   food was better than expected, service a bit slow but we were in no hurry, would go back before a show at Alterina

   We were a bit surprised when we walked in and saw a blank room of old rec center tables and chairs. We now understand the furniture is purposely casual so it can be easily moved for events, dancing, and band sets. The door was left open so people can just walk in -- a bit uncomfortable for December -- everyone sat around eating in their winter hats and coats. The music was great -- a CD of Kenny G and other greats like Luther Vandross. The food is excellent but the portions were smaller than we expected. The Hot Chocolate is yummy, the Vegetarian Frittata is fantastic, the Home Fries are divine (why only three little pieces...those discs of heaven go too quickly). The Meyer Lemon Hollandaise Sauce used on several dishes was heaven, as well. To top things off, upon leaving we spent some time with Susan, the new owner. She is a fantastic person, local girl, and we really enjoyed our visit. She cares about her employees as much as she cares about the customers. We hope to meet up with her again when we come for the New Year's Day.

   Coffee shop style with live music many evenings a week. check out their upcomiing live musical events by calling 510-995-8049 or picking up a calendar. Great service, cheerful place. Good bar.
