On the corner of Little Bourke Street and Spencer Street, only a stones throw away from Southern Cross station and Tram stop 120 and 96, sits a dining experience quite unlike any other.

Had to wait 15 minutes after we were seated (pointed at a table rather than shown to one) to even get any water, let alone any coffee or food order taken. Coffees came one at a time and dropped on the table rather than placed. Got the impression that the servers didn’t want to be there at all, or really care about the service they were offering. Food was fine, enjoyed the broccolini with the hazelnuts. Wouldn’t recommend or return.
Waited for over an hour. Food didn’t arrive. A waitress came and asked what we ordered gave it a few more minutes still nothing.. ended up leaving. Only positive is the original waiter who took the order apologised and gave us our tea and coffee for free. Disappointed as we really wanted to enjoy the meals we ordered.
One of my absolute favourite places to eat in Melbourne.
Greeting could be worked on when we arrived, crack a smile perhaps, but apart from that, even though some of my bookings couldn't turn up they accommodated our table either way. I did feel judged when I looked out of the corner of my eye when I saw both the greeter and the waitress was talking at their station when some of our parties couldn't turn up due to last-minute unforeseen circumstances (perhaps they were talking about something else but they were looking in our direction). But overall service with the waitresses was outstanding and food and drinks were spot on for my birthday brunch.
This is a really beautiful venue and my third brunch visit.
I wholeheartedly enjoyed the tomatoes and stracciatella with a side of mushrooms - flavoursome and light. My friend was underwhelmed with the miso oyster blade - because she felt it was under cooked. I think a few additional words on the menu might be a good idea, in order to manage diner's expectations (it was very red for a medium rare).
Service can be slow and a little inattentive as it is a very busy restaurant. Mostly the staff are pretty pleasant yet I have encountered the odd 'hospo-snob' and we were moved mid-meal once without so much as an apology.
A few little blips, sure, still worth the trip to the CBD and a relatively short seating period, yes, absolutely.
Enjoyed our breakfast, food and drinks great. It was very busy so glad we booked. Had to wait quite a while for our meals, and only 3 of 4 meals came. We stared at our food getting cold for 10+ mins whilst we waited for the last meal to arrive. There was clearly an issue somewhere.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, staff and decor. The meal was slow coming though, about 50 mins, but we were chatting and having coffee. We did ask for extra hot coffee but they were barely normal temp but no biggie. Reasonable value but very tasty!!
Incredibly poor service. After being seated we waited 15 minutes with no menus or water - we went to fetch our own. A server apologised and offered a free coffee- nice touch.
The cafe wasn’t very busy but we then waited another 55 minutes for our food to arrive. We tried to flag down a server to replace our empty water bottle, I was faced with a girl snatching the bottle from my hand and stomping off. When the same girl cleared our dirty plates I said thank you and received an eye roll anda sarcastic “yeah thanks” in return.
By far the worst service I’ve had.
Food was ok, the service was enough to put me off ever returning.
My visit here was to take in the surroundings with a view to host my wedding here- no chance based on my experience, same as the venue is beautiful
Limited menu options. Place is perfect! If only there are more food choices….
Excellent restaurant - amazing service and set menu was fantastic. Highly recommend!
My coffee and food order were taken 35 mins after being seated with a reservation. I could understand the busy period but I think 35 mins isn’t appropriate.
Chilli scrambled eggs, kale broccolini salad and mushroom side were all under-seasoned.
We noted a a table behind us wanting to order tea as a finisher but the wait staff asked them to wait so she could finish food service- staff member never came back.
A couple seated on the communal table were seated after us and waited 20 mins to place a coffee order to no avail- they left promptly.
I’ve had amazing food and service here previously, this brunch experience was a huge let down. I hope the service improves because I had nothing to do while waiting for service and picked up on a lot of things while observing the surrounding tables.
Great architecture, pleasant staff and nice food. They do have the smallest cups in Melbourne so be prepared to order three or four coffees.
Will come again 👍🏻
Rude and arrogant staff on the door. Wait staff good.
food was very mediocre, the iced chai was so bad and the avocado pretzel was disappointing. wouldn’t go again
Could not fault service or food. Drinks menu also great. Nothing like starting the day with champagne and something savoury. Highly recommend.
