What Insiders Are Saying
High Street on Hudson is a Philly import in the West Village that will happily make you a sandwich or a bowl of tripe. You should have both.
Very Casual, small, busy, light fare eatery. Friendly, good service. Creative salad/sandwich styled menu ( avocado tartine, Jersey Girl sandwich were excellent). Fairly long, unique wine list. Reasonable pricing.
All 3 of us enjoyed our meals the chicken was best I ever had and I am a chicken lover. Wine menu reasonable priced. We will go back.
Amazing as usual. Great cocktails, sommelier was really nice and very helpful, and service was spotless. The menu was lights out too.
Every dish was uniquely, expertly and tastily prepared and presented. Service was professional, attentive and warm. A totally comfortable, and delicious dining experience.
The hudson menu is 100% worth the money. Quality of wine tasting menu is fantastic. Service is super.
First time going & it was for Saturday brunch. Very good experience overall - staff were all friendly, service was efficient, food was on point & atmosphere was relaxed. Would definitely return and recommend.
Great meal, great service, and we could actually hear each other! Love this place. Waiter was especially helpful, patient and gracious.
Waitress was inattentive and dismissive . Chef did not want to allow us to have a different bread for the roast beef sandwich! How ridiculous is that in a restaurant that is also a bakery. Table was unbalanced and all the tables are too close together.
Sandwich when we finally got it was tasty , but not worth the price. It was really only a half sandwich.
Too many great restaurants in the village, will not go back to this one.
Great food for the price
The servers were very accommodating and super friendly.
The food came out fast and warm. It was very delicious.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for a casual dine-in experience with excellent, quality food.
The food was delicious, innovative and fresh! The compact menu did not leave us wanting for anything. Wine was amazing, and the service was perfectly balanced between professional and friendly.
High Street on Hudson is always a good bet; the food is excellent, they have a nice selection of wine, and the staff very friendly. However, it would be great if they had more vegetarian entre options. The menu is very meat focused, which is fine, but they kind of phone-in the non-meat offerings by offering one pasta dish out of the entire entre selection. Meat is great, but sometimes a straight-up vegetable focused meal is nice too.
As always High Street On Hudson provided superb food, service and atmosphere. It’s my go-to restaurant.
Great food. God coffee. It was busy so I’m glad we had a reservation. Service was adequate. I imagine if they weren’t slammed it would have been better.
Good food but sassy service. I won’t be going back.
I have been to the restaurant on a number of occasions, and it does feel like the food wasn't as masterfully executed as on past occasions. But the bread / grain dishes continue to be standouts.
I have a slew of food intolerances, and I’ve never had a restaurant handle them as well as High Street in Hudson did. They were understanding, thorough, and proactive. They made sure I knew exactly what I could and couldn’t have, and they offered to make so many adjustments. I have loved this restaurant forever and can’t recommend it enough
VERY limited menu at lunch...which makes this very boring unless you want an egg based dish or a somewhat dry turkey sandwich. Just a few tables but two booths....if making a rez, request the booths for privacy. Otherwise you are relegated to tightly spaced tables on the banquette or the high top tables. I was disappointed.
Pleasant space, waitstaff were available but not attentive at all. Food was good but nothing special. Was an enjoyable place to be for a casual night with friends where the actual food experience is not your focus.
So we came for our reservation, ordered drinks but realized that online menu was totally different from menu at the restaurant. We expected to order some dishes that were not on the menu anymore. Very disappointed :( We were told that menu has changed ad new chef as a different "vision". Unfortunately, we did not find anything we were interested in that night and asked for a check to pay for drinks.
Paul was AMAZING!!! He sincerely apologized, was very understanding and even brought us some of their famous bread on the house. It was delicious!
I will definitely give this place a try again just for Paul's courtesy and great service.
I’m not a big fun of the food here. My duck liver mousses tasted very fishy, and the fried chicken main course was just mediocre. The side cabbage served came in extremely large pieces and was not seasoned well. I’m not sure whether it was meant to be a primitive style, but I do feel like a cave man eating that. My friend’s whole salt baked branzino was also too primitive( means taste nothing but salty, while the fish is not the kind of meat that represents itself). The restaurant week menu is somehow different from the one from nyc go’s website( but they are all from the regular menu, so fair enough). I can’t remember my dessert, but it was a cream on top of two other very sweet mousses, which is definitely not enjoyable.
Overall, good vibe, good bread, the food is fresh and come in large portion. It is a good place for people like simply cooked fresh dishes. But do not hold expectation too high on execution and creativity.
Los sándwich están deliciosos! En especial el de Salmón
Hola! Muchas Gracias!!! :) Vuelve Otra Vez!!!
The bread was outstanding. The lamb was well prepared, but served with a lot of goat cheese, and the combination just didn’t work. The fried chicken had good crust, but there wasn’t enough meat, and the dressing on the accompanying lettuce wedge didn’t have much taste. Service was excellent. All in all, though, given the prices, it’s not a place that I can strongly recommend.
Opentable incorrectly assumed the restaurant was open on New Years Day ay 8:30 am (my reservation) when it only opened at 9am which was frustrating
Food was terrible
From beginning to end excellent
This place used to be much better. Not sure what happened, maybe a new chef
although i did not give a 5 for many of the categories i will say the FOOD IS EXCELLENT. very unusual combinations of foods, tastes, spices made the food very good. however, my salmon came and was very under cooked and although they took it back without any problems my fellow diner was completely finished with their meal before my dinner was served (made a new piece of fish for me, rather than just recooking, which was great, but he dining experience of watching my friend eat and then she watching me isn't ideal). they did give us a free dessert to make up for the glitch and our waiter was very apologetic but it made a serious dent in our dining experience. the place is a bit loud, but still a pleasant environment. we didn't have drinks, but next time we will - the cocktails looked amazing.
Not bad for dinner, but truly awful breakfast. The eggs were worse than a bodega and, greens shredded and under cooked and sausage barely edible. What a disappointment for such a charming restaurant!
Lamb was tough! Ordered bread ($5) and had to ask for it 3 times.
Pleasant staff, very noisy due to close proximity of tables, very limited menu, some dishes and drinks are very small portions, wines by the glass are weak, 3 of the 5 dessert selections are alcohol.
Won’t be returning!
Fantastic dinner. Plates are sized perfectly for sharing. The chicken was perfectly cooked and quite moist. Appetizers and dessert were also very, very good. I have to start coming more often.
Great food, terrible service. Waiter forgot about us on multiple occasions, ordered food that never came out and when we finally got another server to get us our bill, we were still charged for the food we never received. It wasn't very busy (it was a Monday at 11am) so I'm not sure what the disconnect was.
Overall the food was fantastic deserving much higher grades. Unfortunately, the lamb I chose for the entree was tough and almost inedible. When I complained they graciously comped me the dish.
Appetizers, shoshito peppers and a Anadama bread were luscious as were desserts - an out of this world fruity cake with unbelievable frozen yogurt.
We’ve been twice before with great food experiences. This last time was hugely disappointing. Some of the food was lukewarm, the brisket was really fatty this time, the cod was over cooked.
Was sitting down for ages and no one told us it was counter service only in the morning.
Great service, but the food was awful. The chicken was extremely dry and had obviously been reheated.
coffee was worse than I remember and we were really squeezed into a tight corner.
