Higher Ground is a British bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday at dinner and at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £60pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted via the OpenTable online reservation platform. For parties of 7x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

The ethos of this restaurant aligns completely with my belief about British food. We have great quality, fresh and seasonal produce available locally, which this restaurant showcases imaginatively. We are a couple who dined here on a Saturday night at the bar counter. We witnessed everything that was going on in the kitchen and were blown away by the professionality and care of the staff. The service was attentive and thoughtful, but not intrusive. Our waitress could answer ALL our questions about the food and wine and no ask was too great. We ordered the set menu, the dishes of which remain a surprise until you receive them. We decided to put our faith in the kitchen and were not disappointed. Each dish was carefully prepared with this season's produce and the waiters took care to explain what was in each one. The combination of ingredients was just so imaginative. There was turnip paired with elderflower and gooseberries, yoghurt paired with sorrel, even though my personal favourite was all the local cheese and butter! If you're looking for something different, and an experience that leaves a lasting impact by making you think twice about where our daily food comes from, this is the restaurant for you.

The cheddar tart and the hake lacked some flavor. Additionally, I consider that the fish was overpriced for the quantity it was given. Nevertheless, the fig leaf with yogurt was amazing dessert.

What a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion! The food was outstanding and the dishes eloquently presented and described.We both felt very much at ease and all the staff were incredible. Highly recommend and we would love to return!

Got the chef’s table and had a very interesting insight into the kitchen – very professional, and the head chef was outstanding. The food is of a high standard and offers great value for money. Exceptional service.

Amazing- had the chefs menu and the experience has left us wanting more. Service is outstanding and whole vibe of restaurant is exciting. Can’t believe I’ve not tried it earlier, but will definitely be back

Outstanding tasty and different. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner for 10 of us. Service was perfect made easy by the seasonal menu. We added on a few Oysters and absolutely delicious cheddar tarts. Each course was so fresh and delicious. The only comment I would like to make is it would be good to see a menu as although each course was introduced it can be difficult to hear everything said and it also makes choosing wine harder.

Fantastic food, really enjoyed sitting at the counter and the small talk with the chefs whilst they were working. Service was attentive but not over-bearing with the waiting staff all being knowledgeable. Great drink selection too - would recommend the Pinot Noir they serve by the glass - it's excellent! The only thing I would have changed would have been the dessert but that's just a preference thing, the dessert we had was still great. They are very accommodating, and you can request items off the al a carte menu when ordering the set menu which is a nice option. Overall, a really well-presented establishment, very good staff, a clear dedication to excellent food, and a clear attention to detail. We would definitely go again!