Although rectified by some very apologetic wait staff our meals were forgotten and took over an hour to arrive. The place is stunning but not entirely enjoyed whilst waiting an eternity for food that was just good.
Felt the dining experience wasn’t long enough. Booking the table for us for 1hr 15min was too short. Food was ok but serving sizes were too small. I felt they seated ppl too close together when we are still in the pandemic.
We have eaten here before and enjoyed our time. After Covid it was nice to be back. The warehouse space is great however, we waited an hour and a half for our food. We arrived 10:15 ordered at 10:30. At 11:15 I asked the waitress if our food was coming she assured me it was. At 11:35 I asked again and was promised it was on its way. By this time my mum went to her car and ate a muesli bar because she just was so hungry. I then went up to the manager at around 11:50 and he came and said the food was being prepped he then offered to comp the bill as we had ordered extra coffees, drinks, danishes etc while we waited. Then finally at around midday our food arrived however, my brothers arrived first, then a few minutes later it was my dads and Mums, then mine then finally my younger brothers which was frustrating as well. Like I said everyone was very polite and they did take things off the bill which was appreciated. However, when the booking is only supposed to be 1hr and 15 mins and you haven’t eaten after 1hr and 30 mins it was so frustrating. However, I do think they forgot our order because every other table around us was turned over multiple times. Just frustrating but the staff handled it very well.
Great place. I thought a few more menu option would be good from a meat lover point of view. Crab eggs only soso.
Cool reception initially as early , however the rest of the staff were very professional Enjoyed the food.
Food, wine and service was amazing. The building is also great inside.
Fabulous food, great friendly service and relaxing vibe.
Lovely meal. I got the cauliflower salad which I had ordered before. It wasn't as thoroughly cooked as I could have liked however, it was still delicious.
I really love this venue but the arrival system is hectic. Rather than one place for arrivals and one place for payments both come to the same person and place. This made it very awkward with regards to who was next and who should be prioritised. When we arrived there were two groups ahead of us during this time three groups of people arrived to pay. It was awkward, messy and the staff leaned towards those paying first. It also meant the door way was really blocked up.
Great environment and awesome food, very unique takes. Highly recommended. They will treat you very well!
Overall, a beautiful venue with great coffee and attentive customer service.
Great venue, with excellent food and attentive staff.
So good! Went out for the first time in a loooong time with a group of the girls. We had a ball and were very well looked after :)
Amazing service and the food was fabulous
First catch up out of lockdown with my bestie!!! Bloody Marty’s spot on!! Local snapper divine!! Amazing venue & great staff!! THANK YOU!!
Great spot, had the spanner crab Benedict. Very fresh and filling. Coffee is good and great ambience
Great building and attentive staff but noise level was a bit high for me. The food was good but could have been a bit more tasty- I couldn't taste the Harissa in the Harissa cauliflower salad which was otherwise delicious.
Amazing food at fantastic prices. Definitely going back
The food was exceptionally bland. We ordered the Sambal Eggs, Eggs on Toast and Spanner Crab Benedict. We found that we had to add lots of salt and pepper to give the meals some semblance of flavour. Rather than enjoying flavoursome dishes, our experience was reduced to a lacklustre salt flavoured disaster. The bread that the eggs were sitting under was also laughable. One was either a soggy mess while the other was a tooth breaking brick. We also ordered a side of kingfish with the eggs on toast however all we received were some tiny sushimi slivers of salty fish. Needless to say, the entire meal was a complete letdown. I would not recommend going here for the amount of money they charge.
Good selection of food and well presented dishes. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Online booking is seamless. Highly recommended
First meal out after lockdown!
Service is really slow. Same as before pandemic. New menu was not as good as old menu. Took Waiter/ waitress 15 minutes to take beverage order. Then took another 15 mins to realise never given drinks menu.
10mins for food arrival which is fine but without providing napkin and cutlery to serve. We were waving for few waiters to get the cutlery for us for 5 minutes. No napkin still until we asked when we finished our meal. The dine in time was 2pm and it was half capacity on saturday. Now i remember why i haven been back for 2 years.
Awful. Just terrible service. Was provided with misleading information. Extremely unfriendly staff. Soso coffee and high prices for chewy food. No. Not coming back.
Our breakfast was stone cold and the service was not great.
