Higher Ground is a British bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday at dinner and at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £60pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted via the OpenTable online reservation platform. For parties of 7x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

Exceptional food and service. The overall atmosphere of this restaurant is lively and exciting, like an episode of The Bear. We will be back.

One of the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food is succulent and the service is best in class. Every attention to detail and customer service has been thought through whilst the staff is very relaxed and authentic. You can sense that every single one of them in the room or open plan kitchen love their job. I’ll be regularly coming back and recommending to people around me.

One of the best restaurants that we have been to in a ling time. Go for the sharing menu and let them decide. Fantastic staff, venue, atmosphere. This is going to be a regular place for us from now on.

From start to finish, our evening at Higher Ground was nothing short of outstanding. We opted for the chef’s choice menu and couldn’t resist adding a few à la carte dishes, and every single plate was a revelation – familiar ingredients elevated to something truly extraordinary. The team’s commitment to sustainability is woven through everything they do. The menu changes daily, built entirely around local, seasonal produce, and you can really taste the difference. Each dish felt thoughtful, vibrant, and beautifully balanced, with creativity that never overshadowed the integrity of the ingredients. Service was exceptional too – the staff were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Their enthusiasm for what they serve is infectious, and it made the whole experience even more memorable. Higher Ground isn’t just a meal, it’s a celebration of what great food can be when passion, skill and ethics come together. Sublime in every sense – we can’t wait to return when we are in Manchester again. Simply stunning.

Food was great! We got the sharer menu, for £60pp for 6 courses. Excellent value for money. Wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to have a richer dessert follow the elderflower one, but also aware it is summer and light desserts are preferred/seasonal. Service was exceptional! Only downside, was they had an extremely limited drinks for non alcoholic drinkers. Could benefit from some fever tree lemonade/cola equivalent to be in stock.

Seriously quality foodie experience. Great value lunch menu for such creative, innovative plates. Lovely experience being served the sharing menu and not knowing what you’ll get. Staff were super friendly and the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. Effortlessly catered for vegan with no compromise on flavour, quality, or creativity, and they could even cater to multiple dietary requirements on the table within the same sharing menu!
