Higher Ground is a British bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday at dinner and at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £60pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted via the OpenTable online reservation platform. For parties of 7x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

    Had heard great things about Higher Ground so expectations were high - and exceeded by miles. Food was incredible - quality of vegetables simply astonishing, every mouthful reflecting the expert curation of their market garden in Cheshire. And there’s the service. Rarely, if ever, have I been made to feel more welcome or looked after from start to finish. Care and attention to detail brilliant throughout. My new wife and I went to a three Michelin starred restaurant for our honeymoon and I wish we’d have come here instead. An amazing achievement from a superb team.

    Absolutely incredible. This was our second visit, the first about 4 weeks ago. I don’t know how but a couple of the team remembered my wife and I. I cannot praise the service, ambience and probably most importantly the food enough. By far our most favourite meal in a long long time. We can’t wait to return with friends to share the experience.

    A second visit and the food was brilliant. Went a la carte this time and the choices were amazing. Special shout out to the scallop dish and especially the ricotta dumplings with short rib Ragu. The service was spot on and the wine choice was expertly helped

    We had the mystery menu and really enjoyed it - locally grown and seasonal. The staff were great, maybe a touch too attentive, so we ended up feeling a little rushed. A great place to try though!

    Went for the surprise lunch tasting menu. Everyone was very friendly and every dish was delicious. The flavours and ingredients used are quite different to standard but exceptional in taste and presentationml.

    Higher Ground are consistently brilliant. The food is fresh, creative and always tasty. The team work with seasonal ingredients and the menu changes daily - but always ask for the pea fritters! Service is warm, friendly and pitch perfect. One of my absolute favourites.
