Service was good but the food was horrible. Nothing was prepared fresh to order. And still took 25 min to just assemble premade components. Everything was cold, either bland or too salty, overcooked, stale. Some of the items I couldn’t even tell what it was because it seemed to have been reheated stored then reheated again. Seemed like they stored the food and took it out and threw it together on a tray. None of the sweet offerings seemed made in house, like they bought bulk macarons from Costco and gave one per person. No lining between the food and the porous wooden tray so not hygienic. For $68 plus 21% service charge this was ridiculous, a joke. It was shockingly bad. There were only 4 tea selections too. Worst tea time I’ve ever had.

The server was friendly but then very slow. I had to get up to go ask the bar tender for the check as we waited over 30 minutes without the server coming by. The afternoon tea menu was not like any afternoon tea I have had, Asian theme for Lunar New Year. The group all eats Asian food and yet we didn't even care for it. The deserts were also so plain, dry and we all left mostly uneaten.

Tea was lovely at Le Meridien. The seating was cute crushed velvet benches right near the windows so we could enjoy the rainy day. The food is very good. We selected three different pots of tea and there was definitely a favorite amongst us. We were there a long time without being rushed. The bar is adjacent to it so there are other groups that can get loud. It’s a pretty open area though. The staff are all very friendly.

The ambience is wonderful and comfortable, but the food is subpar, and the service is extremely slow and spotty. There was a football game blaring on a large screen TV right in front of our couches.

Good atmosphere, locate at hotel lobby. Food and drink not impressive. Tea favor way too light. Iced tea drink no favor at all. Food tower feels like it’s a combination of all different food from Trader Joe’s/Wholefood and placed together on the tray tower. Many flys around the lobby and visiting our table for food, very disturbing. The only PRO of this visit because it’s close in SGV, that’s all. Won’t go back again.

I was extremely disappointment with my visit to your High Tea Lounge at Le Meriden. It fell short in several aspects. Firstly, the extended wait time before receiving our tea and food was frustrating. The quality of the food served was rather mediocre. The selection lacked freshness and most items were not up to the standard we had expected for the price. For example, the soup was cold, the pasties were icy in the middle, the fish on toast smelled so strong that it was unappetizing, the scones were thin and hard, the macaroons were chewy, and the chocolate covered strawberries were dipped in purple chocolate with green sprinkles. Despite having made a reservation in advance, it seemed to me that this tea was not made fresh and was presented to us with leftovers form the refrigerator. Also, upon receiving the bill, we were surprised by the presence of unexpected charges that were not clearly communicated beforehand. This left us feeling misled and dissatisfied with the overall pricing transparency. Lastly, when I contacted the manager, she wrote back a generic email and came off as uninterested in the quality of the food or our experience.

The overall experience was good. The food was my least favorite part. It needs more savory bites and sandwiches. More food in general would make the price per person worth it. There is an Asian twist to the “high tea” which is fine, but if you are going to serve a scone then clotted cream must accompany it. The scone was dry. The sweet desserts to savory should be more balanced. We had sugar overload. But I gave it an overall good experience because we were seated in a comfortable private area and the teas were delicious and most of the desserts were good. Also, there is an automatic 18% gratuity for a my party of two. We had to wait a long time for the tea and food and also we had to walk the check up to pay because our server infrequently checked on us.

The Mother’s Day Tea was really nice. We were greeted with a long-stemmed rose when we walked in, and we were seated right away. The food was delicious! I liked trying the different teas that were available. There was also a really pretty photo op that my mom loved.

It’s a makeshift ballroom with temporary party rental chairs / tables and self service tea (lukewarm water). The food was mediocre at best and tea required you to take your cup to the center table and refill it with water (rather than have a pot of tea by you). At over $80 per person, one would think they did some research into how afternoon teas are served. The host and servers (there were only two for all the tables) were very nice people and friendly; only silver lining. I’m actually shocked by how terrible it was and how it can even be associated with the Le Meridien name. Came for Mothers Day and was absolute disappointment.

