the wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful in providing information from which to make your selections
Highland Ave never disappoints. Always delicious with exceptional service.