We reserved for three people on Mother’s Day. It was self-serve tea from a “tea bar” in a big banquet room (not served at your table in an intimate setting as the Open Table description/photos seemed to suggest) - so not really very special. We waited 30 minutes for our tea tray, and a group that arrived after us was served before us. A lot of the advertised menu items were not served, and what was served was pretty mediocre. Nothing seemed freshly made. We only received one 3-tier tray of small, average items and some soup that was literally served in tiny cream pitchers (i.e. for coffee). For $65 per person, it was a total ripoff. Completely surprised that this unpleasant experience was at a Le Meridien, given their upscale brand reputation. Will not go back and would not recommend.

Came here for Mother's Day high tea and boy was it disappointing. I was here 1 year ago and had a wonderful high tea experience and was looking forward to coming back for the special occasion. I was told by the waitress that they had a new chef since a year back so there were a lot of changes. First, there were no scones with jam or clotted cream. At high tea. We were told two cookies shaped like triangles were scones - I assure you they were not. Second, there were no finger sandwiches. At high tea! Our savory selection was almost inedible. We asked for a vegetarian substitution which included avocado toast, sun dried tomato on baguette and mushroom toast. The bread was stale, the tomatoes were so tough I couldn't bite through them, and the mushroom toast was served with mayonnaise as the sauce. I can't even make this up. The desserts were tasty but so so lacking compared to their high tea selection from last year. The individual teas were poorly made and had no flavor, the matcha tasted burned. 18% gratuity was mandatory and automatically included so with tax and tip it came out to $170. I was speechless. Like other reviewers have written, it was a completely unacceptable experience for the price. Our server was great. She was apologetic and took our feedback seriously. The manger comped one persons tea charge but honestly I feel like even $85 is unreasonable for what we received. I can't recommend this place at all and won't be back. I'm bummed that this was my Mother's Day experience but the property was beautiful so at least we had some ambiance.

Food was not that good but the presentation was lovely. The teas were excellent. When we checked in, no one was at the host desk. We had to go to the hotel check in to find someone and even then, she could not find anyone. Service was mediocre. We were constantly walking around the bar area looking for someone.

The experience was terrible! It was a small cordoned off area to the side of the lobby bar. It was loud, service was slow and food was mediocre at best. Savory items were fine but the sweets were nothing better than you'd get from a grocery store dessert counter. The "scones" were like small muffins - definitely not scones! The overall ambiance was really bad given it's location, amount of foot traffic and just overall noise levels!

They only served us 3 little sandwiches it wasn’t an equivalent of 1/2 a small sandwich. Everything else was deserts. We were still hungry and could not enjoy all that deserts. The bill was over $300 for 4 people, it would have been ok if we did not have to go get food from another restaurant because we were all still hungry!

    1. The area is open and anyone can sit and interrupt your tea party. It should be blocked off someway. Solicitor bothering with hand outs. 2. Fire alarm went off and everyone just looking around. No direction and Fireman arrived. 3. Cup was dirty and had to request to be cleaned.

Two major issues. They don’t tell you that gratuity is automatically added, even for a party of 2. I missed this on the check and tipped an additional $30, so total tip came out to $56. The valet brought me the wrong car and never apologized for bringing the wrong car or for the inconvenience of the double wait time. I could have driven off with someone else’s Lexus. Other than that, the food was ok. Some of it was nice, others meh. Server Kendra was great though. Checked up on us a lot and explained everything. She was the only bright spot so at least hopefully she got an extra tip.

Scones are traditionally larger in size. The scones served here were tiny in comparison. Would recommend normal sized scones and less finger desserts. Sandwiches were yummy. Enjoyed the different teas.

The tea was the only thing that was good. The food: savory was too little, the sweet had soggy crust for the pumpkin tart, the panna cotta had no flavor, the scones were little triangles, the clotted cream was like cold butter...the macarons had a leaf decoration that essentially fell off because they were so dry. I could go on and on....they automatically added the tip and then left the tip line open in case we wanted to tip extra...no. The server came to us three times, once to ask which tea we wanted, second to deliver the tea and food, third to deliver the check. There is better tea at Four Seasons Tea Room in Sierra Madre, half the price and better quality. I would never recommend this place to friends and we will never go back.

First thing we noticed was how many flies there were in the restaurant and then upon looking around and up the ceiling you notice the black mold/mildew. The waiter was very nice, noticed we were swatting the flies and apologized but assured us the amount we were seeing was nothing compared to the previous week...yikes!!
